Cry of Fear is finally out:
http://www.cry-of-fear.com/Cry of Fear is a horror-themed total conversion mod for Half-Life 1. It is a spiritual sequel of sorts to Afraid of Monsters, which I also recommend playing if you haven't already.
Like its predecessor, this mod uses a combination of jump scares, limited ammo/health resources, and cramped spaces for atmosphere.
It's style of horror shares some elements in common with old-school survival horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill.
It's probably the best looking Half-Life 1 mod I've ever seen.
