Is it possible to ask for probation?

Let's say I have exams or something important coming up, and want to keep the website from distracting me, would it be possible to request temporary probation for an amount of time?

It could indeed be solved with a "I've been probated on my own request until (time period). If you need me, you can always PM me, but I am busy studying and may not be able to reply immediately".
