:D Do you have a favorite fangame? Maybe from this forum site or maybe just outside of this site (japanese, english etc)?
A Mario redone fangame with a favorite character? A new fangame of Touhou with original character, crossover and etc etc??
Is it a fangame of a completely different series??? Post here you're favorite fangame and maybe why other than that fact it has you favorite character ^o^!!
My favorite fangame has to be Touhou Fantasy made (and yet to be complete) by Xenomic, cTc for obivous reasons and Phantasm Romance (despite having no plot whatsoever).
I also have a PW fangame I like bvut at the moment the name is blank in my head.
-
I love New Super Marisa Land and PatchCon. Both are adorable games with great music.
-
I don't know if I'd call it my favorite fan game ever, but I do enjoy Fortune Star Panic. I'm a sucker for puzzle games.
Beyond that, the demo of Eastern Starlight Romance is really nice.
-
I haven't played a whole lot of fangames, but I think my favorite still stands as Komajou Densetsu ~ Scarlet Symphony. It has awesome character redesigns, a wonderful soundtrack, and the gameplay is fun. Plus it features my favorite Touhou group, the SDM cast.
Other than that, I've been having a good deal of fun with Labyrinth of Touhou, though I usually don't play RPGs. While the original art is...pretty ugly (thank God for Special Disk), the soundtrack is solid and the boss battles can be about as hectic as the original games (for different reasons, of course).
-
- Phantasm Romance 2.5 Plus, made by Len (I'm looking forward to Phantasmagoria Trues, from the same author)
- PatchCon, made by Tasofro
-
PatchCon and Touhou Labyrinth for me.
-
New Super Marisa Land
Genius of Sappherios
PatchCon (I guess, I don't play that as much as I did before)
But, I love Kakutou Densetsu more than I do the above three. It's like mugen and river city ransom had a baby or something. The community that was behind most of the character/stage creation and such used to be pretty decent several years ago, now it doesn't seem like there's much talk of it anymore. Looks like I'm a little late to the party with this one...
If it counts, Moemon is also a favorite fangame of mine, it's actually the only reason why I was able to pick up and play Pokemon games again.
-
So many people like patchcon... I'm honestly not sure if there is simply something I am not getting about that game. Please confirm. Basically you have 3 types of units per stage, and you tell danmaku to engage the flying enemies, mel?e to engage the danmaku, and flying to engage mel?e right.. There is not much strategy besides that and replenishing the characters you lose (the right element I mean).
Or does more happen further in the game?
Anyway my fave is touhou labyrinth.

It might be more the sheer insanity some battles can get once you have a lot of units and a lot of enemies at once, plus there are a lot of different units with different skills so it's not just some rock-paper-scissors thing.

Pretty much this. It's a simple to learn but the hard to master kind of game. And the zerg rushes in higher difficulties are terrifying and amusing at the same time. And the voices...good lord..the voices. So freaking adorable.
-
My favorite fangame... hmmm...
Well, it's not out yet, but there's a Kirby one that's looking /very/ promising whose name escapes me. (I think it's Cosmic Chaos or somethin' like that)
And I've got a soft-spot for Touhoumon Emerald (AnjiruSensei's Normal/Hard version etc.) and New Super Marisa Land, if only because Suwarisa looks so damn cute.
And Touhou Labyrinth's a great game, too. It helps give me that grindy, RPG-y, dungeoncrawler-y kick when I'm too lazy to play Persona 3 or Digital Devil Saga (or, in the case of P3, too lazy to plan out my days and whatnot).
Not sure if this counts as a fangame, but Desktop Dungeons is pretty fun/hellishly difficult~

Mystical Chain
Touhou Labyrinth
Mystical Chain
The Genius of Sappheiros
Mystical Chain
Also, Mystical Chain. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvYmZcwDiw0)
-
Azure's Another World's Chaos. It's basically Touhou but a hundred times prettier, way more types of enemies, and with cute fuzzy things :V

I started the development for Kirby Cosmic Chaos a few years ago! :D Though I left the team to start my own project. My friends are still continuing it and even added Cirno and Marisa to the game as Kirby's helpers.

Have I mentioned that your friends are the best people /ever/? (and you, by extension.)

Also, Mystical Chain. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvYmZcwDiw0)
I wonder how I overlooked Mystical Chain...
But yeah, that's another good one.
-
Touhoumon, but that wins by default since it's the only Touhou fangame I've played. I've seen videos of MegaMari, but the concept of dodging danmaku in a sidescroller makes me want to crap my pants.
-
Gensoushoujo Wars.
-
MegaMari, probably. Genius of Sappheiros is turning out pretty awesome, though.
-
Megamari is my first, and still one of my faves even after how ever long it's been. Komajou: Scarlet Symphony is also fantastic, even if the unlimited flying bugs me. When ever I play, I don't even use it (you can actually get through the whole game without it!) Genius of Saphieros seems pretty good to and I really hope there's an English patch soon.
As for non Touhou, ALLTYNEX Second and anything by Astro Port.
-
I haven't played many fangames.
Only Mystical Chain and Touhoumon, with a few other flash games.
I never cleared either of them though.
Mystical Chain because I failed in Stage 5 Lunatic and didn't want to bother with building up those companion points again.
And Touhoumon because I accidentally overwrote my save file while I was on six island.
-
This (http://acidclub.sakura.ne.jp/a13.html) is the best fangame.
You're welcome.
-
I can never get Rumia for some reason.
Don't forget about the sequel?

I didn't want to overwhelm everyone.
Also: The trick to Rumia: Watch her shoes or her ribbon. And if you're going for Der Secret, remember her ribbon is on the (your) right side of her head when she's facing you.
-
Der Secret
I wasn't expecting that.
I just watched whilst getting mauled horribly.
-
Touhoumon by faaaaaaar. But I can't remember playing any fangame other than Super Marisa land and the flandre flash minigame.
-
Azure's Another World's Chaos. It's basically Touhou but a hundred times prettier, way more types of enemies, and with cute fuzzy things :V
A google search turned up empty. More info?
-
Still working on it, but I gave Onthenet a beta version for his birthday. Keep an eye on Rika's Garage, since a demo release should be fairly soon. I wanted to keep it mostly secret so the hype wouldn't backfire, but meh...
As for the topic, I actually have no idea. I haven't played enough Touhou fangames to really pick a favorite.
-

I recommend Koumajou Densetsu and MegaMari, personally.
... ... is that a Kirby Yukari in your avatar?
-
Phantasm Romance and a certain Evaccania DOOM script.
-
I haven't played a whole ton of fangames for various reasons, but I'd say the one that was most rewarding was Touhou Labyrinth (MINUS plus disk), even if it's not something I'd ever want to replay. If we count scripts, I'd also say Phantasm Romance for its music alone.
-
As far as I recall I've only played Touhou Soccer and Patchcon. But I did quite like Patchcon. I'm planning on playing Touhoumon pretty soon, but seeing as I just will have finished Pokemon Blue, it might be too similar without another game thrown between.
-
I was about to say touhou mother, but then I saw the vids... and the last 2 bosses make no sense... + no giygas. So I would have to say Len's Danmakufu scripts are my favorite.
-
Super Marisa World.
-
People who like Koumajou Densetsu have never played a true Castlevania game before. Prove me wrong.
-

All (most, at least) the Metroidvanias. Simon's Quest. Super Castlevania IV. And that one that wasn't released here but is on the Virtual Console whose name escapes me; the one with Maria.
And I enjoy Koumajou.
-
Metroidvanias aren't true Castlevania games either. And the classics you mentioned are trivial as well.

I'm defaulting to Mystical Chain, not for the gameplay, but the music.

I lol'd so hard when I shot something in the arse I shouldn't have. Oh my god that was amazing.

CotM is better.

That's the GBA one, right?... I was fond of it, but never got to play it too often.

What do you mean "true"? It's like you're implying that the recent games are fake or something.

Nah, it's just game elitism. I'm sure he's not serious.

Given the poster in question's behavior in the BlazBlue thread I seriously doubt it.
-
Just givin' him the benefit of the doubt, that's all.
-
The Mario Marisa games and Touhou Labyrinth were some of my favs.
-
That reminds me, I need to... ya know... actually do crap on Touhou Labyrinth more often.
Oh! And Genius of Sappheiros (?) is nice, too. Really, anything RPG-shaped and not-bad gets my Seal of Approval.
-
Completely forgot: Quadruple Fantasy Sword ~ Tenshi's Counterattack. Awesome, awesome RPG. I'd replay it, but I can't find the Excel spreadsheet with the english translations (barring a 404'd link to the old one on Poosh a year or two back).
Also, that new FUSION game by Lionheart's pretty great. It's been getting progressively more frustrating though, especially considering how hax Hatate is.

Speaking of Tenshi games, what's the name of that Tenshi-centric Strategy RPG that came out at Comiket 78?
And I haven't gotten that far in FUSION, but it's adorable and addicting all the same. G'job Lion Heart.

Google Translate says "Tendo Blade". If I'm not mistaken, it's actually the sequel to the one I was just talking about.
-
Huh, I thought the last guy who mentioned Tendo Blade being the name was just screwin' around.
Now if only an English translation (patch or not) would pop up...
-
I often play Mystical Chain JUST to hear Flan+Remi's boss theme.
-
I personally like Aquastyle's Roguelike game whose name I dont remember but its basically Touhou Mystery Dungeon XDD
Love it <3 and then there is the FUSION game
And for the lawls I like CUVETYPE's attempt at making a Touhou Battle Arena (And Failing because there is no character balance =___=)
I've wanted to play Touhou Battle Gaiden (Cus I love tetris)
-
... Is Touhou Battle Arena that really bad (Sorry creators, but it's TRUE!) 3D one?
-
Yes yes it is =____= The one where she of the deliscious armpits pwns all and My Little French maid can do NOTHING TT___TT
EDIT: I also just remembered RED MAGIC
http://chibitami.net/works/flash/redmagic/index.html
Love this game; Just got to level 52
-
Speaking of Flash games!
http://chibitami.net/works/flash/bfff/index.html
The title screen is adorable and misleading because either I'm bad or this game is hard as crap.

*Synn, the necromancer ressurects a dead topic*
My favorite touhou games'd be:
1- MEGAMARI!
I just love this game! It was a genius idea to cross megaman with touhou! The whole sytem of defeating 8 primary bosses and collecting their weapons, the difficult, 2D platformer settling, etc. And since megaman is one of my favorite series of all time...
2- Labyrinth of Tohou
This is one of the best rpg's I ever played! I just love how the bosses are insanely difficult and the grind system, We get to play as most of the touhou cast, spell cards effects are good looking, as well as the enemies artwork. It's a pity that they have several palette swaps.
3- Mystical Chain
This is one of the best touhou fan games out there, it's short, but the action is constant, and the boss battles are epic! The combo system is nice, jogability is fluid, and we have awesome remixes from already existent touhou themes.
4- New super marisa land
This game is just so cute! The graphics are nice, we fight fairies, cute bunny girls, and clumsy little maids! And marisa can cosplay suwako! What more you'd ask for?
5- Concealed the conclusion
Enough said.

Synn, the necromancer, should read the rules regarding bumping dead threads.

Sorry about that, I just saw little point on creating a new topic just to say this.

In the future, just make a new topic. We have rules here for a reason. At the very least, you can always PM a mod to ask if it's alright to bump an old thread. Just ignoring the rules isn't a great idea.

Azure's Another World's Chaos. It's basically Touhou but a hundred times prettier, way more types of enemies, and with cute fuzzy things :V
But but but this one causes me depression D:<
