Edit 2: Hurr, uploaded the wrong replay to mediafire. Just fixing it now.
The replays are found in %appdata% if anyone is struggling to find them (like I did.)

Suwapyon 2010 has Ultra listed between Lunatic and Extra in-game. Suwapyon also has that unlockable along with a Four Dimensions difficulty. It's great to see a scoreboard for these games. I'd still like to see some sort of translation too.

Many thanks! And Four Dimensions difficulty? Didn't even know that existed.
I'd love to see some translation for the game too - maybe the folks over at Gensokyo.org are already on it, who knows!

Yeah, I totally forgot to type 2012 for the second Suwapyon in my last post. Don't forget to add Ultra and Four Dimensions for Suwapyon 2012. I've heard that Four Dimensions is stupendously hard. It'd be neat if the translation really is being worked on.

Decided to upload my scores, apparently my lunatic score is good, and the ultra score easily surpasses everything on the score board, but I think that it could be easily beaten if one fought the TLB.

16M is definitely possible by not messing up stage 4 (derp) and capturing a lot more spells. Oh and maybe dying and autobombing less :V

I need more consistency on some of these patterns. There's just too much of a PIV penalty for getting hit.

Also I experimented with some supergrazing on stage 1. I'm not sure how much of an effect graze has, though.

I wrote a few more notes about the gameplay mechanics here (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,15844.msg1044657.html#msg1044657).

Suwapyon 2012 - Very Easy - B
Karisa - 3,148,081 - C - 0.00% - Replay (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=13340.0;attach=34544)

I decided to try the sequel, since it seemed to have a better camera angle and soundtrack, among other things. It's much more fun than the first game. At least from my impression so far.

It seems point items on Very Easy (why does this mode exist anyway?) are worth 100 points, plus 1 per 100 graze. It may seem like very little, but I think it adds up. If you can gain 1500 graze off Kogasa's and Shou's nonspells (simple enough if you don't overshoot Shou's second nonspell like I did here), times 8000 point items, it'll be worth 120,000 extra points, more than an average spell bonus.

Anyway, I had some silly spell failures here, and haven't learned a consistent method for collecting point items on stage 4 and 5 yet, so this is easily improvable by at least 300k. Iku's star spell seems like it's just surprisingly hard, though, unless there's a trick I'm missing.

Suwapyon 2012 - Very Easy - B
Karisa - 3,579,783 - C - 0.00% - Replay (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=13340.0;attach=34549)

Ooh, I found a glitch!

Actually, I've seen it before in... Uwabami Breakers, I think it was? But I discovered it accidentally here.

Anyway, the idea is that if you bomb a spell while it's activating, you'll still deal damage, but won't lose the spell bonus (in contrast with the official Touhou games where either you fail the spell anyway, or the bomb deals no damage after the spell begins). It's not fully utilized yet, since I wasn't always thinking about it. It's probably good to bomb as many spells as you can, though there are some places (e.g. both boss Yuyuko and Iku use 4 spells in a row) where it doesn't look possible to suicide for the bomb refill without losing a capture bonus.

Suwapyon 2012 - Very Easy - B
Karisa - 3,595,284 - C - 0.00% - Replay (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=13340.0;attach=34551)

Please excuse the extremely silly and costly mistake at the end. After getting hit on the final spell (cost ~130,000 from the spell bonus), I decided to stall for graze to increase the value of the final point items by a few ten-thousands, but forgot that this game's patterns time out the instant the displayed timer reaches 00 (as opposed to 1 second later). So 500 point items didn't spawn, costing an additional 142,500 points right there.

Anyway, aside from that, I think I have a decently polished scoring route for Very Easy now, that should be worth at least 3.8m without mistakes.

Edit: Fixed Very Easy PIV-- it should be 1 per 100 graze, not 1 per graze.

Looks like I underestimated, as usual. Failed Iku's first spell because this was like the first time she ever aimed at me in all my attempts, so I wasn't expecting to need to dodge. Everything else was captured, though I think there were a few spells where I planned to bomb but forgot.

Suwapyon 2012 - Easy - B
Karisa - 6,666,799 - C - 0.00% - Replay (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=13340.0;attach=)

3 failed spells. The first one was from unfamiliarity with the Easy version after playing the Very Easy version (the difficulties are for the most part not that different, probably because this game's range is spread over 7 difficulties instead of 4), but the other two were rather silly (the final one was from failing to press X when I was trying to bomb).

I sort of wish there was a clear bonus for remaining lives, around the level of DDC, that way there'd be not as much incentive to spend lots of bombs on easier collection during stage portions (even still finishing with 3 lives with my current route)... well, this route will have a use for a few more bombs on Normal, at least.

Nice scores everyone!

Just a quick update to the submitting format to make it consistent across all the scoreboards:

Quote
If you have cleared the game, please label as C! If you died on Stage 7 (only applicable for Normal difficulty and above for Suwapyon 2012, Lunatic and Ultra for 2010) then please put 7.

Would people like a distinction for runs that defeat the TLB (and TTLB for 2012 Four Dimensions)? For instance, C-ALL or something similar.
Title: Re: Suwako no Danmaku Pyonpyon Daisansaku & Suwako-chan Cubic
Post by: Karisa on December 03, 2013, 08:12:19 PM
Stage 7 is only applicable in the 2010 game, actually... The TLB(/TTLB) is still in stage 6 in the 2012 game.

Labeling runs that do/don't defeat the TLB in the 2012 game (the 2010 game forces it in Lunatic/Ultra 1ccs, apparently) seems fine with me... Though perhaps it should instead be whether or not you defeated the book in stage 3? That not only triggers the TLB on Normal or higher, but also triggers rainbow Patchouli in stage 3, and Lily Black in stage 4, on all difficulties.
Title: Re: Suwako no Danmaku Pyonpyon Daisansaku & Suwako-chan Cubic
Post by: Shimatora on December 03, 2013, 09:05:07 PM
Correcting it now. What notation would work best for signifying whether or not you defeat the book? *-H for hidden? (where * is the Stage number or C)
Title: Re: Suwako no Danmaku Pyonpyon Daisansaku & Suwako-chan Cubic
Post by: SomeGuy712x on December 03, 2013, 11:48:38 PM
@Shimatora:
I'm not sure what notation would would best. Whatever others decide to go with would probably be fine by me.

Oh, and in the first post, you put:
Quote from: Shimatora
If you have cleared the game, please label as C.
If you died at the TLB or TTLB in Suwapyon 2010, please just put 6.
If you died on Stage 7 in Suwapyon 2012 (only applicable for Normal difficulty and above) then please put 7.
If you killed the book in Stage 3 in 2012, please put *-H where * is the Stage number or C.
But, I think you have mismatched info on the middle two lines there. Isn't 2010 the one that goes to stage 7, while 2012 only goes to stage 6? And, isn't 2012 the only one to have a TTLB? Or does the 2010 game have a TTLB as well? Also, is it possible to access the TLB in 2010 on difficulties below Lunatic?
Title: Re: Suwako no Danmaku Pyonpyon Daisansaku & Suwako-chan Cubic
Post by: Karisa on December 04, 2013, 12:56:54 AM
I'd probably go with 3B, CB, etc (B for Book). Or perhaps even a lowercase b, like with the Cb of IN submissions, so the stage number is more prominent. It could be confused with an IN-style alternate route, but if it's explained at the top I think it'd be fine. Doesn't pretty much everyone defeat the book anyway?

And yes, the TTLB is in 2012, and stage 7 is in 2010 on Lunatic and above... and if you're pretty much saying it's always the stage number (without any difference between dying to the TLB or before it), is there much purpose to including those two lines in the first place? It might be unnecessarily confusing...

Well, I decided to go back to Easy mode in Suwapyon 2010 and see how much I could improve on my old scores, and...

Finally! This took me so many tries to 1cc Ultra with Suwako A for some reason. I have been practicing the later stages, but I often screw up somehow during real runs. Even in this run, I somehow took several stupid hits against Marisa and Reimu in Stage 6, and it looked as if the run was toast once again. But then, I did unusually well against Reimu's last two patterns and many of the TLB's patterns, allowing me to win in the end!

I kinda had a lot of stuff open when doing the very easy run, so the delay got a tad high  :( Still submitting it though, since it's a big improvement over Karisa's run but it's still very unoptimized.

Oh and forgot to mention, 5m is totally possible and shouldn't be too hard with this route.

I'm going after Jaimers's ultra 17m run next huehuehue

Indeed. Thanks for finding the supergrazes.

I got confused when bombing Lunachild, resulting in one spell bombed too late (failed the bonus) and two spells not bombed at all. And in stage 6, I failed to properly suicide before Iku, then failed two of her spells. Then I took a lot of hits on Tenshi's final. I also skipped grazing Lunachild's second-to-last spell, and Tenshi's final nonspell, since I was too inconsistent on them, so the run could've finished with at least 6000 more graze. So definitely improvable by at least another 400-500k.

Suwapyon 2 is now free! You might want to put that on the thread.

Suwapyon 2012 - Ultra -  B
Nwodatek - 20,890,930 - ALL - 1.40% - Replay (http://www.mediafire.com/download/q513795e8mn85cy/)

So scoring in this game is basically graze as much as you can? Might give Four Dimensions a try later, and maybe try scoring on a lower difficulty or Extra.

Nwodatek - 21,762,561 - C - 0.89% - Replay (http://www.mediafire.com/download/2knm28lftifkfsf/)

Today I decided to give this another shot and I did it. No TTLB because, really, what the hell.

Maybe now I'll try to score on Normal or Hard, I don't know.

Also you might want to change that ALL to C on my Ultra score, I got confused with the formatting.

In the end I decided to go for Lunatic scoring :V.

Suwapyon 2012 - Lunatic -  B
Nwodatek - 27.090.496 - C - 0.57% - Replay (http://www.mediafire.com/download/qe9t171kdc9dkgq)

First try after practicing a bit. Not a good run, I made a lot of mistakes. 30mill should be possible with this route and if you milk every pattern then the potential is even bigger. I'm not sure how worth it some spellcard capture are, it helps of course, but it seems if you milk them you get more points in the end.

Maybe I'll try to score on Extra next. That being said, I'll love to see more people trying this, since this game is now free from the developer website here: http://www.utgsoftware.net/games/suwapyon2HD/patch.htm and the game is pretty good, infact is my favourite Touhou fangame so far.

Oh, right. I did download this some time ago when I learned that it was free, but I've never made any attempt at actually playing it yet. There wouldn't happen to be an English translation for at least the main menu options available somewhere, would there?

There's no translation as far I know :(. However you'll be using the first 3 options on the Main menu only, for the most part. First one is Start, second Practice and third is Replay. I made a quick edit on paint translating (badly) every option in the menu here (http://i.imgur.com/V847kuG.jpg)

Umm... Could you maybe also provide translations for the Practice menu, and the dialog box that pops up when I first start up the game (I can guess what some of those things are, and I know that clicking the button in the lower-right corner starts the game).

(I've attached screenshots of the Practice menu and what the startup dialog looks like for me.)

The best I could: Practice Menu (http://i.imgur.com/dQto02m.jpg) ; Start up dialog (http://i.imgur.com/abv1WQW.jpg)

Hope it helps!

By the way, for anyone who doesn't know, the book flag is whether you kill the book midboss in stage 3. It changes the patterns of the stage 3 boss, replaces Lily White with Lily Black for the stage 4 midboss, and makes the TLB appear in stage 6 on Normal or higher.

Actually I'm wondering if that should be indicated in the submissions-- perhaps using "C+" instead of "C" for clear with book defeated...

Alright, thanks!
If anyone can more fully translate the Startup dialog, that would be nice, but at least I understand most of the Practice options now.

EDIT: Where are the replay files saved to? I did a full run that I want to post here, and I don't know where to look for the replay file.

Moar scoars :V.

Suwapyon 2012 - Extra -  A
Nwodatek - 19.315.070 - C - 0.52% - Replay (http://www.mediafire.com/download/au31zcawg1ymhtz)

Suwapyon 2012 - Extra -  B
Nwodatek - 20.132.653 - C - 0.31% -Replay (http://www.mediafire.com/download/l6oaxqxa184451b)

Both runs were pretty bad, missed a lot of spellcard bonus (they're worth it in Extra, since they're quite big) and missed plenty of graze oppurtunities.

Also I think you missed my previous Lunatic score:

Suwapyon 2012 - Lunatic -  B
Nwodatek - 27.090.496 - C - 0.57% - Replay (http://www.mediafire.com/download/qe9t171kdc9dkgq)

In the Startup dialog, click the left big button. That will open the folder with the replays.

Also yay for more people playing this!

I think it should. Patchy EX first spellcard can be grazed a lot, and the regular Patchy doesn't have anything like that. So the scoring potential is a lot bigger if you kill the book (plus is harder)

Thanks! Alright, here's my first full attempt at this after I did a few stage 1 practice runs:

Suwapyon 2012 - Very Easy - A
SomeGuy712x - 2,894,820 - C+ - 0.26% - Replay (https://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=13340.0;attach=37817)

I don't know why Iku's stars in stage 6 gave me so much trouble... Oh, well. At least that was the only place where I lost a life.

I found some scoreruns on Nicovideo (all by the same person, I think) that seem to be pretty high. Might as well link them here, since they could be useful to learn from.

Suwapyon 2010 - Ultra - 15,347,101,700 (http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm13309886)
Suwapyon 2010 - Extra - 3,014,380,760 (http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm13313222)
Suwapyon 2012 - Four Dimensions - 130,757,089 (http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm19674066)
Suwapyon 2012 - Extra - 25,162,645 (http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm19313439)

Edit:
Also, I think I've figured out the point item value formula for the first Suwapyon. (Difficulty ranges from 1-6 for Easy/Normal/Hard/Lunatic/Ultra/Extra respectively)

PIV = 25000 * difficulty * health * (1+graze/10000)

I wonder what it is for the second game...

Sadly, no replay; I accidentally hit Restart instead of Quit, hence why the delay isn't shown.

*In the sense that I beat Tenshi, but died to Shadow Suwako.

EDIT: Also, I reuploaded the Lunatic clear screenshot (http://oi65.tinypic.com/fxtd9x.jpg), so re-link if possible.

Since Shimatora hasn't updated this in nearly 2 years (or posted at all since March), I've gone ahead and updated the first post. It should be updated at the same rate as the other score threads from now on.
