I was bored one day and recorded a few ILs, but they're all (less than half a second) slower than what's on the board :<

I'll try to contribute something later.

Decent improvement on 10-6, but things didn't go that well after the third photo and I wouldn't be surprised to see another 5 seconds getting shaved off from this. Maybe 4-7, 10-8 and EX-5 can have ~5 seconds shaved off them too... 4-7 is my least favorite scene in StB at the moment(but obviously certain scenes are somewhat silly for speedrunning purposes, like EX-7 and 7-7 and similar scenes where game mechanics blocks your advance all the way until the last photo).

By the way, none of the best times have replays attached to them, and some of them are unavailable (or I just suck at finding them.)

Trying to beat the 3-6 time with the "spin around the top left corner" method, is there a faster method than that?

I know none of the replay links work, I got a replay folder directly from Namazu.  I just put the link in there in advance because adding links proved to be a hassle in the DSDQ process.

Nice!

I think the folder with the initial replays was posted in the previous accomplishment thread.

I didn't spin around anything, just kept to the left and snapped photos, dodging lasers when needed. Don't think that scene had that much depth in terms of positioning since it was easy to get full charge IIRC. If something looks cooler then it's better in that regard at least.

Individual Level.  The notation I got from SDA, which eventually this table will be submitted to.

That's a nice find, but far too frustrating for me to use. Most of the time I get pierced by the laser when attempting to dodge it (but not all of the time, which is rather strange, shouldn't it and aya travel at the same speed every time? does it depend on where Kaguya moves when she fires it?) and only about 15% of the time do I actually not get pierced. Once past that hurdle, moving back to squeeze between the second bubble and the laser is somewhat difficult, it does not help that I can't really tell if I'm getting hit by the laser or the bubble, my sense of bubble hitboxes is telling me that it has to be the laser that is simply bigger than it seems. Basically, it seems that getting between the bubble and the laser is nearly pixel perfect, if not totally pixel perfect. That + luck required to not get pierced makes it unlikely to use this strats several times in a row, even if it would indeed by a lot faster. Certainly too frustrating for me to try after the second photo is taken.

To be honest, I don't think IL runs are for me, all the randomness in this game makes optimization very annoying. In 9-4 for instance, you can easily get walled and forced to waste time by not charging as much even if you do execute this strategy for two or three photos.

I'll still look for scenes that I actually enjoy running this way. There's gotta be some of them out there. 3-6 is kind of enjoyable if you do it my way (normally It's one of my least favourite scenes. ) but I never managed to beat the time on the table. It does help that the scene is seemingly at least, static.

Re: Shoot the Bullet IL table: Remember DSDQ? This should be even better.
« Reply #18 on: October 20, 2012, 05:37:03 PM »
Maybe you are streaming in the wrong direction (same direction that Kaguya moves) or have other bad positioning (too much angle?), I always move a little to the right after the first shot and stream to the left since StB bosses have 100% reliably horizontal movements. If the bubble hit you there are only white sparks during the death animation, if the laser hit you there are some red too. I managed to do the thing twice a few times, but failed afterwards, and while charging for the third photo you'll actually have to do it twice in a row to really capitalize, and Kaguya moves at a different rhythm than she does for the second photo so it's a challenge... or perhaps impossible if she is as low as she can be on the screen, not sure.

I like all the scenes that force you to do something besides just random dodging while charging. 10-3 and 8-1 in StB and 8-4 and EX-7 in DS are quite nice to run because of how they work.

I'll try to give it another chance later then.

Tried beating the 7-6 time but was 0.02 seconds short at best, lol. Do you have a strategy to get higher charge asap? I'm trying to spread the bats a bit early on so some of them stick around for a later photo. Results vary greatly!

« Reply #20 on: October 20, 2012, 05:53:31 PM »
I didn't plan to save any bats, but occasionally a few bats remained between photos. Bats themselves don't generate as much charge as the knives so it might be a good idea to save some early bats for the second/third photo. Not sure at all about this though.

It's quite hard to tell while running. I won't dwell on it any longer, though, moving on to Ex-6:

I am not an expert on this scene but I feel rather comfortable with this method. Any closer to Mokou and I get hit, though. This is definitely improvable IMO at least 99.xx is attainable.

Ex-5 is interesting, but I kept getting forced to waste time. Doesn't seem like there's a way to manipulate Mokou's movement or pattern direction in this one (the general pattern is aimed, but the way it "bends" seems random) but if there is, I'd love to know.

Don't think there's much to do besides try to react quickly to the mokouwalls. You can "stream" the walls while charging if you are really close to Mokou, but Mokou moves too often for that to matter much. Maybe sticking close to the sides of the screen instead of the bottom is a good strategy for this scene though, since you get longer reach and all.

I'm guessing that 140.xx is possible with perfect luck.

Going higher and to the side of the screen is most likely faster but I kept getting hit by pebbles while trying to squeeze between the bubbles. 70.xx anyone?

4-1 also needs a swift third photo and max charge regain from that.

10-4 can probably be improved by 2-3 seconds if you dodge stuff higher up on the screen during the third sixth and seventh phase. Also maybe doing side of the screen streaming on the second and fourth and fifth. Not 100% sure about my way of handling the last 3 phases either in terms of waiting for charge refill there. But it might be good as it is.

Changed the way I do the first photos on 8-4, giving a good chance of leaving first phase with max charge at the earliest possible moment. Also changed the positioning for the fifth photo to potentially give more charge. 8-5 is now devoid of all macrododging, using a method I discovered a long time ago but never really tried seriously. 9-4 is improved through better strategy, dodging through 2 murder barrages instead of 1. Last photo was too slow for 110.xx though. Might redo later, maybe... In EX-6 I dodge close enough to not have to pan up the viewfinder when taking a photo.
