Title: How to run AoCF in Wine.

In this thread I am going to tell you how you can run AoCF in Wine, so you can play this game on MacOS and on Linux.

You need

• winetricks (https://wiki.winehq.org/Winetricks)
• Wine Development 3.2 or later (https://wiki.winehq.org/Download)
• Your computer must be 64-bit

The procedure
Using a separate winepreifx is very recommended. In order to set your wineprefix run:

cd /folder/to/wineprefix
export WINEPREFIX=$(pwd)

• You need to install d3dx11_43 with winetricks. (winetricks d3dx11_43)                                               
• You can now navigate to your AoCF installation folder with cd and run wine th155.exe. If you are using the Steam version, you need to install Steam in your wineprefix (winetricks steam). You can then use cd $WINEPREFIX/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/Steam and wine Steam.exe to launch Steam enable Proton in the settings for the native Linux Steam client and click play on the game's page. MacOS users will have to resort to running a full Steam client in Wine.

Notes about dxvk: This game uses DirectX11 for rendering. This means that using dxvk will make the game render using Vulkan. Simply run winetricks dxvk to install dxvk.

I finally did it. I updated this thread to mention dxvk and Proton
