The buster from Megaman X ?) the danmaku's power depends on the amount of energy that composes the projectile, on it's elemental attribute, and on how fast you make it go, so you use that to measure it, and that'd where the root of your problem is.

I'll roll 1 D20s, if the result is higher than 14, you get an pass, but since you have come up with the idea of a rhythm and due to the training you have been through, it should lower to 12, anything between 12 and 6 should give you an neutral result.

And.... 14, you get a pass ! Lucky !
