The Visit

I can feel it.
As I lay in bed reflecting upon this past day, a smile crosses my lips. I had been preparing lunch when she dropped by uninvited, as always. I don't mind it, though. I like it when Marisa stops by. She's always so happy and energetic; the whole world seems to grow brighter when she's around. "Yo! Is anyone there?" a familiar voice shouted through the door.
"I'm in the kitchen, Marisa!" I replied, my heart leaping inside my chest. I thought she might come by, so I'd prepared a little extra than usual. "I made a little too much rice this time, if you'd like some." I said as she walked through the door, smiling as beautifully as ever.
"Sounds great!" she said, sitting down at her usual spot. I placed the food on the table and sat down opposite Marisa. I looked into her eyes and imagined a place far away, perhaps from a distant dream. A place only we knew, far from the cares of this world... "Are you okay, Alice?"
"Uh, yeah! Why?"
"You zoned out. Am I really that boring?" Marisa said with a laugh.
"No!" I replied, "I was just thinking."
"What about?"
"Uh, nothing important." I hesitantly replied.
"Okay, then." Marisa said, smiling, and then returning to her food. Only my heart's desire, Marisa, I thought, Only my heart's desire... "Alice."
"What?"
"You're doing it again."
"Oh, sorry!" I replied, my face turning red.
"You're really spaced today, aren't you?" Marisa asked.
"I guess." came my weak reply.
"Listen," Marisa said, "tomorrow's the Hakurei Shrine Festival, right?"
"I guess it is! I completely forgot about it!"
"You wanna go with me? It'll help you clear your head, yeah?" Marisa asked enthusiastically.
"Uh, yeah! I'd love to go with you!" I said, my face becoming an even deeper shade of red.
"Great! I'll pick you up early, say nine?"
"I'll be ready!" I replied, my heart soaring across the sky, painting it a multitude of colours. We finished eating, and Marisa left, but for a while I stood looking up into the sky where she had disappeared into the clouds. "I love you..." I whispered into the cool breeze caressing my face, "...Marisa." As I closed my eyes, the vision of our place returned, and my heart began to sway.
She likes me. I can feel it.
Tomorrow will be special. <3

It's my first fanfic. If it's any good I'm thinking of turning it into a prologue and continuing on with the story.
