Lily Black grew up in a strained family. She was expected to love that which she felt she had no connection to. As the designated Herald of Spring for the family, She trained everyday as a child to spray colorful Danmaku, representing the blooming Flowers and scattering of flower seeds across the land. She was taught how to love Spring.
...Something that is impossible to teach.
Love is a Mysterious Magic, researched by few, but one thing we do know is that a lack of love will turn even a cheerful fairy sour. What can anyone expect, but an eventual turn.
At the young age of 1,372 when a Fairy is barely grown her own wings, Little Lily Black set off away from home. Her parents died shortly after she left. Several times.
Setting off, she continued to search around until finding the idol of all Fairy kind. The Self-proclaimed Strongest Fairy, Cirno. In finding a great opportunity to seek the profound wisdom of the strongest Fairy in Gensokyo, she asked her which direction she should take in life. Should she choose to pursue her own path? Or should she return to her training to announce spring to Gensokyo?
Witness Testimony tells us that these were her great words of wisdom.
I like frogs. Sometimes, I like to catch frogs and freeze them. My favorite part is when they thaw out and move around again. Sometimes I break them, and they stop moving which always makes me feel sad. But I keep doing it anyway because I'm getting stronger!
From that day forward, Lily Black knew what she wanted to do with the rest of her life.
And the Rest is history.
