Title: The Mizuhashi Parsee Anthology Project
Post by: Observer on November 10, 2009, 02:20:08 AM
INVIDIA.

Warning
A huge battleship
Green Eyed Jealousy
Is Approaching Fast!

Quote from: Machikado/Mapoze
Mizuhashi Parsee Anthology Project

*
I'm jealous of the light above ground.
I'm jealous of the gentle breezes.
Here's an anthology for those of you
who envies, is envying or is envied.
*

There are many envious issues in this world.
This is a project to have Parsee do
something about this envy.

Information: http://mapoze.com/pub/prs/ (http://mapoze.com/pub/prs/)

Fire away, guys. For all you jealous, envious and sad people. For everyone whose eyes are those eyes, I mean, whose eyes overflow tears of jealousy and envy. For the troll under the bridge in you. For Yuugi x Parsee.

I would prefer Talka or someone else with more credentials to keep this thread rolling so we can stop spamming the other one.

I missed the Aki anthology, so bring me up to speed on this one. Is there any literary input, or is it just doujins?

The Aki anthology was anything and everything. Short stories, comics, artwork, music, even a game and some accessory straps. This one might not be as ambitious, but I imagine they will take pretty much any kind of print media and maybe music too.

I may or may not do something for this. It'll depend on how much motivation I have though.

I'll probably sit this one out, as I got sucked into another project a few days ago.  Good luck everyone!

What about a stepfile or a Parsee mini-pack for stepmania?

Be patient. Nakasako now more selective in accepting contributor because some circles from overseas causing him trouble when arranging Aki Sisters Anthology Project.

I must start drawing now, btw :D

I actually had a translated template prepared to be posted a week or so ago, but I thought I'd wait for the Aki Sisters mailing issue to be resolved before I posted anything new... I guess it was about time.

Hooray! Updated list of participants at the site. The list suddenly grew bigger. Time to get the "grey cells" (quoting Hercules Poirot) working. So jealous... So envious.

edit: someone has to do the ultimate Yuugi x Parsee.

When are you expected to submit the work? From what I can make out of the site it's released in March, but I assume you want submissions a month or so earlier. I'll try to find some time to come up with something for this...

Roukanken: By the end of February, wasn't it?

I've started writing my script, it should work out alright I hope... 3? pages done already.
Funny how it's so much easier to write this than to write the script for my own comic...

I am going to put in a fan fiction and maybe an artwork. (This one would be very time consuming, considering my *ahem* lack of coloring ability)

Any ideas about the deadline?
Title: Re: The Mizuhashi Parsee Anthology Project
Post by: Observer on November 12, 2009, 03:44:36 PM
Check the about section:

http://mapoze.com/pub/prs/about.htm

You have a table with the dates and deadlines. By Christmas we have to apparently submit the roughs. January gives another month to fix errors/horrors. By February's first week you better finish all as this goes to print. Reitaisai is apparently on march 14th?

edit: looking forward for the english template mentioned by Talka. Up the irons!

I'm pretty nervous to send an e-mail to them about my participation, though.

Maybe semi-colored drawings are accepted as well? But I might be asking too much Parsee from my sister. >3<

Contact Address for the Anthology

Indeed, give Nakasako some time. Especially when he paid (and will pay...) such insane amounts (EMS is an insane thing for me, almost alien, and I'm paying one for some stuff N-Forza got so I know how painful it is :V ) to send everything to us.

The english guidelines have been uploaded to the site. Absolute final participation deadline is by the end of the month so I guess people should begin to worry if no reply arrived by that day.

But make sure to check the participants list if you sent a banner because it will show up there. In lack of reply, if you appear there, then all is right with the world. Patience, patience.

Ok, out of energy. Going back to sketch my next surreal green-eyed monster and some additional brainstorming.

They'd probably notice the date when you sent them, if you're worried about something concerning that (though I think it's likely that that's not the point :x)

Patience. I think if we'll send them another email, they might, well, not accept the participation request for the pestering done, or something... Though in another side of the thought, it may not be our fault to become impatient on our part.

Which reminds me, I haven't sent the email yet... *will try composing... after finishing with saving some stuff*

Today's the last day for Parsee Anthology Participation Request or something.

Nov.30 Participation Deadline (Confirm by Email)

So here's one of things I'm unsure about ._.
Do we have to send the email on or before Nov30 or does the confirmation email have to come on or before Nov30?

If it's the latter, then I don't see why we don't have to be...... welp... nvm >3<

When in doubt, send the mail. I sent one just in case.

Sadly, I can only say "patinece" because half the people are getting ready for Comiket so I fear a lot of things will be put aside until January or so? Don't lose the faith.

I sent an email with the first part of my story in a Word document ... and then I immediately saw that the format-requirement was in PDF. Ah, well, you win some you lose some ... (and at that point it was already 3 PM in Japan)

>3< Alright. Thanks for bringing up my faith. Phew~

I've sent my email morning of Nov30 that my sister is eager to participate (illustration). Despite her college schedule, she said she's very delighted to draw Parsee, so why not try.

From my understanding, those format is for final submissions in 1/16 and 2/7. A Word document does sound not-so-nonWindows-friendly though, but it's still a draft, so maybe they'll accept it?

As long as you already send the email before 30 november. I think you got the chance. I cannot guarantee if you will be accepted, thought.

Also, since Nakasako now need to be more selective in accepting participants, just give him time to make the decission.

Gotta write my draft now, only 16 days left before the draft submission.

Ok, seems Nakasako updated the Parsee list. And, damn if it isn't updated. The list is even bigger than the Aki Sisters Anthology? Is he sure the book will be smaller? At this rate it'll end up being twice as big  :V

I finished my artwork and sent the preview. I'm looking how to send the PSD file, it's incredibly big, I went way too over the top with the resolution...

Need to start writing the little story and kick my brother at the lower rear so he finishes the solo piano arrange.

I just made my own and started. Since it's going to be A5, just draw on an A4 paper with 1,5 cm margin or so. I upscaled it to near B4 size so I have more space.

On B4 paper: 0,8 cm outer margin on the long sides and 1,2 cm margin on the short sides. 2 cm inner margin. Anything outside the outer margin will be cut. Be sure to downsize the images digitally to A5 before sending them.

Ragathol> Looking nice so far! Needs more Yuugi, which I'm sure you'll include right?  :V

With Comiket finished and Reitaisai coming in two months, there will be so much :parsee: here...

I cannot seem to make anything mildly funny. I always end up in the serious business type of story. This time is no exception but I'll make it a bit more tender (and full of sob sob ronery Parsee... I blame it on that Christmas drawing of Parsee crying alone until Yuugi comes in!) besides slamming mad jealousy.

All that people that bought damn Samidare Archive before we could even put our claws, GRRRRR, so jealous.

edit: I submitted the final file of my illustration and my brother finished his solo piano piece so I submitted that too. Now, to finish the story!

GAAAH, almost done with the story but I hit another writer's block. Damn. I'll see if I can finish tonight once and for all.

Also, they updated the project page... Does anyone think we can contact Talka & Co.? Am I the only one who thinks the font picked looks like Harry Potter or something like that? I liked more the pretty kanji used for the Aki Sisters front cover...

Other than that, seems things are slowly starting to take shape.

Good luck with that. I sent my stuff on late saturday (I was all: "it's still 16th here, it's still 16th here")

By the way, Nakasako put up an uploader... sadly, I guess it's redundant now that I sent everything via megaupload.

http://mapoze.com/php/up/

I just hope I won't have to put up everything there too. If anyone has to upload stuff be sure to place DLkeys (and DELkeys once the book is ready) to each file and mail them to him because that folder has public access and at work we learned to be paranoid regarding public access.  :V

Ok, got another reply from Nakasako, he got the txt files and the music too.

My brother composed a 10 mins piano suite of doom and more. I've thoroughly heard this thing and it's quite nice.

Ah, I'm liking Ragathol's approach on the comic! On my short story she goes to the other way: the surface. After getting her ass kicked repeated times by a brutal and unrefined red and white miko and her ordinary black & white magician friend, she sends two priest to their deaths, goes to the surface and there she turns into what could be defined as 'EX-Parsee'*... before a certain someone comes to the rescue (and to rescue Parsee from herself, heh). Contains high doses of jealousy and tears.

Indeed, that's what (apparently) is going to happen. It's up to you guys to distribute the thing in all the ZUNistic and ZUNtastic powers of the KETUI and EVACaneer Doom D:

Else, well, there is the usual Melonbooks and such but guess it's not the same. Looks like the situation really fits Parsee...

edit: Hey, N-Forza, does this mean it'll be sold here?

・博麗神社例大祭7

か-48ab 「Brand-nyXX」のスペースに私はいます。エロ島です。

 ・例大祭合わせでパルスィ合同出ます。

Then Nakasako lists a bunch of booths/people.

Not at Reitaisai, you say... how troublesome. I hope it can sell ok anyway.
Nakasako asked me to use the color illo I had on the site for the book as well, but since it's just a 500x700px oekaki, it's really no good... so I made a new one(see it in the art thread). Was working hard the whole day to finish it, since he said he wanted it the day after, and I mailed it. Three days later I still haven't heard from him. Figures.

Observer: It's going to be sold by at every booth in that list on the website, but the one that you mentioned, Brand-nyXX, is the one that Nakasako himself will be at, although he warns it's in the "porno-island".

"Porno Island"...  :V I assume it's where those pervy pillows (or whatever they are) and hentai doujinshi are going to be deployed, right? Actually, scratch that. I'm not sure I want to know...

But good to see he is indeed distributing it by... by overwhelmingly distributing it across booths! (good one!)

Thanks for clearing. Then I can only hope you good luck during Reitaisai!

Ragathol> Don't despair as of yet. Maybe he'll reply during the weekend. I would be ripping my hairs at the amount of people involved and I assume he's doing something close to that. In fact, I think the lack of reply is a bit better. Sometimes, getting a reply is usually a sign that something went wrong and needs fixing... Patience seems to be the key again.

Oh, I'm used to late replies.. It's just that I worked for 9 hours on the picture, until 6 am to finish it in time and now it seems it wasn't so urgent after all, haha. Well, I kind of expected that, but it was still good to finish it in one go.

Ok, so it will be at Reitaisai after all, just not in his own booth?

Ragathol and everyone, time to be happy! I feel forced to add more enthusiasm and hyper-mode.

Today Nakasako updated the site with a PDF preview (my brother is still cursing at the artist because how well they draw, heh) and a music crossfade. The CD looks kickass!

edit: and, yep, seems he won't have a booth but will be feeding the anthology to a bunch of booths so they can all be envious and spew jealousy all over. :V

Looks like everyone made some extra effort this time, the overall quality looks much higher than the Aki book. And that wasn't too bad to begin with.
Let's hope it sells good.

I got this mail from Nakasako today:

"Thank you for sending illust and sorry to be late to reply.
I will use this illust for making 下敷き(a plastic board under paper)

And in the thread in the Gensokyo.org,
Everyone are talking about that I am in erotic-island.
This time, my circle Mapoze has not pass to join.(落選)
So I asked my friends' circles to sell.
And a friend who gave me the ticket of Reitaisai,
was a member of Brand-newXX.
So I am in erotic-island.

About the book, this time there is no box or goods sheet.
So it looks cheaper than Aki but contents are richer than Aki.
And because lighter paper is used for the book,
shipping cost is lower than Aki.
This time we can ship the copies soon after Reitaisai.
We are planning ship 2 copies."

Well, judging from the PDF, the book will look quite awesome anyway. I just hope those translations on the side were just for the PDF... It looked a bit messy.
Who did that roughly inked story with Parsee sulking under the bridge? I kinda liked that style.

Sooooo... this was put for sale during Reitaisai, right? The erotic tactics probably worked wonders, heh.

And, Ragathol, you got featured at Melonbooks along with Walfas:

http://shop.melonbooks.co.jp/shop/sp_machikado_paru.php

It's also for sale at White Canvas! Thus, international buyers can also get it. So, yup, wise move from Nakasako & co.!

I'm in Tokyo now, and I saw the book at Comic Toranoana today *_* It looks very thick and nice.
I didn't buy it now, but I might later. I should have gotten the package back home as well, but I didn't have time to pick it up before going.

Oh, boy, that's awesome! In fact, go and empty the shelves with doujin shooters. Go get Diadra Empty, Hellsinker & Co. (MESSE-SANOH) Or pick Kitsune's Workshop or other arrangers' goodies?

By the way, it seems Nakasako ran into trouble with White Canvas, watch out with that:

http://mapoze.com/diary/10-04/index.php

It might also be important to let other people know as they are the ones that supposedly carry items overseas.

I was also wondering what was the status on this... If you can get the book please do so, my brother is incredibly annoying regarding how the CD sounds. :V And I wonder how the color pages look (Nakasako mentioned the paper was a bit different compared to the Aki Sisters Project)
Title: Re: The Mizuhashi Parsee Anthology Project

I'm not really interested in shooters... I play Touhou mostly for the music and story, so I can make fanart and comics from it.
But I bought some of ZUN's music albums, and I will buy at least SA and maybe some of the other games.

I can't really read much Japanese, so a blog like that is impenetrable for me. And I don't know what White Canvas is either...

The book is kind of expensive, around 2600 yen, but you certainly get your money's worth. It's printed on matte paper, even the color pages, but the print is good, and the colors look nice.
Listening to the CD now, but it's pretty hard to determine the sound quality with these cheapo headphones connected to the built-in-screen speakers... Sounds alright, I guess.
The comics in English are translated in the margin, as we saw in the preview. It means the page coverage is smaller, but it should be easier than having to flip back and forth to the text section.

White Canvas is one of the several doujinshi stores and he had problems with them. Big ones apparently. Now it seems Nakasako posted a surreal phonecall he had with them.

This is getting heavily weird and I'm wondering if I shouldn't ask N-Forza to perhaps pick one copy of the book just in case... I mean, sooner or later my brother will hang me by the balls if I don't at least show him the book and the CD, which has one of his tracks so he has all the right to do so... I dragged him to the dark corners of Toehoe, heh. :V

Uh? o_o Did he reply or something to you? I got no message at all since the last confirmation when I did the final submission back in late january.

Mmmmmm... Maybe I should ask about this just in case.

No reply, but I got a package that should be it. Didn't have time to pick it up before I went though.

In other news, Akihabara is totally crazy with Touhou now. When I went here last year, it was a lot, but now it's totally over the top.
Comic Toranoana has 4-5 whole floors with Touhou stuff ONLY. It's everywhere. Most of it is uninteresting, of course, but it's so much it's hard to even sample it.

I'll just be patient and wait. The book will arrive in front of my door, eventually :D

Meanwhile, I'll just let myself frustrated because of Touhou Double Spoiler (stuck at Momiji's stage  :( )

Same here I guess. But did anyone get contacted by mail or anything? I'm kind of worried the post office here screwed things up =/

Ragathol: I think the bonus CD is a dorama album with, indeed, his music as the BGM.

Bumping this to see if anyone besides Ragathol got any news.

I noticed Mileuda participated too and asked Nakasako. I asked myself as well and, apparently, he's not in Tokyo at the moment so we gotta wait a bit longer.

Sucks to be last in line, heh...

Well, time to resurrect this from the dead. Patience was worth.

I just got the package Nakasako sent and...

... and I'm speechless.

I knew it was going to be pretty, as it's usual with these "exotic" (from our local point of view) japanese stuff, but it exceed my expectations. It's AWESOME! (rainbow coloured awesome)

Argh, words fail me. He also packed a bunch of stuff and even gave us two copies of Fairy Wars. Insane.

My only slight complaint is that I wish this had a bit more exposure earlier...

Don't worry, apparently, he's planning another one and this time make it with overseas people in full.

But, yeah, this is what I meant about the lack of exposure... Needs moar promotions (of the good kind).

(because paruparu is the greatest)

Either way, I look forward to the next project

My bad. Another anthology, but it could include Parsee Jealousy too if it's based in Touhou in general instead of a series of characters in particular. No idea what he's planning though.

I really love/hate Japan now. I mean, nowadays, printing a book with dust covers in our country became economically impossible due to the paper costs being ridiculously insane and a huge mobster-like distribution structure, without taking into account the lack of high-tech CTP methods and other publishing issues... Yet the book comes with this awesome golden letters and pretty drawings, and a nicely printed CD... ARGH, Japan!

Nakazako has mentioned doing an all-overseas artists anthology at some point, probably as his next project even. Of course, I'd wait until he makes a real announcement.
