h0pe - Progress Update!
« on: January 12, 2011, 03:14:46 PM »

(Updates are shown in red font)
h0pe is a shoot-'em-up game made with Danmakufu v0.12m, set in a futuristic-abstract world.

If you have played my older scripts, you might have noticed that I like syncing stuff to music. But this time I wanted to make a whole game where all stages stages are synchronized with the music. This is also the reason why the game will focus more on dodging; the player is unable to shoot so that the scripts don't end too early.

Estimated Difficulty level:

Story:

"What happened to her?

It was our last mission. We were to investigate a base in the depths of space that broke off all contact a long time ago.
But there was only that mysterious "sphere". When we approached this thing it emitted a bright light and I saw how it moved towards us.
And then she disappeared."

"What happened to him?

I already felt that something was strange when we investigated the base that was void of all life. There was nothing but that "sphere" in the center of that base. Suddenly there was a bright light and this thing started moving towards us.
And then he disappeared."

The game begins at the point where they enter the object that is referred to as the "Sphere".
The full playthrough is split into 2 parts, where you play from "his" or "her" point of view.

Since I can't record gameplay, I made a "Trailer script" that you can download and "watch" on Danmakufu.
Is there anyone who could record a video of this script for me? I would like to upload it and I would really appreciate it if someone could do this.

To do:

-Main game:  Done. Just finished the last stage. Now I'm working on the connection between the stages.
-Menu
-"Connecting" all stages to the menu
-Bonuses and unlockables
-Recording the music

Thank you for reading!

I once said that I wanted to finish this game in this year, but now I think I won't finish it this year. I'm still working on this game, I will finish it, now that I have come this far, but I've just entered an university and it takes up some time (or maybe I still haven't grown accustomed to the fact that holidays are over...).

Here you can find all of my older scripts. Most of them are bossfights:

Touhou Daifukkatsu
I wanted to make a script that is still difficult when you use the Daifukkatsu Player Scripts...(so you can't really use the normal player scripts...)

Well, I used Sanae and just 1-missed it. Probably because her hypers refill this fast and they're easier to strategically use.

BTW, me is ILoveVideoGames12. Nice to have you around here now.

Post a replay of a no-miss of this script, then I'll rework it  :V

First: Nice touch with the hidden Ultra mode.

Second: I got through the first part just fine, and then
Spoiler:
came the King.

You bastard.

Ehhhh.... The defeat message upon defeating Hibachi on that Touhou Daifukkatsu script...
Isn't that common Danmakufu knowledge?

By the way, PDotIskender, if
Spoiler:
The King
was hard, you should see
Spoiler:
Zetsuai
.
Not too hard, though...?
Learn to tapdodge. And watch for "invisible" (as in, hidden) bullets.

(Also, man. I used a hidden feature without knowing it.)

Replay below. (You won't believe that last attack...)

There's YET ANOTHER ONE?

Yeah.
Its first sprite is sorta creepy...
Then the second sprite looks... eh... "what?"-like.

(Sorry for doubleposting, is there another way to "bump" a topic without making a new post?)

Update: Added some screenshots, a bit of this game's story and a piece of music.

I don't think there is a way to bump a topic but I also don't think it matters since your updating your thread with new content.

Armor is a fine word for the metal around a ship. You could also use "hull" which refers more to the entire body of the ship.

I'm very curious about the game play here, like what armor, shield, and energy do, and how you score points.

Thanks, Imosa. It's not as complicated as you think. Armor and shield are just the equivalents to lives and bombs, but I thought it would be unfitting here because you control a ship (that is unable to shoot) and not a human character like in the Touhou games.
And about energy...For now that's a secret, but it's nothing too complicated  :)

From Saturday on, I will be away for some weeks. I'm sorry that I won't be able to reply for a while.

Update (shown in red font): Finished the main stages of the game. Added a new "trailer"-like script that can be downloaded and "watched" using Danmakufu 0.12m:

Yes, the story is pretty much finished. Even though it's a danmaku game.  :V
I'm currently working on the connection between the stages.
