Oh lol, I don't even remember what the riddle was and have to check. :V

Are anchors involved?

Did the third person think the Spaniards were drowning? (or at least in some kind of danger?)

Are natural hazards involved?

Was the weather condition at the time of the accident related?

The captain sailed his large ship past by the smaller one carrying the Spaniards and the waves drowned them.

NO. You may assume the third person didn't notice them.

Only in that it rules out causes like a storm.

Looks like I'm onto something! :V

So the two ships never came in contact?

Did the captain sink the smaller ship deliberately?

Did the captain want something from the smaller ship?

Did the Spaniards' boat touch any other meaningful object? An extension of the larger ship (like a lifeboat)? An iceberg/rock that they had to hit to avoid the larger ship?

Back to start posting stupid questions now ._.

Hmm, it has something to do with an extension of the larger ship, YES. However I can't answer yes to the whole question as it is.
Think about something: Was it asked before what the Spaniards were doing on the ship anyway?

:V

The two Spaniards were fishing on their small boat, when a large boat came sailing by. The large boat was caught in their fishing... net, causing the Spaniard's boat to overturn.

Was there an extension from the smaller ship? Were the Spaniards trying to do something to the larger ship? Did the Spaniards possess something that directly caused them to sink?

My brain feels dead right now. Is this going in the right direction? :ohdear:

YES. However, I will not be satisfied with this alone. How could it happen that the large boat caused the small boat to overturn without the captain noticing it?  :3

Was there an extension from the smaller ship?
YES. That would be the fishing net.

Was the fishing net responsible for the overturning of the boat?
