Oh gah, another death?  What did we do?  I think my easy late game with Meiling is coming back and biting in the butt.

Oh gah, another death?  What did we do?  I think my easy late game with Meiling is coming back and biting in the butt.

Nah, twas mostly my stupidity. I haven't seen anything past DLevel 8 in months so I'm both not very good AND what skill I have is rusty.
Without any further ado, here's my run.

Alrighty, when we last left our hero, she looked more or less like this:

Let's see here, we got us a bunch of unidentified stuff, lots of food, a handy wand and a knife.
We appear to have a pretty sweet flail, I have no idea what "distortion" is supposed to do, so that'll be fun.
We appear to have recently started worshiping Okawaru. I'll just head down and start killing stuff, I guess.

Oh, level up already. That was my first kill.
Picked up some stones just for jellies. The flame wand is half-empty (or maybe half-full) so I've got some stones just in case.

"Mima the ruinous is an average deep elf conjurer"
Mima looks a lot like Suika...
So I just run up and bash her. I mean, I'm barely 100 turns in. I can afford a restart if she fireballs me a couple of times.

"Mima's ghost suddenly disappears!"

Huh. I'm not quite sure why that happened. 5 attack air commands yield no results, so she's probably gone and not just invisible.
Aside from Mima, level 5 is pretty empty. I'll just head on down.

Ahah, one of the few things I know about this game is that "Jade Ring" sometimes means "Ring of Shaolin".
Well, it's uncursed. So that's a good start. I'll check if I'm right later.

A generic orc patrol. The wizard should make it a little interesting...
...but he doesn't. This distorty flail is pretty damn powerful. Also it turns out that the flail is what made Mima (and a couple of orcs) disappear. Who knew?

So anyway, basic reflexes make me pray->chop up->all on the chokepoint.

Huh. Oh right, I read about this! Distorty weapons have an unfortunate habit of doing bad things when you unwield them.
I suppose I can just get piety through killing stuff then.
And I've got at least a billion nutrition points worth of food.

A ring shop. Doesn't look like I can afford much though.
Rage might be nice, but I don't really need it.

Oh, and I find this:

Glowing AND dwarven? Looks like we're about to get another overpowered item.

+1 and fire resistance. Hahahah, that's just great.
Speaking of powerful items though, this distorty weapon is making the game so boring.
I mean, half the time I 2-shot whatever I hit (My record is instagibbing an ogre)
And the other half of the time it just disappears.

It's quite boring.

Picked up a book just because.
I was kind of hoping for something easier to learn, actually. Discarded.

More boring fights yields:

This. I think dyed means randart. Or maybe just enchanted. I dunno, I'm testing it either way.
And it is:

Magic resistance! That's handy, I suppose. I'll keep it for now.

Note: Yes I am descending pretty quickly. I suppose it's boredom combined with the fact that I haven't been finding any food.

"You feel stronger."

Another level, off a pack of killer bees. They were nice enough to attack me one by one, actually.

Here's some message history...

Evocations, yay. Also a wand of draining, that's nice too.
And a snippet of boring combat. My throwing skill repeatedly fails me.

Yeah, missed another screenshot so I just got the message history again.
I get another wand, zap it 3 times and then it turns out to be teleportation.
Huh. I probably shouldn't wasted those charges.

I do manage to kill the hobgoblin before he gets away though.

"Book of Changes".
Bah. Why can't one of them be cantrips?
Confusing touch is hilarously handy for a non-mage. I don't know where I'd get the 12 intelligence from though.

Mooore booring fights... oh, hold up:

A gila monster, whatever the heck that's supposed to mean.
Doesn't turn out too badly for me.

This floor has a few gila monsters, actually. Most of them did 10 damage then died like everyone else. At least they're actually dealing damage this time.

Oh, another thing this floor has:

A shoppe. Nothing I don't have, bar the poison resistance.
Thinking back, I probably should've gotten the potions, but it doesn't matter too much.

My next fight actually turns out to be slightly hard!
Even I know that orc warriors can screw you over pretty badly, so hopefully this'll turn out alright.

My rage at his super duper sword is only surpassed by my joy for something finally happening.
Bashing him turns out not to work, so Suika's going to need to be a little more creative...

There we go. Even with Suika being as dumb as a box of rocks she can still point a wand and yell.
First confusion attempt works.
He kills his buddy behind him then I mop up. I suppose it was kind of lucky that he hit himself instead of me.

Turn check... around 2000 now. Maybe the latter half of my turn'll be exciting.

Hey, wand of fire. Nice.

Hey, more magic armor.
Oh haha, it's more fire resistance. Discarded.

Oh my, another exciting fight!
I'm not entirely sure what the heck that thing on the right is, but it looks like the kind of thing that eats paralysed heroes for breakfast.

Mighted just in case. It hit me for 14 damage, so I want to kill it fast.
Oh wait, it's just a wyvern... they aren't as strong as you'd expect. I don't think I've ever seen one since I got the tiles version though.

2-hitted the Wyvern, instagibbed the eye and the bat.

Ah, here's the RNG's punishment for my boredom. I was wondering when that would happen.
A hill giant, giant iguana, jellyfish and electric eel.
I suppose it would've been prudent of me to go back up the stairs, but who am I to ask for excitement then not jump on this opportunity?

Oh, whoops.
Bah, wasn't expecting him to walk 1 square and then hit me in the same turn. I had a wand of confusion and everything.

Ah well, can't win 'em all. (Image poorly edited as to not identify any unidentified items)

I had a decent 2500 turns, I'll just add a death to the counter and move on. I believe Xan is next?

Correct. I want Ramus to add Sakuya to the sheet first though, since I think we I might get somewhere with a Spriggan Assassin

How bout no.

And technically, it's InuSakuya, but there's no sprites of her.

Well, Either Ramus or you are going to have to do that, because sprite editing is not one of my skills

That's what I get for putting all my points into conjurations and maces & flails.

As a side note, I would like to point out that if you come across detrimental identified items in a shop (Such as negative stat rings, for example), you can buy them to spare yourself the trouble of having to identify similar items later, since they're usually sold at 1 gold each.

Well, another failure on my end, BUT THERE IS HOPE!

[13:49] <Xan> Hey, this is Xan
[13:49] <Ramus> And this is Ramus.
[13:49] <Ramus> And I'm going to make fun of him while he plays Crawl.
[13:49] <Ramus> Assuming he lasts that long.
[13:49] <Xan> Today, we're trying something a bit different.
[13:49] <Ramus> We're playing as a dog!
[13:49] <Ramus> A female dog!
[13:50] <Ramus> Of the devil!
[13:50] <Ramus> That also doubles as a maid!
[13:50] <Xan> Yes!
[13:50] <Xan> So moe!
[13:50] <Ramus> Eh sure, if beastiality/furry is your thing.
[13:50] <Xan> Ears and tail doesn't count.
[13:50] <Xan> Furry is full body.
[13:51] <Xan> To sumarize, Fox is a furry.
[13:51] <Xan> Ran Yakumo is not.
[13:51] <Ramus> Eh, whatever.
[13:51] <Ramus> Just go.
[13:51] <Xan> I am.
[13:51] <Xan>
[13:52] <Xan> Here we are.
[13:52] <Ramus> I forgot just how badly Spriggans' str is.
[13:52] <Xan> As you can see, crazy low strength, but we don't need it.
[13:52] <Xan> Since Assassins don't use it.
[13:52] <Ramus> Warrior spriggan?
[13:52] <Xan> Lol.
[13:53] <Xan> Well, I think they'd roll higher for that due to class.
[13:53] <Xan> I believe stats are geared towards your class.
[13:53] <Ramus> Still would be sucky.
[13:53] <Xan> Yes
[13:53] <Xan> Well, the speed would help make up for it.
[13:53] <Ramus> Nah, it's mainly the race's stats.
[13:53] <Xan> These guys get two turns for everyone elses 1
[13:53] <Ramus> But the class add on finally touches and the actual abilities.
[13:53] <Ramus> Yeap.
[13:53] <Xan> They're still slower than bats.
[13:53] <Ramus> Except the Naga.
[13:54] <Ramus> Naga is sluggish.
[13:54] <Xan> But the speed REALLY helps.
[13:54] <Ramus> Anyway, get moving.
[13:54] <Xan> And, this is not good.
[13:54] <Xan> Gnolls, Floor 1
[13:54] <Ramus> oh lol
[13:55] <Ramus> Welp, good luck.
[13:55] <Xan> And I'm stuck in a corner.
[13:55] <Ramus> Screenshot please.
[13:55] <Xan> Hah, Escape hatch FTW
[13:55] <Xan> But there went all my needles.
[13:56] <Ramus> Needles are useless anyway.
[13:56] <Xan> Need to find up staircase, asap.
[13:56] <Ramus> Unless their curare.
[13:56] <Ramus> they're*
[13:56] <Xan> Nah, poison's pretty nice, actually.
[13:56] <Ramus> Eh, poison melee is generally better in my experience.
[13:56] <Xan> And I am level 3 already
[13:56] <Xan> Put point into Dex.
[13:57] <Ramus> How?
[13:57] <Ramus> Killed some Gnolls?
[13:57] <Xan> That and a snake.
[13:57] <Xan> I killed two gnolls.
[13:57] <Ramus> Geez man, get some screenshots of this next time.
[13:57] <Ramus> It's not every day that a Spriggan kills two gnolls off the bat.
[13:57] <Xan> Bah, it was just poison.
[13:58] <Xan> And I could do it with a transmuter too.
[13:58] <Ramus> Stick in the mud.
[13:58] <Xan> And I just owned the third one.
[13:58] <Xan> hehehe.
[13:59] <Ramus> Screenshot?!
[13:59] <Xan> Once again, poison.
[13:59] <Ramus> Geh.
[13:59] <Xan> Don't worry, I got one of the kill message.
[14:00] <Ramus> Okay.
[14:01] <Xan>
[14:01] <Xan> Thar we go, PROOF!
[14:01] <Xan> Fudge.
[14:01] <Ramus> ?
[14:01] <Xan> Should have re-equiped my dagger before trying scrolls.
[14:01] <Ramus> Yes, yes you should have.
[14:01] <Ramus> Simple guide to identifying scrolls:
[14:01] <Xan> I don't need a +0,+1 blowgun.
[14:01] <Ramus> Equip your weapon.
[14:02] <Ramus> Make sure it's bladed so you can eat.
[14:02] <Ramus> Second, make sure to have an unidentified piece of armor with you.
[14:02] <Xan> Yeah.
[14:02] <Ramus> Lastly, make sure an enemy is nearby.
[14:02] <Ramus> Under these conditions, you can figure out or identify what each scroll is.
[14:02] <Xan> I usually forget the last one.
[14:03] <Ramus> Still takes some trial and error though.
[14:03] <Xan> And the first one is kinda a non-issue for spriggans.
[14:03] <Ramus> Right.
[14:03] <Ramus> Cause they don't eat meat.
[14:03] <Xan> Yup
[14:03] <Ramus> Unless you get stupidly lucky with mutations.
[14:04] <Xan> Actually, Pesco tested.
[14:04] <Ramus> And?
[14:04] <Xan> It's impossible for them to get Carnivore off of mutations unless you specifically give it to them using Wizard Mode
[14:04] <Xan> That's debug for those of you who didn't know that.
[14:04] <Ramus> Oh.
[14:05] <Ramus> They must have changed that from 4.3 to 4.5
[14:05] <Ramus> Cause I could do that in 4.3
[14:05] <Xan> I don't know what version he was testing on.
[14:05] <Ramus> Hmm...
[14:05] <Ramus> Whatever.
[14:05] <Ramus> Status update?
[14:05] <Xan> Searching floor 1 for items.
[14:07] <Xan> Found a, no, make that 3 scrolls of Identify.
[14:07] <Xan> Hell yeah.
[14:07] <Ramus> FUCK YEAH
[14:07] <Ramus> Now go find some rings to use those on.
[14:08] <Xan> I now am the proud owner of an Amulet of Resist Mutation.
[14:08] <Ramus> WOOT
[14:08] <Xan> Equiping that.
[14:09] <Xan> Also, a wand of Fireball.
[14:09] <Ramus> That deserves a FUCK YEAH
[14:09] <Ramus> Just don't shoot it if you're next to the enemy.
[14:09] <Ramus> I died once from that.  >_O
[14:10] <Ramus> Gotta love it when you lose an awesome character by your sheer stupidity alone.
[14:10] <Xan> Of course.
[14:12] <Xan> And here is (an out of date) shot of why Spriggan's are amazing assassins
[14:12] <Xan>
[14:13] <Xan> And here's where I just slaughtered some dudes.
[14:13] <Xan>
[14:14] <Ramus> Puddle of blood means you hit someone real hard.
[14:14] <Xan> Yes.
[14:14] <Xan> That happens a lot.
[14:14] <Ramus> Still, I have yet to see a screenshot that matches Meiling's go in the Elven Halls.
[14:14] <Xan> We'll see, yes?
[14:14] <Ramus> Of course.
[14:14] <Xan> Anyhow, Level 4.
[14:15] <Xan> And OH GODS, SURROUNDED BY ORCS!
[14:15] <Ramus> RUN!
[14:15] <Xan> But thanks to my insane speed, I escaped, killing all but two.
[14:15] <Ramus> Yayz.
[14:15] <Ramus> How's the HP doing?
[14:15] <Xan> And a fireball owns them.
[14:16] <Xan> 7/19.
[14:16] <Ramus> 7/19?
[14:16] <Ramus> Oh, uses.
[14:16] <Xan> No, health.
[14:16] <Xan> Not that it matters.
[14:16] <Xan> Basically, we shouldn't be getting hit.
[14:17] <Ramus> Hurr.
[14:17] <Xan> The only real threat is if we bump into sigmund.
[14:17] <Ramus> Yeah, what still the City of Dis.
[14:17] <Ramus> wait until*
[14:17] <Ramus> Grammar died there.
[14:17] <Xan> And Terrence is dead.
[14:17] <Ramus> Regardless, if your AC isn't high, you'll have to bullet time dodge to survive the explosions in that place.
[14:17] <Xan> FFFF died.
[14:17] <Xan> Got overconfident.
[14:18] <Ramus> Screenshot?
[14:18] <Ramus> What happened.
[14:18] <Ramus> And you better post this.
[14:18] <Xan> Decided to try to sneak attack a worm and a cockroach that hadn't seen me.
[14:18] <Xan> The worm woke up.
[14:18] <Xan> I figured I could take it.
[14:18] <Xan> I was almost correct.
[14:18] <Ramus> Ow.
[14:18] <Xan> Ah well.
[14:18] <Xan> I'll do better next time.

Re-signing up.

And yes, I can do better than this. My attack on the worm was, as I said, overconfidence. Mostly in my ability to hit things. I somehow managed to miss it enough times for it to smack me down. Still got it down to seriously injured, though, which goes to show how much damage Spriggan Assassins can pull off.
There are people in this world who enjoy being alone. But there isn't a single person who can bear solitude.

Died on the first few turns of my Crawl run. I'll be signing up once more.

Alright, I decided to go through Patchouli and this time do what I had planned...
Head back to the lair and proceed to the snake pit...

Where Patcholi left off she proceeded to the shop and bought every scroll from the store. For she knew she would need them. She then traveled up back to the floor where the lair stood and entered.

She quickly traveled down till she reached her destination....

THE SNAKE PITS

Here, this reigion is crawling with nothing but snakes of all shapes and sizes. Troulbe could come from any corner... Thankfully she has a ring of poison resistance to protect her from the venomous creatures.

Here we meet with one of the fellow resident of the snake pits.... The Naga...

These half human half snake beings are well, creatures that need to learn manners.... For one of it rude habits is usually spitting poisonous loogies into the faces of all those that it meet that they see as a stranger.

This is of course is rather nasty and Patchouli knew that once she was spat upon that her trip here in the lair would be rather unpleasent. So how does the greet him back? By blasting fire in his face of course.

Once she took care of the naga she continue to explore. Noticing that almost everywhere she went....snakes were present all around her...

She tried to take a different direction to look around but fell into a teleport trap which took her into an area full of more dangerous snakes...

Meet the Grey Snake. Unlike the black, and brown snake, the grey ones are considered the most dangerous because they are capable to traveling at an very fast speed to bite thier unsuspecting victims at a fast rate possibly not giving them even a chance to attack.

It is important that Patchouli steers clear from getting close to these as they will likely take her down if their bites are successful...

Luckly the snake was sleep and so she walked off and tacked the black snake and continued to travel around the lair till she decided to later engage the grey one by blasting it with a bolt of frost.

Second floor...

Patchouli continue downward and right as she began to explore she confronted another naga....

Meet the Naga Warrior, powerful naga who is skilled in combat, and also pocessed poisonous loogies that are quite powerful. Another creature which Patchouli is safe fighting from the distance.

Course with his duration, Patchouli had to resort to using her bolt of ice to take down the naga and the rest of his crew.

Which by the time she finshed the brown snake...

Patchouli leveled up to level 14!

Plenty of snakes later...

Patchouli came to realize that her magic while useful seem to misfire on some occasion, not that it was a problem, but with some of the issues that come from it, it could make her trip in the snake pit difficult is she miscasts too much. So she deicded to train her ice magic a bit along with spellcasting.

Seriously, she need to make her magic useful enough that it won't mess up especially in the later part of the snake pit.

She did however decided to make use of some of the snake corpses she didn't need to turn into food by making them into snake zombies.

At one point as she went through the door, she was surprise attacked by a grey snake waiting for her!

She was forced to retreat and have her snake zombies stall the grey snake till she had enough distance to cast her bolts of ice on the creature taking it out and adding her grey snake into her undead army...

Patchouli then came across a yellow snake. While no where nearly as dangerous as the other snake, it's threat rest within it's poison at it last longer than most snakes...

But of course with poison resitance it was no problem...

Patchouli than came face to face with a naga mage with a squad of other naga....

While the naga mage is not strong, it makes up it's lack of muscles with it's magic. Most times they carry fire, haste, and can even teloportation. But on rare occasions some naga mages care poison arrows...the most dreaded of thier spells because it's one spell that your poison immunity cannot protect you from 100%.

And also like other naga is also displays the rude manner of spiting poisonous loogies on Patchouli. (Yuck)

Eventually she made an army of undead snakes and naga that she took to the 3rd floor...

Many naga and snakes later PAtchouli came across two items...

A scroll of armor enchantment.... Which she use to boost her robe of resistance....

And then found a ring which once she put on she found out it was...

A rather wonderful ring. While not useful right now, she knew it could come into use so she kept it...

Later on she found a fainltly glowing ring mail.... while not important to wear at the moment, maybe it could be useful later..perhaps we should try it on...

She put it on but....

Mmmm? Could Hina been here? Either way, while it wasn't cursed itself despite the title... could it's properties be any good?

Simply...no

So Patchouli dumped the armor...

She then came across a cap

Could it be useful?

Actually the wizard hat was more better... as this was just a +2 cap. No good when you got a wizard hat of magic resistance....

Patchouli then found an amulet...but what did it do?

She tried it on but nothing was known so she identified it.

This could be useful.... protection from draining attack.

The scroll had the power for identify one more so I looked at our poisonous sword.

+0 +3

Not bad, it could become useful outside the snake pit.

Afterward Patchouli continued to the 4th floor....

Not much happened here as Patchouli took care of most of the snakes....

But the only highlight from the trip was the fact that Patchouli ran low on magic when she ran into a naga warrior.

SHe basiclly sent her undead snakes to attack the warrior while she retreated. A few scarficed themselves but in the end with a shot of her flame. The naga fell.

In the naga's equipment she found a sheild of cold resistance, that could be useful, but she'll have lighten her invetory if she plans to take it with her. And another wand of digging.

She was overloaded so she had to drop the wand of digging for now.... But maybe she could get it later....

Patchouli rested to regain her health but was attacked by a few nagas and snakes before she fully recovered....

Thus this ends my turn for Patchouli Knowledge....

Will she reach the bottom of the snake pit? What terror lurks at the bottom and is she ready to face it?

Stay tune for the next episode! (or whoever plays Patchouli...)

Here's the file!

[15:17] <Xan> Hey, this is Xan
[15:17] <Ramus> And this is Ramus.
[15:17] <Xan> And I have 4 Curare needles
[15:17] <Ramus> Let's not die this time.
[15:18] <Xan> Well, I know I can do this without getting killed.
[15:18] <Ramus> The RNG says otherwise.
[15:18] <Ramus> Don't annoy it.
[15:18] <Xan> What, I did 5000 turns without getting killed just yesterday.
[15:25] <Xan> Okay, found a Choko
[15:26] <Ramus> The only time in which those are actually useful.
[15:26] <Xan> Yes.
[15:26] <Xan> Anyhow, I'm having insanely good luck on my stealth rolls.
[15:26] <Xan> It won't last
[15:26] <Ramus> Heh heh.
[15:27] <Xan> And I now have a +2 robe
[15:27] <Ramus> Nice.
[15:27] <Xan> And a +1 ring of strength
[15:27] <Ramus> Eh.
[15:27] <Xan> indeed
[15:27] <Ramus> +1 is really much.
[15:27] <Ramus> isn'y*
[15:27] <Ramus> isn't*
[15:28] <Xan> yeah.
[15:28] <Xan> Besides, strength isn't really helpful for this class.
[15:28] <Ramus> Well, it still factors in for stabbing damage.
[15:29] <Ramus> You know, just how forcefully you stab the dagger.
[15:29] <Ramus> Or, um, to be grammatically correct, stab the target with the dagger.
[15:29] <Xan> Yeah.
[15:30] <Ramus> So, nothing exciting happening yet?
[15:31] <Xan> Well, my robe is now +3
[15:31] <Xan> But yeah, this is just going about average
[15:31] <Xan> I'm level 3
[15:31] <Ramus> Average is good.
[15:31] <Ramus> You're not being unceremoniously killed.
[15:31] <Xan> True
[15:32] <Xan> Hmm, a giant ant on floor 2
[15:32] <Xan> that's earlier than usual.
[15:32] <Xan> Oh well, free level up
[15:33] <Ramus> Ah.
[15:33] <Ramus> Overconfidence?
[15:33] <Xan> Nope.
[15:33] <Xan> It was already dead when I said that.
[15:33] <Ramus> Right.
[15:35] <Xan> FFFFF
[15:35] <Ramus> ?
[15:35] <Ramus> Dead?
[15:35] <Xan> Sigmund and a ghost.
[15:35] <Ramus> Ah.
[15:35] <Ramus> Might as well be dead then.
[15:35] <Xan> Not dead yet, though
[15:35] <Xan> STAIR DANCING!
[15:35] <Ramus> Regardless, do what you do best and RUN
[15:35] <Xan> And then I die to an arrow trap
[15:35] <Ramus> Oh ho.
[15:36] <Ramus> Now that's irony.
[15:36] <Ramus> No screenshots?
[15:36] <Xan> Nope
[15:36] <Xan> unfortunately

I start off by unloading more items in our stash on Lair 1. Then, I head down.

Nothing too unusual, until...

I wish a slow and painful death on whoever put this here. It has high HP and fire resistance.

Patchouli runs out of magic. She flees. It chases. She reads a scroll of teleport.

Now, I should mention that something had slipped my mind previously- That level 5 of the Snake Pit IS the last level, and contains a rune. Thus it is packed with countless naga warriors, naga mages and greater nagas.

Patchouli finds herself teleported right into the heart of the chamber- And next to the rune. She grabs it and teleports away as they slowly inch their way towards her.

She ends up in a small room, resting and recovering her magic. The naga soon find her. She teleports.

She finds herself in a corridor, with nagas approaching from both sides, and a stair upwards a few spaces away. They advance, she runs, she leaves with the rune!

There was still some time left, so I decided that going to the swamp to grab a second rune would be a good idea. It was not.

Since I have pictures, I shall neglect narrating and let them carry the rest.

---

Several things to note:

-Detect Creatures is your friend.

-Don't go into Snake Pit 5. I may have gotten lucky, but counting on luck in Crawl is sure to get you killed.

-Don't go into the Swamp yet.

-Sif Muna's magic regeneration ability is useful. Try sinking some points into Invocations.

-May I suggest we try the orcish mines to get some spare gold and exp?

Re-sign me up.

No no. Greed got the better of you there, thinking you could pick up 2 runes in 1 run. When you get a rune, end your run immediately and quit while your luck is ahead.

True.

Not really, no.

That reminds me, we should go back to the Lair 1 stash and grab Haste, it'll come in handy.

Ok I felt we could do this. I really think we could...yet I failed...

Long story short...

Patchouli continues through the 4th floor of the Lair... There were plenty of fish around her...

She pretty much desposed of them easily and then traveled down to the 5th floor...

It seemed normal at the beginning.  Patchouli even found an awesome battle axe.

Not that she could use it, but she decided to check it out...

It was an awesome axe since it was Trog's axe, but not anything she could use at all sadly, so instead she left it an looked around...

Afterward she ran into a new type of Naga....The Gaurdian Naga...

Guardian Nagas are hard to come by but yet can be slightly troublesome. They can use poisous bolts, teleport, haste, smite you and other things... and of course...spit poisonous loogies!

However they were weak and frail to Patchouli's magic. So they were disposed of easily.

After several snakes and nagas later, Patchouli heard a voice.

"You have done well appritice, take this book."

Patchouli found a book and looked at it...

A book of summoning, a somewhat good book that allows you to summon more powerful creatures... I debated about keeping it or not, but continued...

I rounded up lots of naga corpsed which I turned into an army of servants....

Then I ran into my brother's ghost....*sigh* I had to make a run for it! For I was ill prepare to fight against him.

Which is when I ran into this guy....

The Greater Naga... the most fearsome of all the nagas in the snake pits. Put the Warrior, Mage and Guardian together and you have the this thing. It can do pretty much all of the abilties the other can do and of course it's loogies are deadliest as well.]

I took a gamble and tried to teleport, but I failed to realize the power of it's poisonus bolts...

Two hits and then Patchouli was down!

I blame my brother's ghost (Assassin) for making me run into this thing....

Never had a chance to make a clean escape....

Sign me up again!

My advice, For Patchouli we should try again once more and plan very carfully....otherwise.... I think we should try the swamps. I mean the other places are a bit dangerous for Patchouli so we're going to have to take a gamble.

I hope you're all happy.  You got me playing Crawl.  And I keep dying very, very quickly.  Maybe because I'm not playing a Suika.

No, it's more likely you're just getting killed by the RNG. Crawl is hard. It takes equal parts luck and skill, especially if you are playing as a mage. (Even more so if you are playing as a necromancer. Their starting attack spell costs health as well as MP.)

As I pointed out in my earlier post, Snake Pit 5 is not a good idea due to the fact that it has several dozen nagas lurking around the rune. And not the weak types, either.

The Swamp is not particularly appealing either, since the last floor of the swamp tends to contain several hydras, swamp drakes and swamp dragons, along with insubstantial wisps that are nearly immune to magic.

My recommendation is to head back to the dungeon. From there, we can either cruise through the Orcish mines for some meager but easy exp and gold, or descend downwards. We can simply skip that one problematic level.

The Hive is considerably easier than the Snake Pits, and while it doesn't contain any rune it will net us some gold, exp, items and enough food to last us the rest of the game.

3 of the same runes from Panda land and we're good to pay Zot a visit. If we were spriggan, I would recommend getting the Abyss rune since running around a lot is basically how you find it.

Taking my turn.  And yes, I'm supposed to go before Xan.  Anyway...

With a title image this awesome, how can you lose?

Still here... anyway, kill Mima for second time as well as that annoying Jelly.  And by kill Mima, I meant sent her to the Abyss.  I wonder if she'll show up there or not.

After a fuck you from the game by being double smited while switching out weapons to sacrifice a gnoll corpses, I decide to say screw it and attempt to jump into the Abyss.

Did I mentioned I picked up a mace of protection?

Anyway, to the Abyss.  Or not.  I give up after nearly going hungry and dying to spatial warping.  We shall now main this Mace of Protection.  Also, potion roulette time.

Potion of Mutation gets me -1 str and -1 dex BUT +10HP.  Fair trade.
Potion of might, speed, slow, levitation, and confusion.

Onto floor 6.

Orc Priest, these guys can smite you as long as you're in view and I've had some bad experiences so far this run with smiting, so guess what I do?  That's right.

Get behind a wall!

The strategy works quite well.  Meantime, the mace of protection is +1,+2, which is good.  AND A +1 SCALE MAIL OF FIRE RESISTANCE!  FREAKING WOOT!

Find an amulet.  Going to try to identify it without the scroll.  Another wand of confusion.

Can't identify it, time to scroll.  Amulet of Resist Corrosion.  Nice.  And ring of see invisible.  Not bad.  Wand identified, it's a wand of draining.  ANOTHER WAND FOUND.

Nothing appears to be happening.  It's either empty or is a wand of healing...
+1 elven cloak.  It'll have to do until I find dwarven stuff.

Good old jelly eating Xom's altar.  Good boy.

Ring of Levitation.  AMULET OF GOURMAND!  Wooping HECK YES.  Kill an orc warrior for... BATTLE AXE OF FREEZING!

Found a smoking staff.  May be useful later, I'm keeping it.

Oh, screw you Totaku.  Experienced Mountain Dwarf Reaver... Time for a change in music.

Oh snap, just I just do what no one in this topic has ever managed so far?  WOOT!  THIS CALLS FOR A CERTAIN SONG!
And that's how we stuff around here mutherfucker.

Dire Flail found.  AND PLATE MAIL!  YES!  I'll still carry around the fire resistant scale mail though. 22AC.

Identify wand, it's a wand of digging.

There's something in there.  I just can't reach it.

+0 jewelled helmet.  I though it'd be an artifact...

Battle with an unique, Psyche.  She's a magic type... that tried to kill me by stabbing me to death with a knife.  It doesn't turn out well for her.

Oh frick.  Figures, I'm 500 turns away from safety, and Crawl just has to make one last attempt to kick my butt.

Oh wait, that wasn't hard at all.  Learn to use Yuka's Might ability quite well.

Kill count:
1 Hippogriff
4 Kobolds
3 Orcs
1 Big Kobold
1 Yak
1 Orc Priest
1 Orc Warrior

Total:  12

BUT WAIT!  THAT'S NOT ALL.

Eyeball stuns me while a troll, two headed ogre, yak, and orc warrior proceed to beat me down.  I use a potion of speed and run the heck away back up stairs.  WARNING for the next person, floor 10 will kick your butt.

But you know what?

I SURVIVED!  AND WITH A BOAT LOAD OF AWESOME STUFF!  AND I KILLED TOTAKU'S GHOST!

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES
