I'd say that I like the idea of AJ. I like Phoenix's portayal, mostly.

One thing they could have done at the end that would have been to overturn Phoenix's disbarment.

Actually, now that I think about it, they could easily have not had Phoenix getting disbarred. Think about it, 3 had you play as other people. They could easily have had Phoenix handle some cases and Apollo handle some others. Apollo would logically get three or four cases, Phoenix could have gotten a few, perhaps with more reappearences by old favorites, it would have worked out fine.

Agreed. And really? They effectively didn't have him disbarred, given he's the focal point for an entirely new legal system. Why would they give so much authority to a disgraced bum?

Well, it could be that the reason that we never see Edgeworth or Gumshoe etc is because they were working on getting Phoenix's disbarment overturned.

Also, Cammy's adorable but Calisto Yew is probably the cutest in my book. A shame her Objection voice is a cross between a 15-year-old boy and a horse.
