Hello friends, comrades, fellow-travelers, and all other kinds of forms of greeting for people I may or may not have ever interacted with!
I don't know about you all, but I love to cook. Cooking is fun as hell and yields things you can eat. To be honest, it's one of those life skills that is actually useful if you take the class in high school.
There's a whole world out there, and they've got their dishes. My aim is to work with artists in the community (I've gotten a preliminary statement of interest from our own Leo (
http://leomodesto.tumblr.com and
http://askudonge.tumblr.com) and test-kitchen the recipes, tweak for simplicity, and make some magic happen.
I'm all for good causes so hopefully we can do profits to a worthwhile charity.
I'd aim to keep ingredients to what's available at standard groceries or at reasonable cost from Amazon - with encouragements to check out local Latin, Indian, and Chinese markets for the good stuff.
The sky's the limit (depending on start-up costs vs. print-on-demand) but I'd love to get an idea of recipes that people would like to see. Of course, they'll have intros written up in-character! To spur creativity, here's a couple of ideas that I thought would be doable:
Flamenco Iku Arroz con Pollo
Utsuhoro Wat - Yatagarasu/Ethiopian Spicy Chicken Stew
Rin's Romanian-Rub Skirt Steak
Culinary Herb Gardening 101 with Yuuka
Suika's Key Lime Rum Cake with a Side of Rum
Nue Noodle Lokshen Kugel
Mystia's Pan-Seared Lacquered
Eel Salmon
Alice Lemon Meringuatroid Pie
Kawashiro Kucumber Tsukemono
Reisen's Asian Pear Preserves (literally, space jam - I'm looking at you Maullar)
So much of cooking is intimidating but it's time to spread the love and show how easy cooking can be!
Ideas? Recipes? I'd love to get things from other peeps. Share something you'd like to see immortalized in the first (known) Touhou cookbook!
