Behold, my own spellcard topic! Let's fill this up with random junk, and spellcards for the game I'm working on "Juuni Jumon" (Twelve Spells)

Kurumi 1 Lunatic "Domination Sign - Trap and Eradicate"
Kurumi's speciality is to hinder your movement or trap you.
A circle keeps spinning around you, making it very hard to move. But you better try anyway, because that laser is aimed at you!

Hotaru 1 Lunatic "Pyro Sign - Blast Shelter"
Remake of an older script. This took me literally all afternoon. No, longer even! Object shots and arrays still confuse me, but at least this works. For every difficulty the safe ring looks different. And lunatic difficulty makes it even worse by turning this into a survival card where the bombs keep appearing more frequently. I only managed to capture this once. ^^; (Maybe it's a bit to hard? ...Nah)

Youko & Amaya 1 Lunatic "Celestial Sign - Cosmic Rain" Watch me fail at this (I can't capture it, but I know it's not impossible, graar!)
I'm planning plenty of double battles for the game, so I figured I'd try making one to see how it will turn out.
Both use the placeholder Tomoko sprite, but they're really supposed to be witches.
First one to decipher the runes gets a free Wriggle.

It has 3 phases, all around the theme of "circles with 3 holes in them"
If you fail at one part, it automatically skips to the next, because otherwise you'd be staring at a blank screen during the last phase.

Well these are looking pretty fucking awesome. Hope you'll release a beta sometime soon -- really want to play these!

I'm still slaving my drawing-hand off, because the lack of graphics is what's slowing me down most. 16 characters in one game sounds fun to the player, but to draw them all, with different outfits and emotions, and then the sprites ingame, and the cutin... X_X
But I have a vacation soon, so I can work on this with a bit more tempo. Just gonna draw the witches' sprites first...

Ah, but the first half and a bit more of stage 1 is already done. Mechanical wise.
I'm still lacking a background and all non-Tomoko (avatar) characters. :P Oh, and ofcourse will white Reimu just not do...
...I should reserve another week.

By the way, do you know how to draw images OVER the player?

Object Bullets? How unusual!
If I'm not mistaken, the stage bar for Concealed the Conclusion appears on top of you, doesn't it? And I've seen a Mystia-like spotlight before too. I looked into the code, but couldn't figure out how they set it up.
But I'll give it a spin tomorrow, so what else you can do with Effect Objects. (like drawing over the menu on the right, I want to do either that, or just change it midgame, which apparently is possible somehow...)

At least, that's what Hele used for the visible hitbox, I think.

That's because they custom coded everything to do with the graphics and don't use a single default Danmakufu function anywhere.

I decided to be unoriginal and make one of those "random" scripts myself. After an afternoon of work, this rolled out of danmakufu:

I can think of more things to add, but it's complete enough as it is now, so I'll leave it like this. Maybe I'll update it someday. Maybe...


This script can make quite a lot of variations by using normal bullets, lasers, circles, streamed shots, walls...


I love messing with ovals. There's a chance that the oval will be angled as well, and it can shoot it any direction...


If you're unlucky, you'll be covered in darkness, in the middle of a shrinking spotlight. >=D


This spellcard can sometimes really inspire you, if I say so myself.


It's not always possible though ^^; Might have to tweak the limits a bit. Sometimes it's way easy, and other times you get this. Hehe...

You can change the difficulty by using the first few variables ^^;

I'm working on a second version now. This "old" one uses CreateShot01 and friends, but the new version has SetShotData instead. It even has Addshot, for more awesomeness :3

By the way I edited the cutin the 520 part to 300 to prevent the image repeating thing.

Ah, I had a bit of trouble with that. But the picture is probably just a placeholder for something bigger anyway. But at least now I know which number I wasn't looking at. ^^

Does anyone else get addicted to this too? Whenever I start, I just can't stop! I should never have made this!
But at least it's nice for random inspiration. :P

By the way, I updated my avatar. Now I can wait even less until I finish the game... Hnnnngggh!

I used to be short on music (Trying to make this game without Touhou music, so my choices are limited), but now I have too much to choose from. D:
