>Shuuei nods as you speak, setting her papers aside leaning forward. At least, you think she leans forward, it's hard to tell. Her face is unreadable, but you want to imagine her expression is stony just to fit the lack of information that the distortion around her gives you.
>"So you're saying you ran into a marchstepper," she says at length. "And thus proven there's one out there. That's no good. Salve's on the third shelf to your left, fifth one from the bottom. ...Take a clean rag from there too to clean it with."

>You begin to treat the wound. You had been ignoring how sore it was, and hadn't really looked at it, but now that you have, you can see why Shuuei might have been so willing to just give you supplies. The stone weapon didn't really cut you so much as tear the wound open. It has bled freely for a bit, but seems to have mostly stopped by now, but it has certainly ruined this dress beyond salvaging, even if the cut wasn't there. This will leave a nasty scar, no doubt. You clean it out as best you can, then apply the salve, and feel the pain  ebb away instantly. By the time you are done applying it, you are certain the spot where you first applied it already looks better.

>"Seven mon, then," she says, reaching under her counter, fiddling with something, then placing a few small objects on the counter. Once she removes her hand, their blurry forms resolve into seven coins.
