Shining Shooting Star not getting past title screen [SOLVED]

So, every time I try to open SSS, this is what I see almost instantly:



I'm running Windows 7, in Japanese locale. Other Touhou games I've tried work fine, it's just this one.

I wish I could give more information, but I have no clue what's causing this. My computer is ancient, so it might just be that, but it seems strange that it would just crash before even getting to the main menu

Are you running the game in Japanese locale? It should be in Chinese locale.



If that doesn't work, then I think it has to do with the locale program you're using.

I use LocaleSwitch on Windows 7 and it works perfectly.

Once you've installed LocaleSwitch, run it.

Fill in the .exe location for the first line, and set the third line to "cn". Don't worry about the second line. Then press the lower right button (Or to avoid having to fill this all in again, the lower left button makes a shortcut) and it should work fine.

does this work on windows 10?
i'm using locale switch, but when i press run it comes up with a message saying "cannot open nls file"
the game runs when i press ok. but it crashes after about 15 seconds of loading as usual.
i am on windows 10. and i seem to be the only one in the universe with this problem, as i have done extensive research and have found no solution.

any ideas?

I have read that in Windows 10 the Locale Switch does not work because .nls file is missing in windows 10  , you are not the only one that does not work for you. And I have not found a solution for this . Sorry for bad english
