1. Intro
 AoRY is a classic, Zun-style danmaku (not danmakufu) game I am currently developing. This game features Ran Yakumo, Yukari Yakumo and Chen as playable characters. The plot takes place some time after the events of th12 (though it's not really important). Each character has his own story line, with Ran's storyline still being considered to be "the main" (it all begins with our favourite foxy... or not really).
 Ran's storyline's plot lies around Chen gone missing after she went fishing to the Misty Lake - and residents of Scarlet Mansion, undoubtfully, have something to do with it... yet not exactly known what.

 The game will, as usual, have 6 stages in Story Mode and 1 Extra Stage, 4 classic difficulties - with "easy" being slightly easier than normal of PCB/IN and "normal" being as difficult as normals of SA, UFO and LoLK.
 Each of three characters has two options of weapons (shot type and focused/unfocused bombs), six in total. Controls are as usual: Z,X,arrows, left_shift...

 All characters used are from original Touhou series (no original character will ever be in this game). Personalities of all characters are based on canon (being, sometimes, "exaggerated" for purely cute comic purposes).



2. Current progress and future plans For now, I am using Zun's sprites, art and music. After the game would be 85+% done, I'll look for artist and musician.
 Currently, I am fully concentrated on making pure Boss Run (stages 1-6), since after I get a new music, preboss part of stages will have to be ramaked according to the melody.

 Nearest plans:
  • Implemeting of all 6 player-weapon options (shot types and bombing)
  • Remaking some spells of Boss 2, Boss 3. Boss 3 rebalance
  • Easy, Hard and Lunatic for Bosses 1-3
  • (somewhere at this point I plan to make Demo)
  • Implementing Bosses 4-6
  • Cosmetic effects (spell background, flares, other graphic)
  • Replays
  • Dialogues
  • Scoring system
What has been done:
  • Most of game engine
  • Normal difficulty: Boss 1 - 100%, Boss 2 - ~80% (scrapped 20%), Boss 3 - ~70% (scrapped 30%)
  • Ran A (shot type #1)
  • [to be scrapped] stages 1-3 preboss part
  • Plans and ideas: for plot >98%, for gameplay >85%
To be done much later:
  • New art (sprites, dialogue portraits)
  • New music
  • Art for endings and prologues for each of 3 storylines
  • Final difficulty balance/perfecting (unless it's really-really balanced and perfect)
  • Implementing Extra stage (plot/dialogues are ready long ago, unlike spells)
  • 3D - backgrounds
  • Menu

3. Changelog

 **.**.2012 - started to learn programming using Delphi, with AoRY for practical purposes.
 **.06.2015 - ressurecting AoRY. Old code makes my eyes bleed.
 11.08.2015 - created this thread.
 08.12.2015 - report#1
  • fixed bug where game would run not at 60 fps sometimes
  • fixed bug when bullets spawned by familiars during boss fights sometimes didn't disappeared.
  • fixed lots of drawbacks of game engine, refactored bad code structures (I am a professional programmer now! Not like before. )
  • finished Boss 1
  • implemeting player's options currently, soon to be done



4. Inviting anyone to a Skype conference

 I'll need a musician some time.
 I'll need an artist some time.
 I need an extra source of motivation.
 I need someone to discuss my progress with and get some feedback.
 I may need new, fresh ideas from someone.

I am glad to see any person there (3 people currently, including me).

Older versions of AoRY project, being done throughout years by not "very proffesional programmer" (me :blush: ), having lots of other things to do in real life.

(unbalanced and to be scrapped in few places)

to start the game, you'll usually need to press L (press later P to start it over again). С removes bullets, V destroys enemies.

a normal Demo is intended to be released in some monthes.

I have already played stage 2. The game can run without any crash.

To find a music maker, I know someone who make Touhou style music on Youtube. It is not hard if you find them by yourself. You may do not need to request any new songs from them. They made several songs. You just choose which songs to use and ask them for a permission.

Wanwan created a lot of songs before The Last Comer has been released. Some Japanese Touhou fangames use these songs too.

For 2d sprites, I recommend you to use a THC style instead of Zun's sprites. Some Japanese danmakufu games use those sprites too.

Hey, theoryofnekomata, I listened to your melodies, but all of them are "hard rock/heavy metal" or whatever that genre is called, they don't sound like touhou. Only "Back To When We Once Was" composition can be used for bad or normal endings.

skydash, I thought a lot about what "THC style" means, google redirects me to "Tetrahydrocannabinol" (kind of drug) ??? Finally I think I understood, do you mean those "danmakufu sprites" that have been used in Concealed the Conslusion?

I would like to know more about the project and see more progress when it gets released.

I happen to make music ( see this for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEK6iuVD4Xc ) but I'm following a very busy schedule. Sorry for the inconvenience..

yes, you understand right.

THC style sprites are the sprites in Concealed the Conclusion.

For now, so many characters sprites in this style was made.

Well, what exactly do you want to know?  :) I can tell you a lot... I can tell you all the dialogues for all 7 stages, for all 3 story character routes, with prologue and endings included (expect my high-quality humor here :blush:), or I can tell about game specifics like all planned player's shottypes and bombs, planned stage bosses, their preliminary spell card patterns, etc...
 and that will take lots of time, both to read and to write ::)

yup, it's a good idea, since there is enough people.

And one last question - Is the game completed or not?
no, it will have all 6 stages as any other normal Zun's danmaku game. Currently, I "have programmed" three stages, but they all will be remade into smth interesting and balanced, once someone makes me a music for these stages.

 I updated the 1st post (completely rewrote it ::) ).
 Wrote report#1. Not update#1, just report for now (no matter how much I like new last spell of the 1st Boss, it's to sson to release smth).

 For now, I'll write short reports and update main post, to show you that the game project is not freezed.
 Still accepting people into the Skype conference, it's fun to work on project when you have someone to discuss it with.
