Game Guide:

Controls:
Z-Select/Jump
X-Cancel/Shoot
C-Use Ability
V-Open Menu
Esc-Close Game (DOES NOT SAVE)

Let's start with the basics, picking a save file will throw you into a long dialogue-only scene that I can't read because it's all Japanese. The game begins with a character select screen including: Remilia, Sakuya, Patchouli, Meiling, and Flandre (returning to this screen saves the game). Some characters have slight benefits over others (Meiling is more powerful, Sakuya jumps higher). Pressing 'Z' on one of them will bring you to the item select screen, you won't have anything here yet, but the items are:

---

First Section: Use

Use items are items that you, well, use. Going into the menu screen during the game (press V) will allow you to select the item you want to use. They are also the only items in the game that are for purchase at the Kirisame Magic Shop.

Cake S ~ Heals a small amount of health.
Cake L ~ Heals a large amount of health.
Red Scrap ~ Teleports the player home.
Blue Scrap ~ Teleports the player to a selected shop. (Levels 1,2,3,5,7,9, and 10)
Kawarimi ~ Aka Koakuma, revives the player to full health upon death.

---

Second Section: Equip

This is the Metroidvania aspect of the game, the Equip items. Finding Equip items allows the player to get to more places in the game. Initially, you can only equip two items, but can upgrade the cap to 3 if you pick up the Slot. The first two rows are character specific, belonging to Meiling, Patchouli, Sakuya, Remilia, and Flandre respectively. The first row of items give the character an ability (activated with C, only for Remilia and Flandre). The second row of items modify the character's shot type (Meiling just gets more power).  The third row contains rings that give various effects.

Meiling:
Glove ~ Grants Meiling the ability to break the blocks in Level 3.
Wristband ~ Grants Meiling 3 more stars of power.

Patchouli:
Grimoire ~ Grants Patchouli the ability to use the teleporters in Levels 6 and 7.
Ribbon ~ Grants Patchouli the ability to shoot 8 purple bullets around her.

Sakuya:
Boots ~ Grants Sakuya the ability to jump ridiculously high.
Knife ~ Grants Sakuya the ability to throw knives that travel farther than her normal bullet.

Remilia:
Wing ~ Grants Remilia the ability to fly by holding C.
Spear ~ (Named Gungnir on the map) Grants Remilia the ability to throw an enemy-piercing spear.

Flandre:
Booster ~ Grants Flandre the ability to dash forward at high speed, works over gaps.
Sword ~ (Named Laevateinn on the map) Grants Flandre the ability to throw a large sword in place of her normal bullet. Has a bigger hitbox than other shot types.

Rings:
Power Ring ~ Grants the user 2 additional stars of power.
Range Ring ~ Grants the user farther bullet range.
Vital Ring ~ Grants the user more health.
Speed Ring ~ Grants the user faster movement speed.
Yumega-Hiroga Ring ~ Makes enemies drop more coins.

---

Third Section: Event

Event items are items that cause a certain thing to happen. They are typically collected upon defeating a boss, with the exception of a few.

Slot ~ Gives the player a third equip slot.
Key ~ Unlocks the Golden Doors found in Levels 2,4, and 5.
Yukkuri L ~ When combined with Yukkuri R, Allows passage through the Yukkuri Block. Drops from Rumia.
Yukkuri R ~ When combined with Yukkuri L, allows passage through the Yukkuri Block. Drops from Cirno.
Cozeny 1,2,3,4 ~ Allows passage through the donation box at the top of Level 10. Drops from the Level 3,5,7, and 9 boss respectively.
//DO NOT DONATE THE COZENY AT DIFFERENT TIMES, THIS WILL GLITCH OUT THE GAME AND NOT ALLOW YOU TO PASS THROUGH THE DONATION BOX. COLLECT ALL 4 AND THEN DONATE.//

---

Unlisted Items:

The only items that aren't shown are Health-Ups and Strength-Ups. Health-Ups increase your overall health a small bit, and Strength-Ups increase your stars of power by 1. These items can be found in chests and purchased at the Kirisame Magic Shop.

---

Shops:

There are areas throughout the game that allow you to purchase items. These areas will be collectively referred to as the Kirisame Magic Shop. They are located in Levels 1,2,3,5,7, and 9. The shop sells 7 different items but only has 3 spaces for them, exiting and re-entering the shop will switch the items inside.

Space 1 ~ Sells Cake S for 100 coins, and Cake L for 1000 coins.
Space 2 ~ Sells Red Scrap for 500 coins, and Blue Scrap 800 coins.
Space 3 ~ Sells Kawarimi for 2000 coins, Health-Up, and Strength-Up. The price on the latter two items increases to 1000/2000/5000/10000 for each purchase.

Closing Statement:

That's about it for Boho Koumakyou, as it's a relatively short game. The next two games, being Boho Youyoumu and Boho Koumakyou 2, are far superior than this one, but it's still very much worth the time you'll spend playing it. I hope the map and guide I've put together will help you get the most out of the gaming experience. If you like this game, you should definitely play the next two if you haven't already. Be sure to get the Boho Youyoumu map by Ace of Hearts and the Boho Koumakyou 2 map by Heartnet, as well. If I've missed anything or mixed something up, feel free to let me know.

Enjoy!
