I guess in the meanwhile (sorry for the double post), I'll get today's build up now. I've inserted everything I've been able to find so far, which to be honest wasn't as much as I thought I was able to find. I've pretty much exhausted Global.srb in terms of things I can translate and insert into the game. The rest of the messages that haven't been translated I am almost positive are in one of two places: Either they are in message_kou.csv, which I have not made any changes to as of the moment because I prefer someone with better translation skills than I have to handle those, or they are in one of the 1000+ script files that I have yet to scratch the surface of. I was lucky to find what I was from the one file, specifically 03004.srb, but that again is a lucky find. There are still so many files that might yet have a message I've been unable to find, but until I actually sit down and look through those one at a time, I won't find anything else.
So here's where things stand in the meanwhile. Most of the images have been translated, and at this point the .zip containing images I didn't think I had the skills to do is slightly out of date, because I was able to edit at least a few of those, not to mention the party image I put in there does not need to be translated because I found a translated version of it in DennouNeko's work, so that solves that. Really, it's the options menu, the bestiary, and the character headers that remain in terms of images, at least from my understanding. In the version of the patch I'm about to link, I did the title screen stuff, so that's something new, at least, not to mention the menu options in regular gameplay I included in last night's patch.
In terms of messages, like I said, what remains are the stuff in message_kou.csv and whatever is hidden amongst the 1000+ .srb files. Any other remaining text would be either the bestiary descriptions of monsters, or flavor text for equipment. After that is purely story. There are two story-related things in the Global.srb, specifically the ending and the final boss text (Angra going "ahahahah it's been 342 years since I had a battle like this" and whatnot), but other than that, everything else is in the SCN files, which I've handed off to Synnae, who's told me in PM that he (she? Sorry, I could never remember if you were male or female. X_X) knows some friends who might be able to work on those. If anyone else wants to take a crack at those, be my guest, I'll send you the stuff in PM, just let me know.
Other than that, yeah. The patch is coming along very nicely, in my opinion, but unfortunately this is about the limit of what I can do alone. I need help from this point on, no doubt about it. I simply do not have the Japanese knowledge to translate the story files, or the flavor text. If I did, I wouldn't be asking for help with that. Neither do I have the skill in Photoshop to translate the remaining images. I'm no good at cleaning images or anything. I can obviously make any touchups to translations that need touching up, I'm always able to do that, but otherwise my role from here on out is just organization and putting the patch together when changes are made.
I'll be taking a break for the next couple days probably, I've got college stuff I have to worry about and everything, signing up for my second year classes, getting a major transfer, doing homework, fun stuff like that, not to mention I want to continue the run of the game I've been doing to make sure everything's working out with all these translations and file changes. I'll eventually get around to searching through the srb files to look for more stuff to edit, although none of these messages are, in my opinion, critical to understanding the game. Most of what's needed is already there.
With that said, version 0.05 away!EDIT: I will announce something else that I do want to work on while there's not much else for me to do with the DoD patch until people can come on board. I've been thinking of what else to work on, and I know that someone wanted me to do something with Phantasmal Summoners, and that is a fair point, I should work on that at some point. There's something else I want to work on first, though, something that will be easier to do in my opinion since most of the translation work has been done for the gameplay aspects of it, and it should be easy to port most of that over. So here's a minor teaser of the next thing I'm going to be working on:
