Three Fairies Quest
« on: August 26, 2014, 10:05:00 AM »
Behind the Hakurei Shrine, in a tree, live the Three Fairies of Light. Unconcerned by education and work (for the most part), they spend their days by playing around, adventuring, terrorizing the human society with mischief, committing petty crime and by getting hammered every so often.

This year, the summer heat feels quite stubborn and fierce. You could cook an egg on the roof tiles of the Hakurei Shrine, yet Sunny, Luna and Star are not discouraged. To those who seek for shade at every possible moment to shield themselves from the scorching sun, the Three Fairies can only laugh at. Even though the sun is so far away in the skies, people treat it as if it was crashing down upon them. Truly, the sun is a testament to nature's overwhelming might: just its radiance is enough to terrify humans and send them scrambling for shade. The Three Fairies, as aspects of nature, can't help but feel inspired by that glorious incandescence which people so revere. If only they could be as great...

And so, the summer heat fills the hearts of Sunny, Luna and Star with great ambition.

Looks like this isn't going to get any additional votes, so I coin flipped and got Sunny.

>Sunny "D" Milk SELECTED.

>...

>You're Admiral Sunnytaro Yamadamilk, and you appear to be inside the great cabin of your ironclad flagship, Koutetsu. However, something about this whole premise doesn't sound quite right to you at all!

>There's a god-awful cacophony coming inside the ship from one of the cabin's open windows.

>Glance through the window.

>You look through one of the open windows and spot two figures hovering a couple feet above the sea close by your ship. Oh, it's the Prismrivers. Well, two of them, since you don't see Lunasa anywhere. You also don't see any instruments they could be making noise with...

>"Belay that racket before I keel-haul you off the mainmast!"

>"An wot? The hell ye chattin' 'bout, wastegash!?", Merlin yells back at you.

>"We ain't makin' fings lad, onnist! I swear down we'ez done proper nuffing innit!", Lyrica shouts as well.

>"Like we care woddya think!", you hear a third person shout.

>Lunasa glides in view from somewhere to hover near her two sisters. Ah, there she is, she must've been the source of that third yell. She's carrying something big in her arms... wait, that's your bicycle! SON OF A--

>"We iz got yer bike, ye knob'ead! Wot ya gunna do 'bout that!?", Lunasa shouts.

>Inventory. In particular, do we have our spellcards?

>Your inventory presently:

>Sunny Milk's dress
  >Your very own unique frilly dress, every faerie's just gotta have a nice dress!
>Hair accessories
  >A combination of a white maid headband and red ribbons. Not that questionable when compared to some of the more extravagant headgear in Gensokyo, really.
>Spellcards?
  >For some reason, you're not actually sure which ones are currently at your disposal. That'll require a quick check.

>And where are those other two layabouts at?

>Oh, you'd really love to know where they're loafing around right now! There's much more better things for an admiral to do than dealing with a bunch of thieving poltergeists!

>Before you get to negotiate with the Prismrivers over your bike any further, a massive impact to the hull instantly lists Koutetsu on to its other side, sending you tumbling across the great cabin along with all the loose furniture and decorations!

>"Gah!"
>Go a tumblin', but try to stop ourselves and take stock of what happened.

>You cry out a natural thing to cry out while in uncontrollable motion against one's will.
>You had little time to react to this sudden turn of events, but you reflexively manage to airbrake with your wings to slow yourself down a little. Your back slams against a wall, and you almost end up faceplanting the floor due to the ship subsequently righting back to amidships from her severe list, but luckily you're able to get your arms in the way between the floor and your face just in time. That slamming into the wall thing could've hurt a lot more, but still, ow.
>You hear frantic footsteps on creaking wooden floor approaching you from outside the room, and before long, a fairy appears in the great cabin's doorway. An exceptionally tall fairy, as she just hit her forehead on the doorframe while trying to enter inside the cabin. You swear you've never seen a fairy accidentally smack their head against a human-sized doorway before while walking! She winces and rubs her forehead for a moment, before finally speaking out:

>"A-admiral, th-there... huff... there's no time for pushups!", the taaall fairy says. She sounds kinda winded there. "Haah... the sh-ship, p-port... she.. she's been struck by a g-g-giant tennis racket!"

>"Who's tennis racket, lie-you-tenant? And how the crap did you get so huge?!"

>The tall fairy pauses to catch her breath, rendering her speech much more coherent.
>"No idea! It went all the way through the ship! Good thing it didn't hit below waterline... and I've always been this tall, admiral!", she says as you strain your neck to look her in the eyes. You're gonna get a stiff neck at this rate!

>"PREPARE TO *unintelligible* PARTYYY!", you hear someone scream from the deck.
>"P-party?!", the tall lieyoutenant utters in disbelief. "Admiral, I don't think this is a good time to party! You think we should do something about that?"

>"Yes!"
>Head up on deck.

>With the tall fairy and her b-ball tagging along, you exit the ravaged great cabin and head out to the deck.
>Out on the deck, everything seems to be in place as far as the ship's superstructure is concerned: the two masts are still there, and the smokestack is also intact. And just as the tall fairy reported, there indeed is a huge tennis racket lodged inside the ship, its racket head sticking out of the right side of the hull, the port side. Or was that starboard? No, it's got to be port.
>Thankfully, that side appears to be the entry point of the tennis racket rather than the exit. You're certain the hull would've been utterly destroyed had the racket entered headfirst instead of handlefirst. There'd be a deep cut amidships, not just a hole. Because the tennis racket is lodged so deep in the hull, there's no list towards starboard neither port.
>Your fairy crew is gathered on the deck near the tennis racket. They don't appear to be having a party right now, though... wait, the heck is this?! There's dozens of shin-height creatures with the likeness of a certain drunk oni you've witnessed many times loitering at the shrine! The mini-Suikas run around recklessly amidst the fairy crowd, biting the ankles of your crew, tearing boards off the deck and using them as clubs against the bare calves of your crew, flying around and pulling the hair of your crew, and sneaking up the skirts of your crew to their great inconvenience and distress! Goddamnit, Suika!

>"Wait, this isn't a party! It's a boarding party! Actually, hold on... does that count as a party as well?", the tall fairy ponders.

>"Rappel those boarders quicksmart, you laggards!"

>"A-a-admiral Yamadamilk!", a fairy stammers, trying to desperately shake off a mini-Suika wrapped around her right arm.
>"Our noble lord is watching us!", another fairy shouts from amidst the chaos.
>"C'mon everybody, we can't lose when she's here! For her honor and all that stuff, let's thump these little freaks outta this boat!"

>Your mere presence inspires your crew to fight back harder against the invading mini-Suikas! Looks like they were making them seem more troublesome to deal with than they actually are, now that they're helping each other to wrestle off any grappling mini-Suikas and tossing them into the sea just fine, despite an average fairy's lack of marital prowess and strength.
>Before long, your crew has successfully repelled all the mini-Suikas off the deck of Koutetsu. While your crew cheer at their triumph over the enemy, you observe as the mini-Suikas turn into fine white mist and float off to the horizon, wherein looms a gigantic horned figure. There's that Suika! Standing in the sea all smug, thinking she's something big around these parts! If only the ship had broadside guns, you'd teach her a lesson right now before she could even get to open that mouth of hers.

>"Sorry 'bout that, it slipped off me hand, ehehe~", Suika's mildly drunk voice echoes from the distance.

>Starboard is whichever side Commodore Sapphire is on. If she isn't there, it's Port.

>Yes! That's got to be how the mnemonic went! However, you haven't spotted Star on the left side neither right side yet, even though you have a good view from near aft.

>Shake fist at the speaker.

>You shake your fist at the oni and curse her for damaging your flagship!
>"Guess they went outta control cuz you tossed them outta the ship, eh..", Suika lets out a giant sigh, like the giant she is.
>"Was only way I cud get it back without sinkin' your boat, ya know. Oh well, gonna get it back later, then. See ya~", she bids you farewell before slowly dispersing into mist, with your whole crew booing throughout her transformation.

>"Admiral, I've a question.", the tall fairy says.

>"!!!", the tall fairy covers her face with her hands, attempting to hide her blushing and her colossal shame. "Pleasefofoforgivemeeeee!"

>You lie down from your sitting position, stunned by the agony of basketball-to-face. Dull, throbbing pain radiates everywhere on your face. Why does it have to hurt so much...
>All of a sudden, the air becomes frigid, and you can no longer hear your crew. You hear what sounds like somebody slowly stepping in some greaves towards you. Jeez, is this yet an another jerk who wants to wreck your ship...
