Smelly Japanese trolls, thank you for creating a phenomenon of negativity so big I can't even avoid it! That's some well wasted time reading and writing about it.
Also, 'with some confusing the “Tohou” in the headline with the popular Korean boyband, Tohou Shinki.'
Guess which is more famous in Japan at this moment, a geeky fandom where the fans build everything they enjoy themselves, or a chart-topping Korean boyband?
Except the ForestFairy / Aniki is a huge NicoNico meme thing and not really on 2ch afaik. Unless there are images going around.
The Fairy and Aniki circles are generally harmless, while Inmu fans are internet roaches who crawl all over any place they decided should be incorporated into their mythos. Since the Cookie incident, this has included Touhou fan videos on NicoNico, too. If you become part of their pantheon, they would cyberstalk the shit out of you and your family.
Here is more background info + speculation:
It must be noted that names like KNN and TIS are not the actual screen names of these people, but nicknames invented by Inmu fans, modeled after the screen name of their No.1 victim in the Cookie☆ incident, UDK. (UDK committing suicide should be a baseless, if nasty rumor.) Neither are the videos themselves called Cookie☆ or Cookie☆☆. There's also Cookie☆☆☆, which seems to refer to videos further derived from them.
Cookie☆, or "Old Testament" according to Inmu fans, was a Valentine-themed video, "Marisa and Alice’s cookie kiss". You can read about it at the earlier KnowYourMeme link.
Cookie☆☆, or "New Testament". refers to a series of three 2012 Touhou fan videos produced by Taisu (TIS), that are completely unrelated to 2010's Cookie☆: "Christmas project", "New year project", and "Christmas 2013 project". "New year project" was the one video that created the new Inmu sensation. However, Taisu's works had already been parodied by the Inmu fandom before it, and apparently she did use them to promote her works, which would make it reasonable to suspect she expected the Inmu fandom to latch onto her work again. But her collaborators knew nothing about that.
Kanna (KNN) voiced Reimu in "New year project". By the time the death threats happened, she had already been the No.1 victim in the Cookie☆☆ incident. Since the Inmu fans are all cheery bros who do everything for the lulz, death threats actually don't seem like their modus operandi.
It is entirely possible that the perpetrator in this case is an Inmu hater, perhaps even a Touhou fan, who put the blame on Kanna.
Of course like Tengukami said, in the end he's just another jobless misogynist. But his case is far from the only thing ugly here.
