This is a really great metaphor for Internet Explorer users. It doesn't matter how many viruses you get, so long as you have a BITCHIN' firewall protection service.

Baity: For a moment, I thought you broke 1.1billion. Upon looking at my score.dat, I can assume that you destroyed the score that is my failed (first!) 1cc attempt on my first day of playing. Congratulations.

Have to give them credit for trying to appeal to different audiences, though, instead of solely trying to stick with the business-style side of things.

I first heard about this at about 1230pm (local time) and in the last 7 hours (it's now about 740pm here) the Facebook page has gone from sub-800 likes to over 5500. It's interesting that they're sending this to a western audience, because wasn't Naname entirely eastern? I mean I like the idea, enough to where I don't want it to meet an unfortunate, sudden, unannounced end, but it's not enough to make me stop using my other two browsers (I use I.E., Chrome, and Opera)

Yeah the story of all the crazy proprietary plugins they had to make to get around the encryption export laws is fascinating, and also really really scary.

That seems to be the general opinion on their Facebook page as well. And everyone I've brought this up to. So I think their character designer deserves some props for making non-I.E. users interested, given the whole "lol IE is shit lol" opinion I've seen thrown around.

Not talking about the character, I do like the animation in their YouTube teaser, although I wish they had put more thought into the enemies' appearances (like defined them instead of just being "malicious thing"). Here's hoping for a least some sort of series/ova, though.

IE : I want to rebuild my reputation so badly... I need to beat Chrome and Firefox somehow...

QB : If that is what you truly wish for, all you have to do is make a contract with me!

But in all seriousness, I did enjoy the animation for this. And now, I really want to see more browsers joining in on this. It would be awesome, hilarious, and you'd watch it just to see what happens~  :derp:

I've always been a big fan of the OS-tans, it was like my first fandom. So I was kind of saddened when they kind of died off after Vista, but MS has been pushing them in their Japanese/Taiwanese marketing campaigns and each one has been amazingly adorable.

I never really saw a single "official" vista OS-tan (official used loosely here), although I do remember Microsoft embracing it for Nanami (Win7) in the Japanese market and recently Yuu and Ai with Win8

If this does become a thing, I want Opera. I could care less about Chrome/Firefox (I don't use Chrome that often and I've never used Firefox), but Opera is my preferred browser on my computer.

The OS-tans basically fell apart around Vista time. There was a vague "Longhorn-tan" and then a couple of Vista attempts but that was it. OS-tans died until Nanami was brought up for W7 and then Hikari for Silverlight.

Silverlight had one? Didn't know that

I remember Longhorn, specifically that if I searched "Longhorn-tan" on Google I got a lot of pictures of "Longhorn Steak House"

It's interesting that MS is sending this to the west to appeal  to the computer nerds who know better already then to not trust IE.
The actual website is interesting and an obvious appeal to western anime nerds as well (who are also probably computer savvy). It's got anime news and such.

Seems like an attempt to win back people who hold a grudge against it, but I won't be swayed.

What I like is this picture.

It's sure easy to be popular when you come preinstalled. :V

Not to mention, it's false information.

...Wow, Firefox sure got unpopular. A year ago it was dominating whole Europe. I just don't get what's good in Chrome, it just seems unintuitive (I guess it's like the Xbox controller for me, everyone says it's good but for me it's just unnatural).

But I give them that, the animation -IS- good.

Does Firefox have an addon that makes your browser into an anime
