I have also been thinking about a few timeouts and boss pacifists but honestly, those things are so arbitrary that they are not really worth mentioning for me. The only thing that matters to me is full run performances.

Don't worry about it, everyone starts somewhere. I needed multiple continues to beat PCB (my first game) on Normal when I was starting out, and 1CCing Easy was a challenge. It took me about a year to get to the point where I felt like a Lunatic 1CC was within my reach.

I can say with confidence that every single person here used to be at your skill level or worse. The only thing that separates us is time spent practicing. Keep at it. You'll be amazed by what you can achieve before long.

When I started with Touhou, it took me 3 months to get 1cc's with every shot type on Easy. Keep practicing, and you will get better.

Concerning PoFV, I was in the same position about a month ago. If you can get to the last stage it's just a matter of time, trust me.
There is nothing better for improving your overall dodging skills than PoFV (or PoDD  :derp:)
As for the others: Use LOTS of stage practice, the biggest challenge is doing good in a live run though :V

I can say with confidence that every single person here used to be at your skill level or worse. The only thing that separates us is time spent practicing. Keep at it. You'll be amazed by what you can achieve before long.

I'd like to quote this for emphasis.

I think I couldn't even clear a Touhou game on Normal with continues when I first started. I don't recall IN Easy taking me too long to 1cc, but the others I tried took anywhere from a few days to several weeks. It took me four months to get a Normal 1cc, and about a year after that for a Lunatic 1cc.

So to all the players going for Normal mode or clearing Extras (or anything below the crazy accomplishments that the lunatics around here are achieving, which seem to dominate the accomplishment threads), just keep practicing, see what you can learn from others' replays, and don't be afraid to ask for help on whatever you have trouble with.


Anyway, I didn't post any goals of my own here earlier, might as well post a few now:

- 80m LLS Extra
- 100m LLS Normal
- 110m ("B" score) LLS anything
- 125m MS Normal
- 150m MS Hard
- 190m MS Extra
- SA Normal 1-death run (effectively no-death run since the death is a suicide for power at the start)
- 1b SA Extra
- 1.5b UFO anything
- 4b IN Lunatic
- 2b in at least two games that aren't IN (1st is probably SA Lunatic, 2nd is very far away right now but it is a goal)
- reach 1b MoF Lunatic with all characters
- MoF Lunatic no-death run with a non-MarisaB character
- Hold on to some Royalflare DDC records (or, failing that, 2nd/3rd place scores) for as long as I reasonably can, both now and when the full game is released
- Learn the EoSD and GFW scoring systems, since although I know how they work I'm not that good at them myself
- "Perfect" at least one Touhou game on Normal
- 1cc PoDD Lunatic
- 1cc MS Lunatic with all characters
- Improve my Lunatic survival in general, since it's not as good as I'd like
- Succeed in at least one Lunatic no-bombs 1cc and at least one Lunatic 91fps 1cc

Wait, that's not a few. I think I got carried away. Here's one more though:
- Balance my Touhou playing so it isn't using up so much of my time. I thought I had it balanced earlier this year, but then the DDC demo came out...

Since I can't play GFW right now, I've been working on EoSD Easy, goal for now is 140 millions.

It's quite addictive and difficult for me. By the way, MATSU's run is... something else.

It took me 8 months to clear UFO Lunatic and others had it faster so... yeah. Yet I'm pretty sure you're progressing faster than I am right now.

Basically it's up to how much you want to improve. You can play casually for 4 years and be stuck on Normal.

But yeah, you won't just wake up in a beautiful day and do a Lunatic 1cc without effort. We do have prodigies like Cactu, Nindel, Denpa, etc, who became monsters within a short period of time, but that's not very common.

Well, now that I've completed my PCB and IN goals, and gotten 4 Hard 1ccs (IN, PCB, PoFV and MoF) under my belt, I've got new goals. Will probably play Ten Desires next to attempt my 5th Hard 1cc. Done, easy game was easy. 6th will probably be either EoSD or a PC-98 game. Maybe I'll even take Karisa's advice and try to 1cc PCB Lunatic at some point. Done without much effort.

Photo games progress:
StB: 71/85 scenes cleared. Struggling quite a lot with levels 10 and EX. Maybe I'll come back to this game later.
DS: Not played yet.

Edit (March 20th, 2014): Also 1cced all Windows Normals and Extras, and SA, DDC and all GFW routes on Hard, and 2 GFW routes on Lunatic since then, but still just haven't gotten around to working on my goals in EoSD, the pc-98 games or the photo games yet.

Currently, I'm trying to 1cc TH13 Ten Desires on Normal, and the only reason why I havent done it yet, is, because, FREAKING SPAWNS! (I Keep dying becayse enemies/bullets spawn directly in my face when I'm going aggresive, AM I RIGHT STAGE 1/YOSHIKA?)
Afterwards, I will try to 1cc TH7 Perfect Cherry Blossom, (also on Normal) but I always lose my last life at Yuyuko's last spell, which needless to say, ticks me off a little bit. (You wouldn't believe how close I got to doing it once)
After that, I will take a HUGE break from the series. Because it burned me out already.
