Ok, I've upgraded the forums to SMF 2.0.1, after finally clearing our modifications for use with SMF 2.0 and satisfied with the theme. I've also done some massive overhaul of the server software (namely upgrade PostgreSQL to 9.1). Along with this I have permanently upgraded Triela's ram to 768mb from 512mb. As the temporary upgrade has done wonderfully in quashing the forum hiccups and 403s, I made it permanent (and doubled our HD space too lol).
Attached images will now pop up a new window when you click on the thumbnail if the image is larger than 640x480. And eventually I'll get Mikopics up I swear T-T
Oh yeah, and this little thing called search, yeah it's back. I've installed Sphinx, a fulltext search engine. I've been testing various search engines for a while now and have had a working Sphinx implementation on my test box for about a couple of months so I figured it's time to bring it live. Search is enabled for everyone and should be nearly instantaneous. Searching "testing" got me 19 pages of results in about 2 seconds, a monumental increase in speed. I will be watching loads closely to see how things progress.
Next upgrade in the works is a mobile version of the forums for you guys lucky (or unlucky) enough to browse from phone/tablet browsers. If you want to see how they look now you can manually specify the theme with the following links.
http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/?theme=15 <- iOS (iPhone/iPod Touch) /Android devices
http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/?theme=16 <- featurephones and miscellaneous devices
http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/?theme=17 <- Nokia/webOS devices
To revert back to the main theme goto
http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?theme=14 or clear your browser's cache and cookies.
15 will be for iPhone/Android phones, 17 will be used for webOS/Nokia phones (or devices using Opera/Firefox Mobile), and 16 will be used for phones with limited browsers (mostly feature phones). The looks (mostly colors/images) are not set in stone but the overall layout and featureset won't change much. This will be based on autodetection, although I will embed the links into the top of the forum nav bar to let you freely change between them. Bug reports will be limited to supporting the default browsers on your device, I do not have the time nor the resources to try every single custom browser on your Android phone (I'm looking at you Momiji using FF Mobile xP). Support will obviously be best for the devices I own, Android/iPhone phones and the HP Touchpad tablet (webOS). If you have an uncommon device, as long as you can provide me screenshots or detailed explanations of broken behavior I will try to do a best faith attempt at correcting them. If not the original WAP interface will remain, and will be the failsafe mode for all mobile devices.
