So, um, finally got around to watching the first episode, and... Wow. This looks like it could be pretty darn cool. I mean, even if you don't take into account how cool the novel was, it's still really, really good so far.

...Oh, and I'd forgotten how cute Waver was supposed to be. This is something that I heartily approve of~

Anyway, I appreciated the long drawn-out nature of most of the episode; I mean, there really is a lot of stuff to go over before diving into this, in my opinion. It took me that long just to get the characters straight in my head...

It did feel like a huge build-up to a really awesome end of the episode, though. But keep in mind that the slow part was pretty much entirely the prologue in the first novel - I'd rather they do it this way than have them fuck it up like the UBW movie.

Yeah, I sorta agree. UBW was bad in terms of pacing/arrangement. For example during the final fight between archer and shirou with lancer saving rin... they should have showed kirei commanding lancer to kill himself, have kirei step toward rin with the knife, and then blood splatter + sound effect, flash back to archer and shiou, and then flash back to who got stabbed,

2nd episode. as expected it follows the original novel closely (about more? than half of Act 2), which essentially translates to nothing much happens. false start indeed.

Well, so far, so good. It's nice to see that the first episode wasn't a fluke. I really like how it's taking its time with the story and not trying to rush everything. The interactions between Waver and Iskander are hilarious (I always loved those two in the novel, so it's great to see that they've been given justice in the anime), and Caster's entry was pretty much exactly as I always pictured it
