>You're pretty sure the swimsuit is covered from all angles. At least, you hope so.

>There are a few jackets, presumably for young boys, featuring a crocodile walking around with a human-skin purse.
>There's a hoodie with a man in a wetsuit on it, with a shark-tooth necklace.
>You giggle slightly at the sight of a jacket portaying a jellyfish holding up a sword and shield, with the caption "PORTUGESE MAN O' WAR".
>Fujiwara must have taken the credit crunch pretty harshly. There's a jacket here showing a businessman with a light coming out of his forehead, luring in some innocent holding a bag of money.
>Is that...memorabilia from the old Lamprey Stand? You didn't even know they had jackets. That place used to be all the rage until the health committee came down on the owner for lying about nutritional values.
>Finally, there's a pirahna munching at a massive wad of meat, with the caption "ONE STEP AT A TIME".

>You're aware that the stand was run by a woman named Mystia Lorelei. A good woman, for the most part, though a bit too willing to twist the truth for financial gain. Her food was great, but she bragged a little too much about how it could bring back sight to the partially blind. (For the record, it couldn't.)
>Good point. By that logic, though, it's possible that other members of the swim team will have been approached to be made Champions. They'll be looking for people who are at home in the water, after all, and unlike Harami the other Royals have time to choose whoever they want...

>Who else is on the swim team, and who are the best?
>Do we have any close friends on the swim team, as in people that wouldn't "attack" us even in this war?
>You are, of course, the strongest competitor on the team. The girls' team consists of maybe two dozen students, and you know most of them by name and face.
>You're only acquaintances with most of the team, but you're relatively friendly with a few of the girls. There's the Komeiji sisters, who couldn't be further apart - Satori got into the hobby to get her mind off of her schoolwork, and as one of the highest scoring students in the school it was probably for good reasons. Koishi decided to join immediately after watching The Little Mermaid, which says more than enough about her personality.
Then there's Shou and Nazrin, or as they're better known around school The Tiger and The Mouse. Nazrin was bullied pretty relentlessly at the start of high school, and after Shou stepped in to help her the pair have been inseparable. It's not clear whether Nazrin talked Shou into joining the team or the other way around. Either way, Nazrin's by far the better swimmer of the two.
>"That's dangerous thinking," Harami says. "We can't be sure if the other Nations will be as friendly to their Champions as Odonto has been to you. We accept that we are intruding on your time, on your business - other Nations see your race as tools to be exploited as necessary. You may not be able to trust even your closest friends."

>One more thing, Are surfers and scuba divers fairly common on Gensoushima?

The guy in the wetsuit has me suspicious....Sharktooth Necklace? Wetsuit? Just put 2 and 2 together.
>Diving's a popular pastime from the middle-classes and beyond. You yourself had always been planning to give it a try, but the student finance issue left it more or less consistently out of reach. Kawashiro's Dive Shop and Swimsuit Emporium serves as a one-stop shop for everyone from the first-time freediver to the aged diving veterans.

>You somehow doubt the Selachi Royal would willingly pose for a design like this.

>Harami looks at it without interest, blinking. "Still not exactly noble, is it? If you think it'll work as a disguise, I'll take it, but don't expect me to enjoy it."

>Cars are something you actually don't see much of on Gensoushima. The island is too small for a car to really be worth the effort, and they're only owned by the extremely rich.
Harami is unimpressed by the monster truck jackets. "How much exhaust much that thing produce?"

>"Well, anything that looks regal in the least will raise suspicion, so you don't have many options."
>Harami sighs. "Fine. I'll take it."

> Also pick out some pants or a skirt to go with the jacket, and a shirt as well.
> Does Harami seem to take interest in anything in this place?
>You take the jacket to the counter, and buy some shirts and pants to go along with them. You more or less pick shirts at random. There aren't exactly many skirts available in this store, and it's probably better to get this all done in one sitting.
>The best reaction she offers to any piece of clothing in here is a neutral glare.

>"Thanks for yer service. Come again whenever you feel like a new set of threads."
The shopkeeper bifs you farewell, and you step out into the mid-morning sun.
You hear a pair of grumbling stomachs - Harami's, and your own. You could probably get something to eat about now - there are a few restaurants nearby, and Harami should be able to afford a good meal or two no problem. But you're lugging around this bag of clothes with you - should you head back to the dorm and let Harami change first?

>For local restaurants, you've got Miyako's Mouthwatering Menagerie, which prides itself on serving even the most obscure and dangerous fish in the region, and the White Rock, which is meant to be a much more family-friendly place - but has apparently become the headquarters of a small gang of thugs.

>There's a MikoBurger nearby if you want something cheap and simple. For more refined tastes there's the Scarlet Soiree, an upper-class restaurant you'd dream of being able to afford.

Evidently, it takes a lot to separate a dolphin from her fishies.
>You'd get caviar, but that's about it.

>That's admittedly an excellent point. You two aren't exactly in your finest dinner wear. You could buy yourself a pair of dresses from Kageyama's...if they're ornate enough, you'll be practically unrecognisable. [No-one you know would ever expect to see you wearing more clothes rather than less of them.]
