>By air, going northwest over part of the forest and the plains.

> Whatever that route is, fly it.

>You take to the air!
>Heading over the forest, you find yourself periodically having to dodge around the occasional stray danmaku. This is irritating, but not particularly hard. What does become irritating is when you notice a particular faerie careening out of the forest in your direction, in a flurry of oval shots!

>Sort of; it was a kind of familiar, really, that you used your spellcards to disguise.
>You conjure up a familiar to deal with the faerie. As you are doing so, she slams right into you, connecting her head with your stomach! Unfortunately, she is large enough to knock some of the wind right out of you.
>"Get back here!" shouts another faerie from behind, as more danmaku comes up.

>You grit your shove the faerie aside, thankfully she is light enough that it's not a problem, if if she did hit you in the gut like a cannonball.
>The faerie flies off with a cry, her pursuer hot on her heels. You don't get the feeling that the fleeing faerie is gong to last long since her escape was interrupted.

>You continue onward after the faeries have passed, and soon manage to leave the forest behind.
>Passing over the plains past the forest, things become much more peaceful. The grass is green and lush, and the cool breeze does much to dispel the day's heat. You pass over a small cabin along the road toward Youkai Mountain, and soon see the human village ahead. You also notice a fairly large crowd in the streets.

> Fly down toward the crowd and listen in to what's going on.

>You will have to be well practiced indeed to conceal a faerie approaching half your size.
>You ponder about what happened topside, and draw closer to the crowd. they are gathered in the main street, near the schoolhouse and the tavern. You can quickly tell that the crowd is not a happy one. Byakuren stands at the head of it, addressing everyone. You can pick out a couple other people from the temple nearby, hanging near the edges of the crowd and likely waiting for troublemakers. It is easy to see that Byakuren is a little flustered at the moment, you suspect she's been trying to calm the crowd for awhile, listening to her statements of "Let's all take a little time to consider" and "Rash action will only make things worse". She's probably not used to large or hostile crowds.

We do need to approach one of them and ask what's going on, but we should get them away from the crowd before doing it. Nue doesn't need to be hanged today.

And pulling them away would look more like they're running instead of trying to talk it out.  Chances are good that witnesses saw a rabbit if the situations are the same.

so are we burning down the bamboo forest or what

>How much do we know about the habits of humans, especially in the human village? Not having a riot here would be nice, but the 'how' would be trickier than just providing a way to get booze like with the oni.
>Would normal humans be nervous about having someone like us show up and ask what's going on? If so, are there any youkai near the edges of the crowd to ask further?

>Would normal humans be nervous about having someone like us show up and ask what's going on? If so, are there any youkai near the edges of the crowd to ask further?

>The humans have been pretty laid back, from what you've seen. But you've also not been here during an incident. But frankly, you can sympathize with them to be a bit; they've had their homes invaded. It's a pretty jarring thing; you've experienced it twice today!
>You aren't sure. But you do note a couple other youkai around, now that you pay closer attention to the crowd.

>You land and listen to the group. It's kind of hard to pick out anything, most of it are angry murmurs. By and large people seem to be listening to Byakuren.
>You make your way toward Ichirin, who is on the southern side of the crowd, which is how you approached. She glances over at you, and gestures for you to join her.

Chances are good that witnesses saw a rabbit if the situations are the same.

I'm starting to suspect that that particular rabbit had nothing to do with the money-stealing-gem-replacing directly, and was only there to steal our spellcards. Why, however, is another matter that eludes me for the moment.
