> Do so with haste!

>You hurry in, and the kasha, Orin, shuts the door behind you. Looking around, you are in a long dusty hall will two lines of pillars forming a kinda of corridor toward the far doorway, To the east and west are large, open doors leading into other rooms. A few cats are trotting through, or coiled up in the less dusty areas. You can also see a small snake slithering through one eastern door. Obvious Exits are North, South, East, and West.

>"What's up? I don't think the fight's close to here or anything."

>"That doesn't mean it won't happen," says Orin, as she throws a bolt over the door. It won't stop an oni, but it might slow one down for a few moments. "Are you looking for a place to hide, Satori won't turn anyone away as long as they behave."

> Do we know anything about the Eientei rabbits besides Reisen?

>You know a bit about them; they seem to be the rank and file of Eientei's defenses, and do most of the day to day work there. They are kind of shy, except when they're not. Overall, you got the feeling they weren't entirely reliable, but were well meaning.
>Orin nods as you walk into a large room filled with old-looking chairs; arranged tastefully. Cats and birds occupy most of them. Portraits cover the walls, showing the various members of the Palace family. You quickly pick out Satori, though you've never see her before, sitting in a large red chair that positively dwarfs her. Wearing a blue dress, the red tendrils of her third eye are easy to pick out, it rests over her heart, looking at you. A large book rests in her lap, and a ferret is draped across her neck like a small fluffy boa.
>Satori looks up at you, frowning. "My," she says after a moment, "that is an interesting story. Orin, would you kindly check the lower drawer in my room?"
>"Sure thing," says Orin, as she leaves the room.
>"Have a seat," says Satori. "Don't be nervous. I assure you, I've seen much darker thoughts than you seem to harbor."

>You have a seat on one of the overstuffed chairs. It's nice to take a load off.
>"Of course," says Satori, as she reaches up to pet the ferret.
>"I have not heard of any youkai rabbits coming here," she says. "It's possible that she might have snuck in, but it seems unlikely that at least one of my pets wouldn't have seen her."

>"It was a peaceful evening," says Satori. "Okuu left to stay with Parsee last night, before venturing on to the surface later. Orin was here, and we spent a quiet evening playing dice. I spent a fair amount of time with my pets, of course, and a bit with my knitting. Nothing was notable, I am afraid. Nor was this morning; I made breakfast for everyone, spent some time replacing a spellcard that got accidentally chewed upon, and reading."

Maus: If certain subtler happenings in Iku Quest (and the postgame questions) are any indication, I think I know why.

But I don't want to ruin the surprise. :>
