Server is down due to servercraft's bullshit. The servers are down or something, I sent a ticket about it. Server remains down.

Server is up, but is suffering from massive lag for some reason.

Edit: It'll be up and down often as I try to fix it.

Edit #2: The lag is so fucking bad, it takes 10 minutes just to start the server. And a minute for a full save. I'll work through this for you guys to install BigBrother and some moderators.

Edit #3: BigBrother is up. Now for moderators. THE LAG IS SO BAD BOTH ME AND SHADY DISCONNECTED... WHEN NOTHING WAS HAPPENING TO STRESS THE SERVER!

Edit: #4: Server will remain down this time til the lag is fixed... either by me or servercraft.

Edit #5: Thanks to Shady constantly joining and leaving while the server was shutting down, I had to forcestop the server, which may cause more void holes.

As for the void holes, :ohdear: hope our stuff doesn't get nuked by map. I don't want to rejoin and see a few bases, sprites, towers, caves, UFOs, and/or community house obliterated.
Also, should a considerable (as in, maybe 40+% of bases and landmarks) amount of stuff get wiped out, I suggest starting fresh. Hopefully that won't happen.

EDIT: Also, whoever gets mod positions may need a quick run-down of what powers they can use to aid in keeping the server free of griefers.

Good timing too - just restored my Win7 from a backup to try and solve the BSOD issues!

EDIT: As a result of the new roleplayers in the community, there is also a "roleplay" world. Never mind them...they are there since their usual server crashed.
~~Though I wonder if this new group~~There are also a couple bugs from recent issues which are to blame for the obscuring of several major areas in the livefeed.
...and as I was typing this on my laptop whilst connected to MC server on desktop, another erratic restart.

Edit: DDR wanted me to throw this by you folks. What are your thoughts on the messages that pop up when we find ores underground? Ex: "Dr_Strafe just found some iron ore!" etc. Personally, I find them a bit too repetitive and tiresome. Usually when one finds something cool or rare, they'll post it in the main chat.

The server has been patched up to 1.7.2 and has been stable for many hours. Lots of people on tonight.

Terribly annoying, especially in the case of iron. Also hate how it automatically takes up main chat when users usually do it themselves.

I Agree, before the first roleback from griefing, me mudkip and stafe have had iron pop up like 277 times in that night XD

Livefeed map now has a chat function! Talk to us players from there whilst tracking our moves...once every 5 seconds at most :V

Also, DDR hinted earlier this afternoon that moderators may be instated tonight.

EDIT: Went to Nether to get lava, and it seems the community base is gone! Warped to a new portal in a very inconvenient location. Tried going back to main world that way, I landed back in Skye's shrine.
Tested on DDR's, Skye's, and Ryudo's portals. There is one more far to the west (mine - somehow survived the server wipe) that may be fine, though, but it's not connected to anything.
Though it seems this is already noticed, since the community one now has a sign saying "The Nether has been reset. Good luck!"

And I guess I'll be off hunting giants.

Eh? I haven't been on regularly for around a couple of weeks, so I think you have me confused for "Eraiyna." Still, whether you do or not, you have my vote too! And on that note, I think I'll hop on now!

Edit: ... For anyone concerned about me repairing the community house, don't be- if the server's just recently been updated to 1.7.2, installing a new version of BigBrother would wipe player information on who placed/destroyed all blocks from there on out. Installing a new version of BigBrother = Clean slate for the server, which sucks when griefing like this happens. If anyone knows of any griefed structure that they'd like a hand in having repaired- aside from sprite art- I'd be more than happy to assist in repairing it.

Sprite art's an exception for obvious reasons, but I'd be happy to help you collect the materials needed to repair it. As far as the possibility of being a moderator goes, I have experience with both BigBrother and LogBlock, as well as many, many other mods/plugins. When in doubt, I have a list of some 70-90 commands and a brief explanation of what each does/which plugin they go with in notepad, in case I need a reminder.

One MAJOR issue with the obscured livefeed!
It grows as players venture further and further out.

I have noticed this over the past few days as both Stuffman's and my sea towers, as well as areas to the west I'm exploring, have become obscured when they previously weren't.

DDR man, I'm going to level with you.
I think by letting this new group into the server, we've opened up ourselves to much more griefing than we have ever had. I'm not certain that the roleplaying group are at fault themselves.. but the people that get our address from their forum.

Honestly, the more public we become with this server's address, the more this problem will worsen. Some griefing here and there, (as frustrating and unfortunate as it is) is doable and fixable. However, this is starting to become a daily problem. A problem that might not get solved by the mere addition of moderators.

What do you think? Is this something that we're just going to have to deal with so we can have more players? Or do you think we should go back to a more private group?

Edit: We may need to revert to a recent backup. Some people got hit very hard with this last attack.

Seconding Strafe here that the server has begun to grow a bit too large. With chat getting filled with griefer complaints (even in RP world), "where I go" questions from lost RPers, random users popping up for a few minutes, and continuous rebuilding (looks at Night4ce's Church of Mokou, community house, even the now-gone QB), this is getting too far. Building new base further out to reduce the chance of griefers.

Another thing I've noticed is that the server IP seems to be all over - MC Forums, here, YT (this alone scares me)...and now we have 50+ unique players. Brilliant!

I don't think Big Brother is doing much to help.

I highly recommend (1) putting in moderators as soon as possible and (2) taking down instances of the server IP, such as MC Forums (upon the RP registrations ending - tell them to save it somewhere before removing it), your YT channel (just set the teaser vid and others to private, and on future ones don't give away the IP address), the MC server stats banner (which gives the IP away flat-out), and maybe even here (tell users to PM existing players). Maybe we also need spawn jails as well, though we'll first need mods around the clock.

EDIT: I'm personally against reverting and instead encourage more donations to those who have been affected.

I agree with what Dr. Strafe and PARU have said wholeheartedly.

Repairs to the community center are finished, and repairs to Skye's home are coming along nicely! My biggest concern is that this wasn't griefing at all, as it seems like only wood, wool, etc. was destroyed in this home that's around 80% flammable. And with all that burning netherrack near the top... So, for that reason- and due to getting lazy after gathering/placing 6+ stacks of pine logs, planks, fences, torches, etc- I decided not to place too many more pine logs near the roof/burning netherrack, in case something like that happens again.
