To add to Bardiche's list, a warning about time commitments: You should expect to spend around 3 hours a day on mafia, possibly more. Furthermore, if you are new, it's unlikely that you'll be night killed which means you'll be in the game until you're lynched or the game ends. Plan on having 3 hours a day for about 3 weeks devoted strictly to mafia before joining. You'll also need the constitution to handle everyone in the game calling you scum.

That said, I don't have enough time to join this round.

I can devote more than 3 hours a day to mafia. And Chaore should be warned for those insults.
There is a rule for RPG which states that you should not post anything which might offend other players. So why is Chaore getting away with it?
I didn't replace out because I couldn't commit to the game. I replaced out because of Chaore.

Mafia games have a natural tendency to get kind of rough sometimes. You'll have to get used to that if you want to enjoy the game.

I know. But those insults were really mean. And even Hero999 got offended.
He should be warned.
And I can't really enjoy the game if I'm not in it.

Speaking of not being in.
JOB can /in if at least half of the confirmed players accept.
Give him an answer everyone. If I don;t get to play because nobody answered I will be so pissed.

The only real offensive on me was in his QT, but that is not really something I was serious about. So I can't say that I got offended, because in game he really didn't do anything to really anger me to heaven and hell.

The QT was the original offense.
Both QTs from Graveyard Anonymafia and from the most recent game.

Chaore gets angry easily, it's just his nature.  I've had my fair share of the stupids and chaore picks up on bad play and calls you on it, in less than enviable terms.  I actually never get angry at chaore or upset, because I think the guy is pretty funny (his wit is par excellence).   Anyway take heart young one, holding grudges is not good for character, regardless of being justified or not. (This is not to say your judgement of somebody can't be allowed to tank).  So be the better man; pluck up that MANLY chest, and strut with pride onto the battlefield, and go tell these bitches what's what!  Your play until you replaced out wasn't bad at all.  Your vote on chaore lacked meat and a bit of clarity, but as shadoweh admitted, you were obvtown, at least in my eyes.

That said I welcome you to try again!  Don't let the MAN get you down. Be the MAN, become the MAN!  And your MANLINESS will shine.

Also /in.   Because I'm a MANLY MAN.

I thought I wasn't bad at all. I was "sheeping" you because I thought you had a good reason (and unlike what everyone thought, wasn't due to the RNG. It was about the line at the end).
The fact that he called me a newbie seemed uneeded. And I really didn't like it. He is the one who has the grudge on me. Especially if he states in IRC, joking or not, that he will vig me regardless of alignment, if he gets a vig role.

Also I would try again if I was allowed to play.

Understood.  I also was confused as to why people were content to say "punishing RNG votes is scummy!" when that wasn't the reason for my vote and your vote.  Perhaps he does have a grudge on you; but even if you find it hard to bear, it's always better to ignore such things, and not give satisfaction to those who try to degrade you.  Perhaps both of you think you have righteous cause to lambast the other, whether your metric is bad play or general forum decency.  But in the end, an ongoing argument only  produces sad-faces and tears.  So chin up.  Just treat Chaore as a fallacy, a figment of the imagination, an unreality, a meaningless existential crisis, by not mentioning his name or refering to him for a while unless you two are directly talking to each other (don't do this in game however).  If you do this, and bite your tongue, I can assure you that you'll feel better in the long term if not in the short term.

Don't lynch me.

Chaore did not do anything that required me to discuss modkilling him with PX. In the context of the game, he did nothing wrong.

What happens in the game, stays in the game. RPG's rules give leeway for pretend-emotions. In the game, he's acting the anger and speaking in the character of being angry. That's not something to punish him for.

If you have trouble separating real and faked emptions, as I've already told you, talk to the guy and sort it out between the two of you.

This. I don't like it when people join games only to replace out over the drop of a hat, it's rather inconsiderate to the mods.

I'm fine with giving JOB another chance! :3

But yeah, one thing to keep in mind is that in mafia, ofttimes the words on the page aren't really what the players truly mean. There's lots of lying and deceit in mafia! Not just from scum. Heck, even in real life I feign to be more ignorant then I really am, and in mafia it's no different (This is not to say I'm not legitimately dumb sometimes. In mafia it's worse because a lot of my dumbness comes from forgetting something (Which I am like, clinically bad at), or doing something that 10 seconds later I realize "WHY DID I DO THAT" but it's too late to edit my post or anything. I can be smart, but am very derp and this shows blatantly in a game like mafia.)

Or people get heated in mafia sometimes, too (It can be a very emotional game for some people), but. Just try not to let it get to you too bad! If nothing else, tell yourself they don't mean it seriously because A.Pretty possible they don't and B.Even if they are serious that way it's less upsetting to pretend they aren't :V

That was more directed at general. We have too many newbies dropping out.

Because let's face it: if I'm being an ass to someone, or Chaore is being an ass to someone and you replace out, you're being an ass to the mod. Dropping out means you let A) the other guy win and B) the mod loses, and so do you.

I'm frankly not so sure it's a good idea to let J.O.B. play if he's already getting upset over being called a newbie/not a newbie so start acting the part. There's a looooot worse that can happen in Mafier games and I cannot, in good conscience, say I believe him to be ready for it.

less QQ moar pewpew

It's just that replacing out is really lame and should only be done if absolutely necessary.
I mean, someone calling you a newbie/not a newbie is not a good reason to replace out at all.

I'm impartial to JOB playing again, don't really care either way, so I guess I'll say it's a yes from me.

If any of you actually knew what was happening then you would know that Chaore caling me a newbie was only the last straw, not the cause of the problem.
The cause was him insulting me in his Graveyard Anonymafia QT just for not being good at the game. I mean seriously, it was only my second game (and in the first game I had to replace out bcause it was ruining my sleep schedule too much (I've adjusted to that now though)). That's the main reason I don't like Chaore .

To be honest, I don't think Chaore's brand of half-snarky insultposting is any worse than what I saw of bofh's posts when I first started playing Mafia, and given that I don't recall ever reading about anybody petitioning for bofh to be given whatever the equivalent of a yellow card was back when he played, I don't really see the problem.
