So, after getting hold of it and given it the quick readjustment after Marisa's play-through (stupid lag on full screen), I then played as Youmu (both on Normal, btw). I wasn't expecting Normal to be as... easy as it was. Ok, Stage 3 gets some what more up there with the boss fight, but I did Marisa's only losing one life. I derped stage 1 of Youmu's however by wasting two lives but still cleared without continuing; so that's something. Leaving the shrine maidens alone because, well, I just never use them. ^^
Now on to the brief review: Warning, massive text of black approaching! [So nanoka~]
Spoiler:
So, no actual mid-boss; well, not named anyway. Don't why I thought 'oooo, is this going be Nue again,' especially when it IS supposed to be a spirit.
Stage 1 boss and... YUYUKO! All this talk about Mima and none of us thought about Yuyuko being involved. I thought she might be seeing as Youmu was playable, but as a stage 1 boss? Well, nice to see her back; even if the fight was easy. (Though when she did her 3rd card, I thought I had triggered a last word or something; wasn't expecting it.)
Stage 2 and it's time to get used to the usual. Kyouko is certainly a pretty cute character; her attacks took me a while to realise she was containing the bullets inside the barrier. That really is a neat trick, and I can imagine on Hard and Lunatic, that will be quite the challenge. The fight was still easy though, and it gave me a chance to test out Youmu's focus mode and have fun with the PoFV type shot she fires once charged.
Stage 3 time and the patterns are starting to pic... HOLY HELL! KOGASA!?!?!? WHAT THE? WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!?! I mean, S2 Boss & EX-Mid in UFO and in the very next game a S3-MID?! Is she trying to become the first character to appear as a boss in every stage? Well, a surprise indeed. She doesn't have a spell card in Normal though, which is a shame. Like to know if she does in Hard or Lunatic; someone please tell me.
Time for the boss and you've got to be joking... A loli zombie appears in a Touhou game... For the person who called that (and I know who you are) damn you. Anyway, Yoshika finally gets me moving around more and gave me my first glimpse of this ghostly side. It's... weird. I'm not sure how else to put it. It's like 'you killed me. I'm going to go FANTASY HEAVEN ON YOU!' Which it kind of does since your attack is stronger, bullets do nothing and everything gathers to you. Sure, there's a timer, but having lost the first life on the 2nd spell card of S3, the timer was quite long.
There, I think that about does it. Of course, the sooner someone can get to translating, the better. I'm impressed with the music; love the style of the menu theme! The game itself and how everything works is so nice and lovely to look at and I can not WAIT to see the full game.
