Nah, the road trip was just me trying to make the experience seem more awesome than it was.

We spent 10 minutes under the rain at around 6.15 PM trying to hitch a ride, and when we did it spent about  1 hour or so, but the total time spent travelling was 2 hours =w= since we took a train to get to that first point.
