No, the knives that "appear outta nowhere" are the time-compressed knives, they appear in a straight line forward and backward of all blue knives, the reason why they get so close is because Sakuya shoots tons of aimed knives.

As for the replay?

Dude, you... Might actually be better than me in MOF, and I already did a normal 1cc, seriously, even on easy I can't PERFECT all 5 stages...

But It looks like you have some real troubles with Kanako, I will make a little replay to help you, ok? I'm no pro, but I can help.

I think it's a 1 death run, yes, I already forgot, not that I keep track of that anyways.

For the enemies with ring-like danmaku on the stage portion, it's all aimed at you, keep quiet, wait, sidestep, remember to do a second quick sidestep to avoid whatever's left though.

For her first card, I recommend getting to her face and bombing. Annoying as hell.

For her second non-spell, sorry, can't really help you there, but you have your ways so...

And, yes this is a normal run, but the same strategies apply, though: her final spellcard is EASIER in normal than on easy, good luck >_>''

Yeah baby. Took only four days, with school taking up most of my time anyway. Now if only I can actually make more progress on DS to compliment this...

I also realized that this Sunday marks one year since I started playing Touhou. My how times flies. I don't know if I'll have anything big ready for that day, but if I don't then clearing all of StB will count for that.

Ugh, I can't stand StB though. the controls are way too unwieldy for me.

It's her normal focus speed that's the problem - it's way too fast to do any sort of micrododging whatsoever. Aya's charging speed is also too slow to handle attacks like those seen in the normal shooters, but fortunately StB has some attacks designed for said really slow dodging speed, so it balances out.

It's the radically different gameplay that's the problem. I also can't stand PoFV. GFW, also gives me trouble but I still prefer that one over PoFV and StB/DS




EDIT!!!! OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG !!!!!!! UFO easy mode 1cc!!! I also captured all of Hijiri's spell cards! scratch that ! I PERFECTED HER SEXY LITTLE ***! Would have almost perfected the entire stage had i not screwed up in the stage portion, I saved myself with a deathbomb though :3

I was literally on the edge of my seat with adrenaline VERY high. I really screwed up with stage 5 so I entered stage 6 with only a few lives. The fact that I even got to Hijiri was amazing enough, With each survived non-spell card and every captured card the heart started beating that much faster. Massive confidence booster. Next I will need to see if I can finally 1cc PCB...not tonight though. Even if they where on easy mode I still 1ccd TWO games today. My heart cant take much more....

Stupid Snake Bitch. At least she didn't give me as much trouble as that gluttonous ghost when I first fought her. Took me MONTHS just to get to the point where I could beat her without loosing every single life I had. I swear for the first few weeks after I beat PCB on easy I couldn't actually beat her in practice mode again XD.

Now lets see if I can put some of these methods to practice today

So yeah, I finally managed to get DS working on my new computer. To add to the accomplishments, captured a bunch of new cards, bringing my total to 98. Doubt I'll finish the rest anytime soon, but whatever.

As for the replay itself. That was a pretty amazing run, sure, stupid deaths here and there, but hey, you're a newbie, it happens.

btw, did anyone notice the edit I made up top for my UFO easy 1cc? Probably my biggest achievement so far

Anyways, Ignore the blue UFOs, they are only good for scoring, trust me.
The rule of thumbs in the final stage is to go for yellow UFOs if you aren't at best 3 pieces of life from gaining a new one.
And get more red UFOs. Seriously.

I don't know how I did it either!

I try to get reds but I always mess up. Ill either miss it because of a wall of danmaku or it will change color the second I pick it up. I really hate the UFO system >_<

Recollecting UFOs is a hard task indeed, you will notice in MY replay that I give everything I have (Including bombs) and a little more to gain those UFOs.

But I gotta agree, the UFO system does suck.

I hate that card, I think everybody does though, well, that's the advantage of having the most powerful bomb in the game :V

...Or second most powerful, can't remember if wily toad deals more damage.

As for fighting shou again, curvy fucking lazers, nobody can withstand that. It's the kind of fight you either improvise completely, or practice until you're hax.

I was so close, I just had to finish the game. And just in time too. It's after midnight where I am, so it's now officially been one year since I started playing Touhou (not that anyone cares about that :V). Considering how, well, "not fun" I find DS to be, it's enough of an accomplishment I even had the patience to clear the rest of the game. I never want to deal with Aya's wonky control scheme again. Unless ZUN makes another photography game that is.
