Edit: In that regards, it's important to note that the Islands did not crash into Gensokyo. We can rule out that the magic was dispelled completely, likely to prevent any serious damage to Gensokyo.

Realizing this is what made me balk and start thinking about the "how", yes. If something was simply cut (like what Flandre would likely do) then the islands would probably have just smashed down into the ground, but they only fell so far before coming back to rest. I'm positive there's a non-trivial reason for this.

Considering that we're playing as Iku, and that Tenshi is an important figure in this story, I'd consider going over some of the plotlines in SWR to get an idea of what those characters think of Bhava-Agra in canon. It's likely that at least a few of those views made the jump into the Z-Machine plotline, though this is entirely speculation on my part.

UNRELATED: I'm kind of late with this submission to the Maribel Quest Q&A session, but I recently had a thought about Alice. Would the plot of Maribel Quest have been different if, during Reisen Quest, we had succeeded in finding her a partner?

but the incident squad is only going to talk to/beat up like eight people max

Kilga: If Reisen being ambassador to the moon is any indication, they're taking more of an interest now, and may have heard about Heaven when they didn't know as much before (if Rise having to ask Yuuka where Eintei was is any indication). A pity we didn't find out what sort of drugs they wanted from Eirin.

And it's also possible that someone actively prevented the islands from falling further... somehow, and for more predictable reasons. Unlikely (unless the Dragon was withholding that detail from us), but possible. Unless the islands are connected on a universal altitude by a different enchantment, and further falling was stopped by Guest Island crashing into Youkai Mountain? I dunno, throwing out ideas here.

EDIT since I didn't read the last page: Probably, rdj. Poor girl.

We already broken that theory when we denied Marisa Her Stage One Midboss fight

This could be a real possibility. If what we know about the Islands is inconclusive, we may have to make a stop there to double check. Sanae wouldn't be happy.

I'd like to offer the possibility that the culprit is an original character and/or caused the islands to drop by accident. Although neither have been the case so far in a text adventure parsed by Purvis, as far as I know.

Original character ain't Purvis' style, by and large. Accident doesn't sound likely, unless... unless the sword was being used to support the Heavens staying up? Except it didn't happen last time, and more warning would have been provided if it'd been instated since then, right? And Tenshi didn't stop to ask/wonder what the hell was going on. Hmm... interesting thought all the same.

A point is that, aside from injuries and possible peach-theft, Bhava-Agra was largely unaffected by the fall. As silly as this might sound we could just... wait it out. Meet a few people, help them with their business, and, eventually, the instigator(s) will show her/themselves out of boredom - patience is not something Gensokyans are well-known for.

Unless they're planning a second stage of the coup that would be better to cut off, or if part of the point was to corrupt/mellow out Bhava-Agra by dumping it in the middle of Gensokyo. Likewise, I doubt there's enough peaches to keep people pacified for very long, and the Incident Solvers are going to end up pummeling SOMEONE for this, and Iku's on the list.

However, I think that if we can't get a good track on Tenshi in short order, it would be better to take our time a little, since the trail would have grown too cold to gain much from confronting her as quickly as possible. That point may have passed already after doubling back to speak with the outworlders again - I made the 'tracking' suggestion more out of pedantry and pondering loopholes than as a serious idea. At this point it might be a better idea to at least spend time working out some of the problems on the islands while working on finding where the hell Tenshi got off to and what to do about whoever's responsible for this, which I'm guessing was your point anyway.

>No one likes random interrogation.
>You would suspect that the more you find on your own before trying to ask The Dragon, the happier it would be. After all, it did entrust this task to you. At the same time,  if you have questions no one but it can answer, it probably wouldn't mind if you inquire. But, it would be a good idea to ask all of these questions at once. Multiple sessions would probably annoy it.

While a good idea, I think we should get a little more information and relevant questions first. Like accosting Remilia's squad and at least figuring out what they're doing with that island. And seeing if that fairy-precious island is doing okay. And find a Tenshi trail hotter than where we missed after Renko's report.

>Where was Tenshi heading by Renko's report? At least, what direction, and what major landmarks are in that direction?

>She was going southward, according to Renko. This would give her most of the Forest of Magic to hide in, as well as the access to the Underground and the Bamboo Forest. You know that Marisa lives somewhere in all that, as well as some youkai and many faeries, but you've never explored the forest itself; you tend to just fly over it.

>You suspect you could ask Yuugi for help. But she would probably put a price on it. You can't imagine too many people underground would be worried about it, to be honest.
>Not very much. You've never been there. Even when you were bringing message of the earthquake, you didn't bother with it; you knew it's eternal nature would keep it safe.

>"Try to rest, now, and don't let this trouble you. I'll get to the bottom of things."
>Return to the tree we left Tenshi's clothing by earlier today

>She gives another weak nod. "Thank you, Lady Nagae."
>You leave the barn-turned-infirmary, and head back into he orchard. It's not too difficult to remember where you found Lorelei, thankfully. As you make your way there, you notice that a lot of the harvesting has been done for you by the fall. Unfortunately, you also see that not a whole lot of the peaches have survived the drop. Here and there, you see celestials looking for good ones among the mess. What a waste...
>You are able to find the exact tree pretty easily; Tenshi's dress is dangling from the branches.

>Thankfully, you don't seem to run into anyone dangerous along the way. As you pass over the forest, you notice the faerie cloud around the island near Kourindou, the forested one that is home to a small celestial community, no longer seems to have clouds of faeries around it. Instead, you see to see a number of them around the edge of it. From this altitude, you can also see the scattered houses of the celestial village.
