>"You too," says Alice, as she returns to fooling with whatever she has in her hands. You think you see a knife.
>You make you way onward toward Scarlet Devil mansion. Soon you find yourself walking along the stone walls of the mansion. Up ahead, you see the wrought iron gates. A squadron of six faeries stands in front of the gate, all dressed in maid uniforms and looking rather imperious despite their short stature, with their arms crossed and in wide-legged stances. There is a guard house off to the side. Obvious exits are East, West, West 2, and South.

Honestly, I have to disagree with a lack of information gathering in previous quests. In fact, I would argue that we spent far more time than necessary doing that in Maribel Quest. Yes, perhaps we missed a couple important bits, but we spent a huge amount of time talking to people in general. Even if you spend a protracted time talking to someone, it's easy to overlook that one question/topic that would have been relevant to something, and I don't think that's the kind of thing you can reliably hope to avoid simply by talking a great deal (or we would have already done so, then)

(Just as an aside re: information gathering, I am very much an objective-based player - I strive to achieve what needs to be achieved, at the expense of interaction with the rest of the world. This usually means that excessive talking to people actually turns me off a game, unless they're objective-critical people. I do realise this is a very personal preference, and I would not presume to demand this, but I can certainly ask that we do not tarry longer than we have to at any given person.)

Well, I was trying to be more simply suggestive about it, but if this is the kind of response my statement is going to get I'll just come out and say that Purvis pretty much told me "you should be doing this more". >_> We spent a while talking about things a few nights ago and this was one of the more notable subjects of discussion.

>"Tough beans!" cries the maid in front, a stout and pale blonde. "We're wise to your wily ways, Dance Empress!"
>"Juniper, my legs hurt..." says another faerie.
>"No weakness in front of the invaders!" cries the blonde faerie, presumably Juniper.

(That's fine, I have no qualms about the style of play the game requires. I was just expressing a personal preference for action.)

>You counter the faerie's invective, though you feel a little guilty for allowing yourself to sink down to such a level.
>You provide a basic tune for yourself, then go into action. It isn't difficult for you, though without having proper music, it feels a little bit forced. Still, you are satisfied with your performance.
>The faeries give various oohs and aahs. As you indicate to your opponent that it is her turn, she fumes at you for a moment. Then she begins something that can only loosely be called a dance. Lots of stomping and arm-waving and no grace at all. The kind of music this would fit would be very chaotic indeed. Objectively speaking, though, it does seem to be genuinely from her heart, you don't seem any hesitation or attempts to correct a motion. It also looks really silly.  And tiring, to be honest. You imagine it would give you a headache.
>After about half a minute she stops to catch her breath, glowering at you.
