>"Mokou, get the fires ready..."
>Shout, "Gengetsu cut that out right now, I am getting sick and tired of it!"

>"Dammit," Mokou says, "if she makes me do that to you again, I'm gonna show her what it feels like."
>You shout, and feel the weariness suddenly withdraw from you in reaction.
>Ran shakes her head. "I've mostly lost her again."

>While that might make a certain degree of sense, you did physically see her in the forest that night and heard her speak, although you could only catch fragments of her conversation from the distance you were at.

>"Huh," Mokou says. "Something, anyway."
>"She seems to be hesitating again," Ran says. You feel the faintest edge of slumber gently brush against you.

>You attempt to speak to Gengetsu again. The forest remains still.
>"She does seem to be less aggressive in her approach than the last time," Ran says. "I wonder why?"

>"Rest assured," Ran says, "If she attempts to do to you what she may have done to Maribel, we will correct it. We still have the dispelling incantation Patchouli scribed, and further resources at our disposal if that fails."

>Mokou takes a deep breath. "Be safe out there, ok?"
>"I wish you well," Ran says.
>You leave you companions behind and head further in. After they are well out of sight, and quite possibly out of hearing, you feel the sensation of gentle lulling on you slowly intensify. Despite knowing the potential hostility of its source, you can't help but find it relaxing. It's been such a tiring and stressful few days. Would it really be so bad to indulge yourself a little, now?

>Yet again, you get no response. But the silence is nice, really. Peaceful. It could be such a soothing place to rest. And look, there's a bed of moss over there large enough to lie on, even.
>As these thought swirl through your clouding head, you hear a single word in the distance. "Please." The voice is gentle, but timid.

>Give in, find a nice place to collapse. Reassure self with thoughts of Mokou burning Gengetsu's house down in retaliation if she tries something untoward.

>You hear a distant "Thank you."
>You find a suitable spot of ground and lie down. It feels fairly comfortable, even, although you suspect the magic upon you is contributing to that. Your head is barely upon the ground before gentle sleep rushes up and swallows you.

>You are in a great featureless sea, lacking form or definition. You can see no ground below you, although your feet tell you you're standing on something solid. You see nothing in the distance. It's hard to even understand the concept of distance here. Everything around you is black, with hints of mauve and other shades woven through it. Despite being mostly dark, there seems to be no shortage of light. You can see yourself more clearly than you could in the grove. As well as the person standing before you. She is a short blond-haired woman, wearing what looks like a blue and white maid uniform with a bright red ribbon upon her chest. She bows to you.
>"I am... sorry," she says. "I meant no harm. But I feel safer here."
