Oh, okay!

And I've never beaten OoT, Skye... :ohdear:

Granted I've never been to the Nether either, but.

Guh. I died. Now I can't find my cave-house. Has it been erased?

Unless you're playing on the hardest difficulty, it shouldn't have been.

So... I was walled up in my cavehouse at night. Stupidly decided to open and shut the door for whatever reason.

Creeper runs up and starts jumping like a madman (likely trying to get to me). I begin freaking the hell out.

So... I decide to change the difficulty to Peaceful.

Holy shit it worked and he's gone now.

Ok guys, I'm bumping this thread up because I know many of you may still play minecraft or may have been left undecided on wether to get it or not.

Well the news now reports that we are about to enter BETA with Minecraft!

And here's the thing....

If you bought minecraft during Alpha....All updates will be free, period!  No if, And or buts!

However....if you buy once minecraft goes into beta....you will only get updates for free till the game's offcial release. But bugs fixes will still be free after that

So if I were you, I'd go now and buy the game while it's in Alpha. That way any update wil be free for you!

The clocking is ticking though, as you have till December 20th (December 19th for us US fokes since he's basing it on Sweden's time)  before Minecraft moves to Beta!

So go get buying if you haven't bought the game yet.

Wow D: I'm glad I bought it already.

I purposely avoided this game for the longest time because I knew it was the sort of thing that would consume my life. Sure enough, once I bought the alpha and played it, nobody saw me for a week...

Welp, I suppose if there's going to be gift codes, it's time to give myself (and my friends) a gift that is eight times the size of the earth for christmas.

Especially if multiplayer is actually going to be reasonable soon.

My classmate have been trying to convince me in buying this for like 2 months but I kept on refusing :V

We made a deal: If he would beat IN Easy mode, I was going to purchase it. But he is not going to become a Touhou fan he said. Fair with me :V

Like many of you, I resisted the charm of this game and simply watched youtube videos and what not.

But, sometimes I actually have impulses (very very rarely), and exactly one week ago I snapped and bought alpha.  Good lord this game is amazing O_O.

Maybe its the fact that I enjoy simple games that let you do whatever you feel, or maybe its the adrenaline rush I get when I see a creeper all up in my grill. All I know is I can't wait till Beta comes out :D.

Gift Codes are now up, and Notch's team has redesigned Minecraft's website.

So now you can give someone you know minecraft if you like! : )

And if they use the code before the 20th, it'll be marked as Alpha and thus get all the Alpha benifits.
Sure wish I could have a gift code, but I guess I'll have to have my friend help me get an account before the beta rollover.

Actually, it's if the code is purchased before the 20th that it creates an alpha account.  Notch has said that if it is used afterwards, it will still give access to the Alpha benefits.

One more day left before the beta. I am curious if the author will make the mine carts more efficient. Their speed is to cry for while it was suppose to be a "faster form" of transportation. And I know about the boosting glitches, but they are annoying to build.

Say I always wondered. What does Notch mean with you don't have to pay for updates when you buy the alpha? Yes, it's obvious what he means, but who makes their customers pay for updates? ???

I have been enjoying myself allot with this game, and being the Touhou fan I am the priority for me was to download a Kourin skin, build a hakurei temple at my respawn point and - my greatest project so far - constructing my very own Magical Archive :V

Well if I recall correctly. Notch explained that he wouldn't be fixing the minecarts till around Beta. Also Notch hasn't done his final Alpha update which still needs to be done (leaf decay). I think it's because he's in the middle of participating in a 48 hour indie game design contest, so knowing him he might not have it done till on or after that the beta date (maybe he'll delay beta for a day or two)

More or less it's like this:

For Alpha players, all update will be completely free even after the game is offically released. (as in past beta and in release form.)
From there, add ons and expansions (yes Notch has mentioned about expansion packs for Minecraft) will be free for you after the offical release.

But for the Beta player, once the game is offically release, any exspansion pack that comes out after the offical release. Players from beta and beyond will have to pay for those little expansions. (they will still however get bug fixes for free!)

Some ideas that are mentioned include "Zombie Seige".

Oh so that's how it works. I was always thrown off by the word 'update'.

Ha silly me, now that I read this I realize what a silly question that was. I shall go to my observatory attic with a hole in the roof, to reflect on my actions! [/drama]

It's not hard to put three carts on a 2x2 track. :V

Also one of my friends discovered that if you make a booster like that and then attach it to the track, the carts stick together and stay in infinite fullspeed motion.  Haven't tested it myself, but that's what I heard.

Heya! If you still don't have a paid account- assuming you ever see this- and after I'm done posting ten replies around the forums, I'll be able to send you a private message with the name and password of a second alpha account I paid for. If you can't wait until then, you're more than welcome to get in touch with me over AIM, MSN, or whatever you'd like. Same goes for anyone else who would like to play Minecraft, but can't afford to!

That said, this Minecraft thread could use a shot of adrenaline! Does anyone know of any good SMP servers out there? I enjoy nearly any kind of server, ranging from vanilla and loaded with roleplaying to heavily modded with plugins and located strictly in the Nether! At the very least, even if it sounds unappealing to me, if you're willing to take the time to suggest an SMP server, I think I should take the time to give it a shot!

Also, I'm loving these verifications.

Nah I'm fine, I managed to buy it before the deadline. And as for SMP servers. As far as I know MoTK doesn't have one. And since I can't access the SMP (due to my mac being a Tiger.....) I can only play SSP. Regardless, on other news I am work on a little something. That I'll likely post here in the next few days. :P

Ahh, damn, I'm really sorry to hear that. Well, good news- with a game this popular, it's only a matter of time until it has multiplayer support for more systems than it does now, so hang in there! Also, I can't wait to see what you're working on!

Edit: To help re-energize this thread, does anyone have any amusing/tragic/interesting Minecraft-related stories to share?

Tragic: Have you ever gotten really lost after spending HOURS of work making your to-be Creeper Incineration Fortress of Pain and Creeper-Like Suffering Because to Hell With Those Guys look all nice?

I did.

And I found some clay and whatnot.

And I made a water trap.

And I don't want to die and never find it again. :ohdear:

Aww.. If it's SSP, you could use Cartograph! If it's SMP, I could try to help you find it, myself.  :3

Bah, cartograph is cheating.
If you wanna keep things honorable, just use a compass and track your way to your spawn point, leving a torch trail.

That way, day or night, if you die, just follow the torches and you'll be back at base. (and maybe pick up your stuff again)

Meh, I'm okay with any amount of cheating on any level in Minecraft, so long as it doesn't negatively impact people around me. I assume, however, that most people aren't. Still, I don't see much harm in deciding to use a program like Cartograph just once, especially after spending several hours working on a single thing, dying in a silly way, then being unable to relocate it. But~ that's just me. If you want to keep things as vanilla/honorable as possible, I'd definitely have to agree with Hourai! Also, you could make a second compass and a chest, then leave the chest- with the compass in it- close to spawn, in case you ever die, and find yourself in need of one again. While you're at it, it might be a good idea to fill it with other things you think you might need, too!

Today some families were over for Christmas Eve. One friend was into Minecraft, my other friends were new to it. They played their own world, we showed them the ropes, and they quickly learned about the wonders of Minecraft. On my turn at the controls, it was day, and I went out the door.
I said aloud, "Is it safe? Look right, look left!" I looked right, and right when I spun the camera left, another friend came up and called me. I turned around for a second, looked back, and a creeper was right in our faces.
We all screamed before we took the hit.

I've seen videos where people scream when they realize a Creeper is right behind them - Never thought I'd be one of them. :U

No one likes a Creeper - We pretty much hate them all. Yet... When you're caught in a situation like that, it's absolutely priceless. There wasn't a single person who wasn't laughing who didn't scream just a split second earlier. I think I learned something good about Minecraft today.

That... That was beautiful... ;_;

Well, I can't think of a single story to share. Maybe if I just stop typing for a second and think...
...
Well, it's been over an hour, I've got nothing. Most of it was wasted sending two large corporations a strongly worded letter each and talking to friends. I'm working on a bridge that tests the patience of the person crossing it to the fullest, or rather, I was- I haven't worked on that thing in at least a month. As it stands now, it takes no less than 21 minutes to cross from end to end, running at full speed in a perfectly straight line. If traversing the bridge in a line that is anything less than perfect, it could take anywhere from a fraction of a second longer to noticeably longer by several minutes to reach either end from either, opposite end. Also, running into hostile mobs on the bridge once night falls can and most likely will increase the time it takes to fully cross it, assuming the player even survives the trip. Once the Nether works properly in SMP, then I can continue working on the bridge. Yes, I plan on at least one portion of it leading through the Nether, while I work on creating The Laser Arena in there.
