An MotK server would be pretty cool. Or even a semi-private server for a few hours every now'n then.

* Potentially Yuyuko gives a thumbs up.

Then it's settled! I'll give this another shot.

(About two hours later...)

Good news! Got my server working again. Bad news! I wasn't sure which plugins were working properly and which ones weren't, so I deleted almost everything. Restarting the server from scratch with a new batch of plugins~.

Edit: It's voting time! Copy and paste the following, voting y/n as you edit it!

I want the server to be entirely in The Nether!
I want hostile monsters, [including/with the exception of] creepers, to spawn!
I want friendly animals to spawn!
I want to be able to kill other players, and for other players to be able to kill me!
I want /kit arrow to give me a single arrow! *
I want /kit food to give me a single, raw fish, which heals the lowest amount of health in the game! *
I want /kit tools to give me one of each stone tool and a stone sword!
I want /kit torch to give me a single torch! *
I want to be a/an [builder/mod/admin]!
I want fall damage to be disabled!
I want fire damage to be disabled!
I want water damage (drowning) to be disabled!
I want lava damage to be disabled!

*If you're willing to type the command over and over again to gather large amounts of this item, one at a time, be my guest! Also, these have varying delay times, so that you can only use them again once a certain amount of time has passed.

Plugins so far!
--------------------
DeathNotify (Tells everyone on the server that you died, and how you died, with customizable messages for being killed by different things, including cacti, creepers, fire damage, lava damage, PvP damage, and more! Four customized death messages for all things, with the exception of cacti. Twenty customized cacti death messages.)
WorldGuard (Tells everyone about players trying to do things like spawn TNT, and denies such actions. Also optionally disables things like creeper explosions and fire from spreading from one block to another.)

I want to be a/an [builder/mod/admin]! y to mod, but I don't think I'd be active enough to justify it :c

Ahh, I think I know of just one plugin that CAN limit PvP to certain areas. I've definitely played on a server that had one in use just after the Halloween update, but I'm not sure I'm thinking of the right one. Still, I'll look into it for you! Edit: Oh, and don't worry about being an active member of the server! Good enough to be a mod once, good enough to be a mod indefinitely, I say, unless you do something that disproves this. To me, being an active member is a non-issue. It would actually take MORE effort to make you a mod, then remove less than half a line of text to make you no longer a mod, or to change your user group, so why would I do that? xD So, what's your username, so that I can add you to a group? Esoterica, or something different?

Edit: Yep! Cuboid. I've usually been against installing it/playing on servers that use it, since it features commands that make building large structures into child's play, rather than something that would normally take many, many hours. Well.. It does have a few other nifty features- like disallowing PvP in set areas!- and it seems like I can restrict who can use those "make building way, WAY too easy" commands, so it looks like I'm installing it! ... Oh, right. I already have, and have customized it to be the way I want it to be. :3

Server IP + Port: Edited out.
At the time this post was lasted edited, the server was: Online/Offline!

((Not a single person came online for over two hours... v.v I guess people weren't as interested as I was hoping they might be.))

It could be due to (in the EST lands anyway) it's still fairly early.

I say give it another shot sometime! (And, again, had things not distracted me - this time it was Raocow - I would have been on. :ohdear:)

I don't know.  Some experimentation has led to the discovery that it only crashes when I try to launch the game through Steam, so I seem to be fine now so long as I remember not to do that @_@

Ah, I was wondering why Garlyle was no longer being reported as playing Half Life: Episode 3. <w<

Yuyuko: Thank you for the encouraging words!

Everyone: If you'd like for me to put the server up at any time, just send me an IM over MSN or AIM, and I'll see what I can do for you! My MSN and AIM account names can both be seen directly below this post, just below the signature~. Or just post in here, and I'll see the post eventually.

Edit, 1/1/11: Rather than double posting, here's this, my latest x-ray texture pack that I've made. Like every other version, it's basically the same one as before, just with slight modifications. This time, focused on making it easier to distinguish a few block types- namely dirt, gravel, and sand- to help keep your tools in tip-top shape, so you're not accidentally trying to remove gravel with a pickaxe, or stone with a shovel.

The latest pack!

If you find any good SMP servers, please let us know! Also, if you need any skins, here you go! :3 Oh, and here's a slightly updated version of the same pack. Thinking about starting it over from scratch and taking it in an entirely different direction, but we'll see.

Ahh, sorry about that. Due to having a terribly old computer with very little RAM, among other things, my personal server turned out to be a total flop. Oh, and the offer's still open! It's not for any one person- I bought it for many to play on! As soon as I submit this message, you'll be receiving a message with the name and password of the account in it!

So what exactly are the system requirements of this game? I have been thinking of getting it for a while, but my computer is just all kinds of old and terrible and buying a game only to be unable to run it wouldn't be very fun.

You can try the free browser version and see how badly it runs, then make your decision I guess.

Minecraft... well, I'll put it this way: It can lag just about any computer if it wants.

But if you turn on fog (and thus limit the game's necessary draw distance - which is basically set to "go as far as possible until it starts lagging their card"), even older computers can run it; it just might lose a bit of framerate.

I haven't tried this game yet.... I read the op, I read many posts, I've seen some descriptions. They all tell me it's like some kind of sandbox online lego tool. But the fame and...well...The kinds of people I know who are interested in it lead me to believe it's more.

Can someone just flat out tell me why I should or should not like this game? I like all kinds of games but at heart I guess I'm a turn-based strategy game fan. I like RPG games with lots of turn based strategy depth to their combat systems and character customization affection the said combat (hence Touhou Labyrinth), action games with lots of character customization builds and blah blah. I mean I like more than that but I guess the games I like most are the ones with the greatest number of elements similar to a turn-based strategy game. But don't think I like a game simply because there is no time limit or rush.

Sorry if that's vague, but...well. I just have a hunch I should try this game, but there are so many others that I want to try more when I'm currently not enjoying the ones I currently have access to.

I... /want/ to say there's a free version you can give a shot.

It kinda reminds me of Dwarf Fortress, except for the fact that I'm not stupidly awful at it.

And isn't in ASCII.

... and doesn't involve a huge lot of need of food'n booze'n whatnot.

... okay DF was a bad comparison. :ohdear:
