>How do you propose to do this, if you're currently in a different timeline?

>Oh. Seemed like both were visible. =[
>So there is an event from last night that we can sense, and an identical one seven years ago? If so, can we sense any real deviance between them?

>So there is an event from last night that we can sense, and an identical one seven years ago? If so, can we sense any real deviance between them?

>You can currently read the history of an event that took place here last night, in this timeline. From what you can sense, it seems to have been very similar to the one you actually experienced last night in (presumably) your own timeline. You cannot currently read the history of the event in your own timeline, since you're not there, but your non-magical recollection of it works just fine. The strange thing is that two nearly identical events seem to have occurred at the same place and the same time in two seperate timelines that have been diverging for seven years by this point. At first glance, that seems rather implausible.

>Let's focus on the no history person. Aside from coming out of nowhere, can we sense any similarities between her and the rifts? What about differences?

>Let's focus on the no history person. Aside from coming out of nowhere, can we sense any similarities between her and the rifts? What about differences?

>Well there's the obvious difference that she's a person, while the anomalous history you sensed at the rifts was from a momentary event. After their creation, the rifts had history in the same sense that you would expect any rock feature to have it; there was nothing further unusual about it. But both this girl and those events seemed to originate from somewhere beyond your history's reach, something beyond the normal flow and sequence of events.

>It's hard to say whether they move through history differently or not as a general rule. At the very least, while she was here, she seemed to flow through history like any mundane human would. How she got here, and how she left, you don't know.

>You... think something reached out for you. It was different than the last time you were here. That was something passive. This... you think was targeted.

>Can we find a point of origin, and what was aiming?

>It feels a lot like that fuzzy presence you encountered here initially, but you're fairly certain it is not the same being. Sadly, your history reading generally can't function precisely enough to act as a true radar.

>"Yay!" Rumia exclaims.
>"Well, that's good.... I guess," Mokou says, looking back at the trees.

>Does the event seem devourable, regardless?

>You don't think you could use your history powers to prevent it from affecting you, if it happens again. Generally, individual short-term spells are too transient to have enough history to grasp on and affect directly like that.

>Whether recent or not, you can't really track people as specifically as that. You can see people's involvement with pivot points in history, and in how they've interacted with events, but you can't really follow someone directly."

>"I don't think so...I've looked for both the people who where there...I've tried to probe the spot where the timelines diverged. I've tried to find causes for a lot of things. And yeah...that's a good thing. I was just hoping for...I don't know. I wanted to be able to fix this stupid timeline and make everything like it's supposed to be."

>"Here's hoping." Mokou stops and looks at you. "C'mon, we'll get it. Ain't come this far for nothing."
>You take off again and head back towards the mansion. Meiling looks up at you as you arrive.
>"Never saw any of those shadow things you mentioned," she says, sounding a little tired. "You sure you weren't just making that up to spite me?" She looks over at Mokou. "New friend?"
