>"Is there any way I can prove to you that this isn't just about pride? Is it so hard for you to believe that I honestly care about people, and don't like seeing their lives locked away from them by someone else?"

>"Is there?" asks Kanako. "Have you spared a thought for anyone else? For your own Satori and Koishi, who no longer hide themselves away? Is this what it means to care for you?"

> "So, the argument boils down to you're right because you're you. And you call ME the prideful one? I am amazed at how much of a hypocritical bitch even a god can be."
> Say the above matter of factly, not raising your voice or anything.
> "So basically I'll have to copy Reimu's performance from awhile ago? For someone who seems to think I'm a loose cannon, I think you have suddenly dipped yourself into a worse track record."
> Charge the cannon
> If she notices and reacts to it, say "Please wait. I'm pretty sure you have spellcards. You kinda left me without any. I think it's fair I at least get a 50% head start if we much fight. If' you'd prefer a peaceful resolution, I'd still prefer the insurance."
> If she doesn't notice just keep talking.

>"And again," says Kanako, shaking her head ruefully, "you prove my point."
>"Are you certain you wish to be doing that, Utsuho?"

> "What made you think this is about Pride? What you did was wrong and I'm just trying to set everything right again, changing what made them, them, its very sickening"

>"Consider some of the things you've said, and tell me how one is supposed to think anything else."

> "See, the trouble here is, you won't explain yourself. So, all we know is that you've taken Gensokyo hostage, and plunged everyone into a new world with new memories without their permission. All because you apparently think it's right. Again, what makes that different from Yuka thinking that the flowers growing year round superceded the comfort of Gensokyan citizens? What makes that different from Yorihime thinking that Patchy needed to be arrested for an accident? Instead of addressing these, you've decided to claim you're right because, well, you're you. How is this at all not an incident? And since you put Reimu out of commission, someone has to solve it."

Doing something drastic on the behalf of a few people? I daresay I'm caring more about the citizens of Gensokyo than you right now. I'm worried more about the greater good of those citizens as opposed to the desires of one or two of them. Life is unfair, but that hasn't changed in this new world. I can't imagine I'm the only one who's had to go through this rigmarole because you all forced this world upon us. Having to feel the utter wrongness of this world. In fact, I know Orin has been as well. That's another indication this is an incident, I believe."

Do you REALLY need to keep insulting her? Even if it's satisfying, I can't see how it's doing anything but making her more convinced that she's right

Nothing anyone is doing is doing anything but convincing her she's right. I pointed this problem out way back during the Sanae fight, but people didn't listen to me.

I honestly do not believe my actions during that particular incident can be excused, but have I not shown that I have no desire to destroy things in this world? I didn't even really hurt Sanae any more than enough to get her to surrender... Surely you don't believe that I am going to suddenly start destroying things again?"

> It's not that aggressive. It's merely closing off one of her excuses by pointing out it causes a logical inconsistency. It's banter with teeth, sure, but it's still well within the realm of banter.

EDIT: Wait, you don't seriously think a fight is avoidable at this point, do you? Buying time is all well and good but you still want to maintain control of the conversation, as well as try to get her angry. Angry people make mistakes.

EDIT EDIT: Reread what you said. And, "making it look like she started the fight" is basically throwing away initiative. I don't see any reason to blast her in the face yet, but we WANT control of this conversation, even if it's forcing her to fight. But, as I said, this banter isn't yet fighting banter, it's just a rather patronizing way to ask for explanation.
