Nice. I tried it a couple times and it seems pretty reliable for the post-midboss parts.

After my computer required a system restore, GFW is the only Touhou game I have since I had it on my flash drive at the time. (I'd have EoSD too, but for some reason, my laptop is pretending it doesn't have a disk drive...) Because of this, GFW is the only way I've been able to practice, and in the process, I went and made this silly replay. I already don't bomb much during regular play, and I've got enough of a hang on the early SCs to try this little challenge... Plus, I'm on Easy, so.

IN Lunatic perfect stage 1 and stage 2; nothing special. Almost had perfect stage 5 but I failed the last spell. And I guess this should help me get a perfect 6B. :V

Salamander Shield should be the least of your troubles with Perfect 6B.

I would've perfected that stage but Hourai Jewel makes me sick. Literally. Worst memogarbage ever. Really ruins an otherwise good final boss fight.

Yeah, Salamander Shield is pretty easy, but at least this way it would die more quickly.

The main challenges are probably BDB and LSI, and that second nonspell. (And Rising World, I guess, since Last Spells count.)

I find this somewhat funny coming from you. I never understood why would you need to memorize Hourai Jewel. Sure it's hard but it's perfectly possible to dodge it by simply reading it if you just get into the rhythm and listen to the bullet sounds to know when you should change direction.

Since this is the official bragging thread, in my first 1cc, I played that cards Lunatic version for the 3rd time ever and I only bombed once in the beginning. Still I somehow survived it to the end with absolutely no memorization involved.

I never really bothered to try perfecting this stage before.

Now to go for Stage 3 Perfect. My best is 1DNB Perfect Nitori(including midboss) with the death being a stupid derp.

I had 40 attempts last week attempting to capture it in spell practice. I was constantly getting completely walled. I don't know what you mean when you say read. I dodge the static pattern in the background and stream the spell and hope that Kaguya doesn't fire at the wrong moment.

Either this card is memogarbage or its just one of the hardest spells ZUN have ever made. It can screw you over so easily. However, whenever i fail Scarlet Gensokyo, VoWG or 80% Reflowering there was always a way out. I just failed because those things are fair.
Hourai Jewel however can wall you. And i find that bullshit.

Just a question: Have you tried experimenting with the card and trying different streaming strategies, or are you just ramming your head against it trying and failing with the same methods every time? :V Because I did the latter for 300 attempts, tried the former, and now am semi-consistent in capturing it. It's hardly memorization even if it's micromemorizable.

A little bit of both. You have to be extremely agressive and willing to switch directions at very unorthodox places. Eventually this evolves into "soft" memorization; after that it's just a matter of not ramming the grid.

edit: screw memorization, went there and captured it twice in four attempts after not seeing it for months. just switch directions early rather than late and you'll be fine.

I have tried everything and its still one huge wall fest to me. My capture rate is under 2%, capped it only twice. This bloody thing is completely unreasonable.

I think i'd have more sucess dodging PWG for 60 seconds straight. At least that wouldn't wall me off! :/

ok, solved it:

start the streaming from left to right, start the first switch before the halfway point, do the second switch at the obvious spot and then RUSH to the right corner to do the switch vertically. safe path, completely defuses the rest of the card, and will work 100% of the time barring the occasional mistap straight into a round bullet.

Switch directions for Hourai Jewel when you hear the sound of the bullets bouncing of the walls stop.

As for me, I just did another MoF no bombs lunatic 1cc.

Finished with four lives remaining. :toot:

Bombs do no damage to Hourai Jewel :v

Besides, it's easy. Timeout, second try. I just switch every 5 waves of bullets (after 7 waves initially). I'm pretty sure this method makes the card absolutely trivial. :V

(At least, it looks way easier than what ebarrett is doing. I came up with this while trying to get that no focus 1cc.)

I'm really only interested in doing it on IN, MoF, and SA sometime. I've been attempting MoF's No Bomb, and I've gotten up to Aya. Stage 4 just annihilates me.
