Now if only I wasn't so busy setting up my apartment, I'd probably be trying and failing to get in on the fun. I'm debating if I want to spoil myself before playing though (aside from knowing who the Extra Boss is).

I generally don't like stuff where it's "bomb or die", but it's not like you have to actually bomb, you're still running a lot of risk in a lot of the patterns even if you do use your freeze (mainly on 2/3 since fire and/or lasers), and using it incorrectly generally spells your death.

I'm just happy to have 1cc'd B-1 Route on Normal.  That was definitely the hardest one for me when I was just clearing them by force, so the remaining ones should be easy.

I too finally managed a B1 1cc. It's been, like, almost a DAY since the game came out and I hadn't unlocked extra yet, what a disgrace. :V I've heard fun things about

Also, I was in a way relieved to see Reimu in the ending. For a while there I was worried this would be the first thing of, well, anything in the official canon to not have Reimu in them (well, I suppose the Renko/Maribel stories excluded her, but those take place in the future, so...).

For the experts, is a no freeze normal 1cc (any route) looking feasible? I'm having quite a bit of trouble even on easy, though at least route A1 looks to be in reach. Having power/bombs tied to freezing bullets makes this unnecessarily difficult.

Welp, I can assure you it's unfathomably difficult on lunatic. I would know. I may drop down to lower difficulties and try it out though, I'll see if I can get anywhere with it. Oh, I'm also going for no bombs, since that counts as freezing.


Also, if anybody is interested in scoring, the only tips I got so far are:

• Don't shoot at the bosses at all. Just freeze them. Time out everything and freeze as much as possible. This will get you gold medals (?). Bombing also counts as freezing and will not drop your score, as far as I can tell.

• Clear the game with as many lives and bombs as possible. Looks like your clear bonus is dependant on it, and so far makes up a massive chunk of your score. Just look at Jaimers' Extra clear.

Is uh, anybody else interested in scoring? If so, any other tips? Any route is fine.

I couldn't get it to work. Since freezing is done by holding the shot button it's impossible to not shoot at all and still freeze stuff. That earned me silver. I also tried timing a card out in the corner and freezing stuff but that only got me bronze.

You max out at 3 bombs, so using them when you are close to reaching 300% on strategic places might benefit score, but  not if you're gonna need them for survival anyways.

On A-2... How can you get a gold medal on the second boss spell card (I can't tell Sunny and Luna apart)  where she fires big expanding rings of very dense bullets. Seems almost impossible and this is on normal.

edit: well it's not THAT hard I guess. I tried it on lunatic and could get a few waves.

. Still haven't cleared Extra though; I always manage to make the dumbest mistakes because I try to rush things as quickly as possible by getting in her face and freezing it. Some of the noncards are also pretty tough. Would grind this more, but baw school, etc.

The medal conditions are as follows:
Bronze - finish the spellcard by any means possible
Silver - capture the spellcard
Gold - capture the spellcard without freezing

Cleared Extra, now to just get a decent run. Her 4th card looks like it'll be the trickiest, but other than that, it's like any other Extra where most things are--if not learned on the spot--figured out by the second or third run.
