bleh, poll's up, closes in 12 hours

A late start, but it shouldn't affect anything.

Just wondering, are probated users still allowed to vote?

Either way, I actually picked Dimahoo because this would be a good week for the game anyway.

Giga Wing got nominated the last few weeks, any chance of it being added to the poll? :V

I'll make my actual vote later.

Fine, fine. I reset the poll, so anyone who wants to vote for Giga Wing who already has voted is now able to. Please resubmit your vote, otherwise.

Just had a pretty weird run of 1.5 Original. 3D1B stage 3. All 3 deaths were on the boss. Followed by NDNB Stage 4. Followed by me barely missing the 1up. Made it through most of stage 5 without dying. Game overed before Larsa. A little over 195,000,000.

Playing Mars Matrix for SotW would inevitably cause untold amounts of rage and despair I think.

I'm sort of tempted to vote for it.

Especially since I'm already close to counter-stopping it.

You guys wait for the week Deathsmiles comes out in the US to pick Giga Wing. I hate you guys because now I probably won't even bother with playing it this week.  :P

Just kidding about that of course, but I'll still probably end up putting little or no time into that game now.

Had a few more  complete :fail: Futari runs.

Edit: Talking about Giga Wing of course, I'm going to be putting a lot of time into Deathsmiles.

Was going for Tsuujou again, and somehow pulled off some nice scoring in the first four stages, entering Stage 5 with 80m. So of course, I did the stupid thing and carried on going for Tsuujou (i.e. no bombs) instead of trying to score/not die on Stage 5. :V The result was a game over just before Evaccania to the crazy clonespam part with 103m. It's not bad, but... that could have been 120m. ;_;
Let's fight.

You do realize you can bomb and still loop, right? It's a combined total of 6 deaths and/or bombs.

Yeah, I know that, but very often in Ketsui there are situations where I think it's unlikely I'd survive; if I was bombing, I'd use a bomb, but if I was going by deaths I'd try and clear it, and sometimes it works when I thought it wouldn't. Getting there via 6 deaths is much, much easier than via 6 bombs, unfortunately. :derp: Of course, for scoring you want to do it the other way around since dying slices a third off your counters, while bombing does nothing aside from not getting any chips while the bomb is active (as far as I know).
Let's fight.

Of course, bombing does get rid of the Ura loop as well. But you've only met one of the requirements for it so far(No bombs). You still have the No Deaths and 120,000,000 score to do.

I know you can do it someday.

shmups are depressing

it's as if the games say
"you are not good enough"
"you will never be good enough"
"ok, maybe if you quit your job, abandon your girlfriend and forget about personal hygiene, but I still wouldn't bet on it"

So I guess we're playing Giga Wing. Just did a practice run because I haven't been playing this for a while and whoa:

Entered the last boss with 0/0 and still made it pretty far. Stage 5 in this is pretty much the definition of stupid deaths. Lost both of my extra lives there. I'm pretty sure I could reach the TLB, the normal final boss isn't that hard except for couple attacks.

EDIT: I checked up how my score measures and it turns out it totally sucks. How does the scoring work in this game anyway?

I wanted to vote for Varth, but will show my neutrality by voting for Dimahoo :p

Anyways, I know by now, that Giga Wing is going to win. I still feel sorry that someone I know.. mustn't know of the SotWs (explaining once again, because of more people coming in and potentially shifting the voting or complaining why didn't I call them earlier :p)

Is there advantages for taking down bosses quicker, instead of trying to get medals from them? Also, why do people prefer Widerstand, and how do I control its options?

edit: this thread answered most (or probably) all of my questions :p (hope it helps new players)

neku: now for something important.
Translations.
How much time do you guys think it will take for HM to be translated? Besides everyone's story modes and the whole menus, there's also the fact that the way HM's programmed is different from all other games. I bet it'll take two months.

lusvik: I don't mind about playing HM in japanese. The language of punching other people is international.

Technically shadowbringer should win both, having a round with the highest score and having a round with the best time. However, that would kill the point of awarding it to two people. Therefore, shadowbringer wins IP, and Zengar, in a close second place, does as well. Congrats.

And damn it Gamestop, why the hell haven't you gotten it in yet? I got the call last night that it would be in.

I'll wait a week to make sure people can get their copies of the game. Mine hasn't even shipped yet. :(

Damn genius. I've never enjoyed a fic that much  aside from Nekoyayou maybe

Just tried out Stella Vanity. Pandemonium is Mushi Ultra, Hard is Touhou Lunatic :V The game is really fun though. Any chances we'll be seeing the full release in C78 ?

Pretty sure it doesn't matter.  The only versions that seem to be noted are Arcade and Dreamcast, the latter of which has no slowdown.

I haven't played enough of both regions thoroughly to tell if they are any different. Doesn't seem likely though.
