Sticks take some getting used to, yeah. Once you get the hang of them, they're pretty damn nice, though.

Sticks are hard to use first time around, but for me, they're the best form of controller I've ever used. It's why I'm marginally decent with a pad and horrible with the keyboard, I've been spoiled by the stick >_>

What. You're in a Japanese arcade and you're playing DoDonPachi? I'm going to assume they had nothing else. :V

Okay, I can do the first half of Ketsui stage 5 now but FFFFFFFFFF that descend into hell section.  :colonveeplusalpha:
Aaand this is the section that makes reaching the second loop (and the 1cc at all) so hard. I still haven't hit Tsuujou again since that one time a few months ago. :colonveeplusalpha:

Yeah but, if I were in Japan, I'd gravitate to inaccessible games, like DFK or Pink Sweets. :P

Oh god. Futari is back-ordered now too.  :ohdear:

And you should also consider the fact IN JAPAN, DFK and Pink Sweets are already quite old.

The most recent CAVE shmup I recall playing in an arcade was Death Smiles 2, myself.

They had ESPGaluda 2 (i think it was called) and Death Smiles as well as some other things i'm sure. My friend also said they had Castle Shikigami but i don't really know if those are in the arcades. I didn't see it anyway. But i just went ahead with DoDonPachi because that was a shooter i knew was good fun until things get monotonous. ESPGaluda and ESP.RaDe is just plain boring though.

They also had a Raizing shmup. Shoulda tried that.

Btw. I bought Mushihimesama Futari.

Futari 1.5 Original 1cc. I even had one spare life in the end, score 168M. Not bad on my 3rd day of playing this, I think. :V

Everything I could gather before "buying" led me to believe that Play-Asia was the more trustable site, not to mention that the consoles are a lot cheaper there. That ~130$ difference gets inflated to ~240$ when importing in Brazil where you pay taxes on top of taxes on top of taxes on top of currency conversion on top of everything.

For now I'll just get annoyed and grumpy and say "fuck" a million times, I guess, until either the purchase goes through or I get my money back.

I've done all my shmupping shopping in NCSX.

Except for the Jap X360, which i bought in MercadoLivre :P

All my games after Mushi Futari last year came from NCSX. Cheaper, faster shipping and they under declare it for me. Never once I've been taxed.

Got to the final boss in X Mode. Helz yes for dieing twice in stage 2 and missing both 1ups.

Yeah, X Mode is a lot easier.  :V

Also, holy shit tackling the final pattern of the stage 4 midboss in the middle of the screen makes it so much easier.

Watching Sapz play Futari made me interested. The game looks fun but i can't really try it before i get home from my oriental journey. And sadly i don't know which Raizing shmup it was. I only saw their name flash on the screen for a couple seconds and saw graphics of the same style as Dimahoo but i'm not sure if that was what it was. If it was i should have played that instead. Much more entertaining than DDP.

In your current mindset, it may take you a little getting used to, but I think you'll love it once you play it a bit. There's a reason why it's my favorite game, after all. :3

Damn DDP is more addicting than I care to admit, at least in short bursts. 8.5 million run that almost wasn't because usually allowing myself to get tackled is a auto-restart. Decided to keep going and ended up perfecting the 3rd boss until his final phase :o. Game Over on S4 naturally.

I think I figured out something that'll make the initial post S3 mid-boss section easier, but got to test it more. Need to figure out Stage 2 chaining and the rest of Stage 3 eventually. Consistency is my biggest flaw. :fail:

Don't worry about chaining past stage 1 until you can 1-ALL the game somewhat consistently.  You'll end up wanting to kill yourself otherwise.

On second thought, forget about chaining alltogether.

Welp, Ketsui X Mode 1cc!  :D
I haven't said it yet, but Ketsui's amazing. Probably my favorite game from now on.  :]

Stage 5 went amazing. Probably my best so far. Perfected everything up to the boss after the descend.  :o
Finished with an extra life remaining but still missed an 1up. :<
300 million or something score.

Also, it's official, I'm better at Ketsui than Futari original. :<

I probably would have gone with Ketsui if I had a 360 that could play it, but because I don't, I went with Futari.

Thanks to Matsy <3 for pointing me in the direction of a site that isn't backed up on Futari orders.

D- pad. Analog stick makes it seem like I'm flying drunk.

I don't know what the hell friction tape is, but I put some masking tape on the pad and it seems to work really well for my accuracy.

Friction tape, masking tape, close enough, right? :P Basically anything that sticks to the pad and has a slightly uneven surface to stop your thumb slipping, as often happens with the smooth regular pad.

Congrats! DDP was my first Cave 1cc too. :P Don't worry about the score, that's about normal for your first 1cc if you're not looking at chaining. Which ship did you use?

As for the tape, it's worth trying; my diagonals are fine after using it. It feels a lot more accurate than a slide-y analog to me, anyway. :V

Congratulations from me too! I still remember how great I felt when I pulled off my first DDP 1cc. That changed arcade shmups from crazy stuff insane proplayers play to something I can actually do. After that there was no turning back.

And definitely d-pad. At first I thought the stick felt more comfortable but I'm glad I decided to stay with the d-pad. Now just after a few days of play, the stick feels just wrong and way too inaccurate. I still rarely move to an unintended direction but I'm pretty amazed how quickly I have adapted to this. The Futari Original 1cc should be enough for a proof (check my replay in Live :D).
