Seattle. Pink Godzilla is seriously some sort of heaven, especially in combination with a Vietnamese sandwich. They import sweet stuff like Mushi and Ketsui from Japan, and they have an arcade.

On topic, who thinks the Stage 2 boss's final attack really really really sucks. The one with the loops that are aimed in front of you and the destroyable bullets that shoot spirals. Bleh. Made it perfect one time, but that was mostly luck.
Naw, there's a certain way of doing it. The destroyable circles are in a set pattern, and you should be aiming to destroy them in particular rather than hit the boss; it makes the pattern much easier and doesn't really take any longer.

On a similar note: apparently the place where I found DDP2 now has Ketsui, as the shmups boards are owned by some shmups forum guys and they change them around as they want. :V I wonder how I'd do with a stick.

More Garegga, but haven't beaten 2.4m/stage 4 boss yet, though.
Let's fight.

I'll keep that in mind once I go back. Is Galuda also arcade only, or can I get a copy for my 360?

You can get Galuda II for 360, but the first ESPGaluda port is for Japanese PS2 only. It's one of the less expensive titles, actually-- and it comes with the super-awesome Arrange mode as well.

Yes. They are called banh mi, and they are cucumber, daikon, carrot, cilantro and onion on a toasted baguette (Vietnam was colonized by France) with mayonnaise and grilled meat. And hot sauce.

And I don't know if they have DFK, but they mainly sell old games rather than new imports. I was told that they do occasionally have Ketsui in stock, so you can't rule out Dodonpachi.

Technically, banh mi is just "bread", but yeah, that type of combination is pretty bad-ass nonetheless.
Anyway, you really do seem to have hit the jackpot. The manager of that arcade was looking for advice over at the shmups forum on what shmups to get. Good to hear they have Ketsui and Galuda there.

Also, Arrange is an all-new mode exclusive to console ports only. They change the scoring mechanics and the way the game plays. It's fucking awesome, especially Galuda's.
(You often hear arranges as a "remix" of a song, but this applies in games where it's kinda like a remix of an entire game.)

Are you familiar with Mushihimesama and ESP Ra.De.?

ESPGaluda Arrange is like a mix of the three-- the scoring mechanics of ESP Ra.De. and ESPGaluda combined, and the bullet density of Mushihimesama. It's hard, but it's incredible.

Yeah, they offered that, but I said no because it was pork liver and I keep kosher.

But why the hell are we talking about sandwiches?

How the hell does scoring in [insert CAVE game here] work? It seems random what I get for a Stage 1 score in Galuda, and same for the number of green gems I get. Bullet density is always nice, but having to score to have any chance at a 1cc kind of turns me off.

The manager of that arcade was looking for advice over at the shmups forum on what shmups to get. Good to hear they have Ketsui and Galuda there.

Huh, that's interesting. Can you direct me to that thread?

You'll get used to it soon enough. Scoring in CAVE games is generally pretty gratifying anyways, so I can't imagine it'll be too bad once you know what you're doing. For Galuda, what you want to do is stock up a large amount of gems by killing enemies in regular mode, then go into Kakusei (slowdown) mode. From there, wait for enemies to shoot lots of bullets, then destroy them to cancel all their bullets and turn them into gold, which you can collect for lots of points. Ideally you want to keep a single kakusei going for as long as possible to stretch out the 100x multiplier you'll see after cancelling a lot of bullets in one go; it's somewhat complicated, but you'll get the hang of it in no time. Galuda2 on the other hand... :P

Ketsui's scoring on the other hand is extremely simple. Basically, shotgun an enemy with your regular shot to pick up a '5' item, then use lock-shot to destroy things until the counter runs out. Repeat until you get lots of points. The difficulty here is actually surviving; Ketsui is pretty brutal. :V

And hooray, more failure in Garegga. My rank control is pretty awful.
Let's fight.

btw, you don't need to learn the scoring system to be able to 1CC a CAVE game.
However, learning it will make said 1CC much more thrilling, since a lot of CAVE's scoring mechanics are "risk = reward".

ESPGaluda: Wait for lots of bullets to come on screen, go into Kakusei mode (slowdown mode, bullets are pink and stuff) and destroy the enemies that fired them to cancel out the bullets for points. This is more important in Arrange mode than it is in Arcade mode, where a lot of your score can come from clearing the game itself. The extends really aren't that hard to get once you get the hang of it.

ESP Ra.De.: Shoot enemies with the power shot, then destroy them with your normal shot to increase your multiplier.

Basically, in ESPGaluda Arrange, you want to get a dense screen of bullets, go into Kakusei mode, fire your power shot (aim it well!) then finish off the enemy with your normal shot. Doing so can give you not only the Kakusei multiplier, but up to a x64 multiplier based on how many of your power shots hit the enemy as well. It's great.

Nice.  I wanted to 1cc that game a while ago, but I lost interest due to all the gimmicks.  Most of it is memorization/strategic bombing, though I found the final boss a good deal harder than anything else in the game (on Lunatic, she's easy on lower difficulties)

I'll make a note of this when the time comes for me to continuespam my way through to unlock it.

I should probably keep away from Stars!VIVIT but for some reason, I don't want to.

Outside of the bomb on the stage (I bet Lasers!VIVIT would have an easy time there), I'm now down to a constant 2 mistakes on the boss whose name eludes me -- oh wait, it's Lagunas.

Stage 2 is a constant turn-off with the rank affecting enemies to the point where I can't kill them quick enough (or their parts with particular note to the enemies that fire lasers). Stage 1 just recently became manageable after some experimentation.

But why the hell are we talking about sandwiches?
Because those ones (generally speaking; though YMMV especially with regards to what you put in it) are awesome.

Laser VIVIT is by far the best character for 1ccing, though that's mostly because of her bomb.  Only downside to her is that Lego Batter GREAT!!Lagunas's penultimate attack is a nightmare due to bad homing and lolside-bullets.

I'm not really sure how Star VIVIT would handle stage 2.  Even with lasers, you have to pretty much be right on top of the enemies as they spawn to kill them fast enough.

So yesterday I tried DDP after not playing it for months and chose the Blue ship because spread = easier!
I game overed by mid-stage 3.

Today I tried again, with the Red ship, to see how different it would be.
I game-overed by mid-stage 6 :V

The last time I went to an arcade was probably six or so years ago. It was some large 40,000 sq-ft multi-story arcade in a nearby mall, and had an annoying card payment system, which meant that I couldn't enjoy the feeling of putting coins down a chute. I don't remember there being any shmups though; just the normal fighting, racing, and simulation games. I never went back. Even if there were more arcades around, I don't think that I would bother going, unless they had inaccessible games like Pink Sweets, Dai Fukkatsu (fucking iPhone), and MMP.

Probably shouldn't have tried to plant a bomb in his face to begin with.

EDIT: At least I managed to unlock Stage 6 after a couple more continues. Yuitia's difficulty is all over the place.

Nothing a well-placed bomb can't handle. Or two.

I would just like to say that YGS2000 is the best invention since the electric car. Some pattern reproduction is seriously weird (Ketsui Final?) but otherwise absolutely awesome when I can't play the game myself.

And also, what's the advantage of red bullet/overheat mode in Galuda? Seems pointless to me.

iirc (from guides, not the game itself as I can only play it when/if I go to a friend who has a PS2) you gain points automatically while you're in overheat mode, destroyed enemies generate gold items (though I don't know exactly how you benefit from them or if they affect points earned from slowdown sessions), and you have apparently more firepower (not sure, though..). Some may want to play on this mode for the challenge only, too.

Translations.
How much time do you guys think it will take for HM to be translated? Besides everyone's story modes and the whole menus, there's also the fact that the way HM's programmed is different from all other games. I bet it'll take two months.
