I suck at everything not-Touhou (and suck at Touhou right now anyway), and suck exponentially harder when I pay attention to score, but I'm interested.  Besides, I need an excuse to expand my shmup horizons.
Whether you're on Easy or you're a Lunatic, be damn proud of your accomplishments.  Don't let anyone convince you otherwise, for it's when you lose faith in your own achievements that those victories become defeats.

Sorry, but I'm already with TCACTRM for this year. :<

what should I say:
A) congratulations!
B) playing against your current team will be such a karmic punishment this time! (thankfully I didn't get to play against you guys in 2008 :p)
C) all of the above!

about a MotK team... if you guys want a suggestion, what about "team Shrinemaiden"? (with the Iron Maiden album parody as a banner, maybe?)  The forum address has shrinemaiden on it, and Touhou's about shrine maidens too :p

I wish you guys good luck, I wish I was allowed to provide information for you guys.. (or even leak information that's found by my teammates) ..what I do in such cases is mostly watch superplays and try to learn the gameplay.. and try to see which things I can do, or can't. Savestating is apparently helpful and time-saving..
neku: now for something important.
Translations.
How much time do you guys think it will take for HM to be translated? Besides everyone's story modes and the whole menus, there's also the fact that the way HM's programmed is different from all other games. I bet it'll take two months.

lusvik: I don't mind about playing HM in japanese. The language of punching other people is international.

The spam ships are really, really random >.>

And for some reason, I can't even perfect the red spaceship, the very first part in particular.
Those are the two hardest parts of the stage. For the green ships, the essential thing to make it manageable with A-L is to only tackle one side of the screen at a time (and to take out green ships with shot most of the time). Take out all the green ships on the side of the current bullet cancel ship, destroy that, and laser (better for this than shot so you can hit ships below/to the sides) your way over to the other side before they begin firing again. Repeat for that side, etc. For the final wave of them you do the same thing, except you just plain don't bother with the other side - just destroy the ones on the right and go high up on the screen so the rest can't hit you.

For the first part of the red ship, you want to be sweeping and streaming back and forth with shot until the two turret things appear; immediately be ready to laser the first one and destroy it before popcorn enemy shots get you. From there you can either stream the popcorns until they're all dead, and then take out the turret, or try and get the turret ASAP and kill the rest of the popcorns. Either works.
Consistency comes with practice.

...Also, the stage 3 extend is from destroying the six orange side boxes and then the hull thing at the end, without using an area bomb for any of the destruction. Laserbombs are fine. :V DDP only displays up to four reserve lives, so you pretty much just need to trust that you picked it up if you're scoring well by that point.

Wait, so I had it in reverse the whole time?

That would really explain why I've been only getting it oh so many times; it's either I do the part right (not very often, mind you) or use the area bomb instead of the laser bomb.

Tried out Donpachi. This game is so much funner than DoDonPachi.

I can currently get up to Stage 4 on 1 credit though. Stage 4 is extremely hard.

I did have to bombspam that stage 2 boss though.

And are you supposed to get a complete bomb refill after every stage? I don't remember Sapz's run getting that many.

From what I've gathered, each stage refills your bomb stock by the number of the stage you just cleared, e.g. clearing 1-1 or 2-1 gives you a bomb, clearing 1-5 gives you five bombs, etc. And yes, stage 4 and 5 are way harder than the first three. I'd argue that Stage 4 might even be harder than Stage 5 if you're using Type A.

Nice to see someone else enjoying Donpachi. It's pretty sweet. :3

I was using the US version if that matters.

I use Type C just like in DDP, the spread is too useful. If I want a straight shot, then I can just use the laser.

Nono, it does, that's what I've been playing. I think the US one gives you a full restock as opposed to the varied one of the JP version, though. :V

Haha, the strength of Type A is not in the straight shot so much as the speed it has. :P I tried C yesterday, the slow speed really threw me off. Got murdered by Stage 5.

Also, RaDe 1cc vid in progress.

This used to happen to me all the time. Of course, as I got better at the stage I started dying more on the boss since it wasn't at minimum rank anymore. :derp: That third attack with the two different types of blue bullets is a bitch at higher rank.

Spoiler:
Goddamnit 5pb release the patch already so the replays sync and I can actually record something ;_;

We've got one more opening for anyone interested-- and three more openings if Enigma and Krim aren't interested, as they haven't given me a definite yes or no yet.

Oh well, I would probably be busy with my 360 at that time anyway.  :3

Also, watching Sapz's run actually made me realise that I haven't uploaded my own 1cc yet. Might do that one of these days.

Oh and PatriotDark  is a pretty fun game.

MBL 1.1 All-Clear Double Ex All level 3 with Sakura. I derped on the Graveyard and Gorge though so I didn't beat my score that only got to 4-2 boss. But then Sakura sucks at scoring in that mode compared to Windia, so maaybe I wouldn't have even beaten it without the derping..

Played a fair bit of Garegga and Ibara today. Got all kinds of destroyed all over the place. :V Reached Stage 4 or so in Garegga, Stage 3 in Ibara. I think I'll have to play a lot more and get better at the systems if I actually want to get anywhere.

I just had a life-changing experience today. I just played ESPGaluda on an arcade. Played as Ageha on Normal rank, and didn't get past Stage 3, but OMG SO AWESOME.

Two observations:
1) An arcade stick is SO MUCH better than a keyboard, for shmups in general and danmaku in specific.
2) CAVE IS SO AMAZING I CANNOT SPEAK COHERENTLY

brb got to go buy deathsmiles and mushi and ketsui

Seattle. Pink Godzilla is seriously some sort of heaven, especially in combination with a Vietnamese sandwich. They import sweet stuff like Mushi and Ketsui from Japan, and they have an arcade.

On topic, who thinks the Stage 2 boss's final attack really really really sucks. The one with the loops that are aimed in front of you and the destroyable bullets that shoot spirals. Bleh. Made it perfect one time, but that was mostly luck.

Oh, and because I'm small for 15, my hand literally cannot reach the bomb button comfortably. Sucks.

Yes. They are called banh mi, and they are cucumber, daikon, carrot, cilantro and onion on a toasted baguette (Vietnam was colonized by France) with mayonnaise and grilled meat. And hot sauce.

And I don't know if they have DFK, but they mainly sell old games rather than new imports. I was told that they do occasionally have Ketsui in stock, so you can't rule out Dodonpachi.
