I defeated the first boss within three seconds

Why? You can totally milk one of the patterns for points!

Oh, and the layout reminds me a lot of DFK.

How so?

Pretty cool game, I suppose. The arrange mode is particularly sweet.

Started listening to Raiden II's music again. Even after 17 years, it's still so fucking awesome.

Awesome fun, both of them. They need a little time to get into though since the system requires a little more thought than most other CAVE games, especially the second. In terms of difficulty compared to most CAVE games, the first is pretty easy and the second is really hard. :V

The first boss is really easy but you aren't supposed to defeat her that fast if you're playing for score.
In fact Ibara's one of those games. You know, the games you have to bombspam in order to get super high score O_o;;

I thought it was pretty fun once I figured out the system. I enjoyed ESPGaluda 2 more despite it being significantly harder than the first.

It's heeeere! KETSUIIIIIIII! :D
And yes, I suck horribly with the controller. Made it to st2 on my first try. :( I died twice at the midboss because I fully expected to be able to dodge those patterns. I guess I just have to get used to this. Or buy an arcade stick.

Too bad I won't be able to lock myself home for a few days of heavy Ketsui play, because I'm leaving for a trip tomorrow and after that I really need to study some group theory for a test I have pretty soon.

Oh and if anyone's interested in the techical details: The Asia version was definitely a good choice, because the power supply it comes with can take anything from 200V to 240V so I can just use it with a standard computer power cable.

Hahaha, excellent stuff. :P The stage 2 midboss (much like damn near everything in this game) is deceptively difficult; it looks pretty simple but it still kills me more often than I'd like to admit. :derp: Don't be discouraged if the game takes a while to clear, outside of things like Ultra modes it's one of the hardest CAVE 1-ALLs, if not the hardest, IMO.

The pad takes a little getting used to but it's more than accurate enough once you get the hang of things, I'm actually favouring it over a keyboard these days - ordered a wired one just now to play PC/MAME shmups with. If you're finding it a little slippy, though, I'd recommend getting some kind of friction tape and sticking it over the d-pad, it did quite a lot for my precision.

I just ordered Ketsui myself as well actually. Found it at a price that I just couldn't say no to.
So now I'm kind of obligated to get a J360.  :V

Although Sunday is my birthday and I'm hoping I can course my parents into paying for half of it as a birthday present.  :3

I think it's finally time for a break from Ketsui. I'm starting to die in the first stage.

It seems that I can learn this controller if I just spend enough time using it. My best attempt so far got me near the end of st4 and that included one death with 3 bombs.

Made it to the second form of Galuda2's final boss. Died almost immediately though since I had no gems or bomb energy left. :V The 1cc is definitely doable if I stop screwing up; that run missed the hidden extend and died three times with a full/high bomb stock. It's just, goddamn, it's such a long game to not screw up in. @_@ I've pretty much entirely given up on using Zetsushikai at this point until I get the 1cc since I keep managing to kill myself/autobomb and lose the entire bomb stock in one go.

EDIT: Checked a video on YouTube. Galuda2 is apparently about 40 minutes long. :colonveeplusalpha:

Ketsui stage 5 reached. Now I can go to bed.

I don't think this is as hard as DOJ even though st5 feels really tough. It's still one of the hardest Cave 1st loops I have played. Probably somewhere on the level of ESP Ra.De., maybe even a bit harder.

ESPGaluda II 1cc!

Oh man holy shit that was intense. I was panting like I'd just done a sprint by the end of it. @_@ Will be uploading this shortly.

Also, the clear bonus is hilariously huge. I had 70m after killing the boss and 156m after the credits. :3

As for Ketsui stage 5: yes, it is like another game. :V My first 1cc had one death on the first four stages and five on Stage 5, and I think those were all using all of my bombs. It gets easier after a lot of practice, but Stage 5 is pretty much the wall for that game.

I accidentally released a BAZOOKA and the boss went down before I realized what was going on :V

Mostly the weapon stock at the bottom (similar to Strong type ?) and the rank meter.

Ah, by the way, I forgot to thank you for the IP. That was wonderful :*

Is it that rock band one or is it the official Microsoft controller?

The Microsoft one, again with friction tape now over the d-pad. The Rock Band one arrived a while ago; the d-pad was nice, but the lack of triggers really threw me off, so I haven't used it much. You can map autofire to the drum pedal if you feel like something crazy though, which is pretty hilarious. :derp:

Banana: You can play with the little d-pad that comes with it, or you can mix and match with that and the drums/pedal which work as buttons. :V Dunno about guitar, though I think Krim mentioned playing Touhou on a guitar once.

So any chance of a MotK team for STGT?

Of course, there's 2 places I would consider in the first place.

I was just about to post something like this!

Anyone interested? We'll be calling SotW off for the STGT weeks, of course (though we can add our scores from each week to our own board, why not).

For those unfamiliar, STGT is an annual tournament at Shmups forum, played over the span of a few weeks. People can make their own teams and compete with other teams, and so on and so forth. There are a variety of games played though, so practice with a broad spectrum of different shmups is recommended.

I'd obviously be considering this site, and Romscout asked me on Ustream to participate for SDA. Even though I'm not even registered on SDA and would have to register there.

And I do like SDA a lot too.
