Details of the new upcoming CAVE shooter have been released and translated courtesy of EOJ from CAVE-STG.

-Danmaku type horizontal scrolling shooting game
-Hardcore military shooter
-Each ship has a pair of characters (pilot and gunner?) with specific attacks
...-Each ship changes its attacks when you change "mode"
-The characters (enemies, allies, and others - all human) are quite diverse
-Ships are designed as hardcore, 1950s style retro mechas
-Game
is designed around destructible objects and dodging bullets - the core
elements of an enjoyable STG - rather than obstacles and topography.
This gives it a refreshing feeling.
-It has been carefully developed for over 1 year.
-Release in summer/fall 2010

...

Holy shit. This sounds really, really cool. Seeing as it sounds to be aimed more at STG fans rather than the loli crowd, hopefully it'll be hard as nails. :D

I'll be waiting for videos :p

But I hope it's not a Progear 2, I have enough problems with timing enemy kills and feeling their resilience :p

edit:
meanwhile, I'm trying to learn how to play Dimahoo, and noticed that while a charged shot is active, your regular shots also make items to appear (which is nice). However, I'll have a lot of trouble trying to keep track of how many sets I have completed or which item is lacking to complete them..
Currently trying to memorize a bit of the first stage, then freestyling on the rest (what rest? I'm restarting as soon as I mess up on opportunities and Busturtle :p), until I can learn from the Miyamoto video again.

neku: now for something important.
Translations.
How much time do you guys think it will take for HM to be translated? Besides everyone's story modes and the whole menus, there's also the fact that the way HM's programmed is different from all other games. I bet it'll take two months.

lusvik: I don't mind about playing HM in japanese. The language of punching other people is international.

protip: try to complete shoes and food at st1(but you'll usually fail), then leave the rest up to lady luck :V

and the st2 boss will kick your ass hard, so don't be afraid to bomb

also, don't forget to add the total items collected on the scoreboard, one more thing we can compete in even though the scoring is all luck :V

No way I'm going to memorize enemy drops or what I'm carrying. This is a shmup, not some stupid Diablo clone. I'll just use the charged shot whenever there's time and hope for the best. I'll probably also use the Warrior, because his name is Solo-Bang.

there is a lesbian porn site named solobang :V that makes it all better

and yeah, that's what I do, just charge and pick up stuff hoping for the best. Bosses also give a good amount of points, especially the st4 one(900k or so)

Got a score for 1.1 a little while ago I'll be able to submit if it's allowed on the scoreboard of course.

Screwed up the first 6 stages so I didn't bother with the Extra stage, which I can clear with enough resources going in but then reduces my chance of 1ccing to almost 0. Game overed while the final boss had little health left.

Still can't do Extra without 1.1's familiar control. Okay, maybe I could due to having 2 extra bombs per life over 1.1. That's pretty much what kills me in the stage on 1.1. There's like 3 or 4 things that i would like to autobomb but can't. On 1.1, I can NDNB to past the midboss. Sometimes up to the trap room, but I almost always die or bomb due to screw ups before then. Then the part after that kicks my ass too. And the bosses.

I pretty much have the first parts of Extra down though.

That's what I wonder too. CAVE said their team has the ability to do a straight port in 3 days. I wonder what's the damn holdup.

It probably won't be called Progear 2 considering Capcom has the rights to the first title.
Still, the concept of this new STG is really similar so I'd say it's pretty damn close as a spiritual sequel.

MBL 1.1 attempt. I accidentally panic bombed Jitterbug. Goodbye two lives that could have gotten me past the TLB possibly.

Okay, so it was a somewhat legitimate bomb, but I still shouldn't have used the damn thing. Of course, there's no guarantee that I wouldn't have just died more times, but that still sucked.

Edit: Another run, failed Jitterbug, failed to bomb on Tyrannosatan.

Dimahoo initial goal reached, got to stage 5. I think that's okay, considering I have played this only like 3 times before this. Score 3.1M, could have been better but I was reluctant to risk charging in stage 4 because I was on my last life pretty much the entire stage.

The bosses in this game are pretty fun but also extremely random. Sometimes they just stay quiet and only use some easy attacks occasionally and sometimes they throw up combos that seem almost impossible to dodge.

Haven't gotten a run past the Volcano stage since my last failed run on Tyrannosatan. That boss might actually be worse than that damn tree.

After much messing around with cables and TV cards, I've figured out a setup where I can record from the 360. Tested it with the Ketsui run I did a while ago that reached Tsuujou loop. :3 I think it's a little squashed, so I'll use 16:10 next time instead of 16:9... seems good enough for the most part, though.

Part 1, part 2, part 3.

Well, you can always take back the thread if you're not feeling lazy. But that's your call.
Also, I'd plaster the Deathsmiles board in the same thread as SotW anyway so.... :V

Also, I heard the localization of Deathsmiles removed a lot of slowdown from the Japanese version since a lot of people have reported the US version being significantly "quicker" than the JP one.
